I fear a lot of people learned to take good care of library books as children and instead of internalizing "leave shared community items as you found them as much as possible, because other people will use them too" they internalized "printing and binding a book imbues it with sacred energy and if you dog-ear a mass-market paperback you're desecrating the entire concept of written language"
I never thought I would be siding with the pope’s involvement in politics and cheering him on. I will say that.
On one hand, I’m glad that more people are waking up to the atrocities ICE is committing and taking action. On the other hand…..it only happened after white people were killed. Like…killing ain’t new to ICE they’ve been doing this for years y’all except their victims were browner
In addition, more than just the two white people in Minneapolis have been killed (9 people total this year alone), it's just that none of the rest are white. It's interesting that I only see their names spoken by other people of color. I'm sure that's just a coincidence.
Just had the conversation with my dad yesterday that, “it’s interesting the only people who’ve been killed are white, huh?”
No dad, the only people *you’ve heard about who’ve been killed* are white. There’s been more than the two deaths.
List of deaths in ICE detention - Wikipedia
Federal agents have shot three people in Minneapolis in recent weeks, killing two U.S. citizens, Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Videos contradi
There have been several shootings involving ICE agents since Trump's return to office last year.
Are we here to shame people, or to let people know about ICE’s atrocities?
Links for anyone who didn’t know about more than the two recent white people killed
they have the atlantic war correspondent covering minneapolis (it’s a very good piece)
In the frozen streets of Minneapolis, something profound is happening.
ICE now tackling press.
Source.
Interview where he talks about what happened.
A photographer for Getty isn't even a journalist so much as an archivist. ICE violently disrupted the apolitical documentation of what they were doing, violating any and all rights that might flimsily stand in their way. It would have been just as wrong had they done this to an MSNBC reporter hellbent on a spin, but now Abernathy's neutral action as a photographer has been rendered necessarily political by ICE's violence.
They know what they're doing is objectively evil. They have no intention of stopping.
previous tags from @nihilisticspacequeer, which provide a bit of context for why Abernathy threw his (extremely expensive) camera
they got way more on camera too. lookit this shit. source
they knock him down from behind, they're kneeling on him, and they've set off tear gas. his arms are pinned under him and he can't breathe. look at this photo of his face.
I'm gagging and literally thought I’m going to pass out. I couldn’t breathe. I was thinking I only have a couple of breaths left and I don’t know what’s going to happen after that. I had taken that last shot and I threw my camera. I lifted my head up and saw one photographer taking photos. I threw my camera and then I threw my phone.
this last picture is his camera on top of his citation.
but the insane thing? yk how he said
I had taken that last shot and I threw my camera.
THIS IS THE LAST SHOT
THIS is the photo he took before he threw his camera. how poignant.
check out the article source too, it's a really good read.
I'm starting to understand how my mom (remembers the reagan administration) feels about 80s nostalgiabait
2016 fully does not even have a fun #aesthetic going on though like there's nothing here. It was bad. Everyone was miserable. What are you talking about
Hello! Can I ask clarification for your patreon subscriptions? I don't understand, if I get the fans tier or the friends and family one, can I still read your wips? Sorry but English is not my mother tongue and sometimes it's difficult to get the right meaning. Also, if you can, would you please share the summaries of the stories? Even if they contain spoilers, I'd like to know what they are about, the protagonists, the tags (like your fics on ao3) and if there are trigger warnings. Thank you!
Right now, I haven't been posting on Ao3, so you can see everything exclusive on the Fans tier unless you are trying to see one single sort of secret Lone Star post that never made it's way over there. The original stories on Patreon are all about original characters in my hockey universe. Right now, there are over 350 exclusive posts, so posting summaries would take a long time, but if you start from the beginning, then it really does make sense. Posting pairings of character's that are original also may not help if you don't know who they are. It started with Cupid/Mills and grew from there. The Grimm family is heavily featured (especially Mason) and also Kent's oldest after they have grown up. Also I delved deeper into Matty's life.
Any major trigger warnings are at the beginning of each story. If you have an major concerns I'm happy to let you know if certain warnings are applicable. Honestly, I don't think my stories need major trigger warnings because I don't write very dark stories. I'd say the main one would be references to past off-screen child abuse/neglect. I think our of over 300 posts, 2 or 3 have additional trigger warnings. I am just not a very dark writer in my original stories.
Was it really necessary for Brilliant Minds to attack me like that?? I feel entirely too seen as a gifted neurodivergent person with prosopagnosia. Yes, I know I’m difficult to love. Thanks.
I live in Chicagoland and have family friends who are brown and undocumented. It’s not good here.
I want to specify that the US government ICE agents rapelled from Blackhawk helicopters to take over an apartment building, breaking open apartment doors in the middle of the night to drag barely-clad residents from their homes and detain everyone in UHaul trucks with the children zip-tied to each other. Regardless of citizenship.
There was too much traffic today, and an ICE agent deployed a tear gas canister in traffic in response.
This is not normal.
From the very bottom of my heart: what the ACTUAL FUCK
It’s not even near me yet, but where I live there’s lots of brown folks so they’ll come.
This is surreal. We’re being attacked by the United States.
"ICE Agents Rappel From Black Hawk Helicopters Into Chicago for Major Raid" - MSN, published October 1st, 2025
Most mainstream media is barely covering it.
I genuinely wish I were surprised by that.
Yesterday, ICE terrorized my neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods, handcuffed my alderperson for asking for a warrant and threw tear gas cans onto the street outside a grocery store that was a block from an elementary school.
autism is not a horrible disease that ruins lives and tears apart families. elon musk, who is autistic and an evil billionaire who doesn't pay taxes, has ruined thousands of lives, and whose family hates him, is a statistical outlier adn should not have been counted
Accidentally clicking on an AI assistant feels like clicking on a link that’s going to give you a virus.
i hate when something violent happens to a right wing politician and every left leaning pundit and politician gets on their soap box about how "violence isn't the answer" as if the right wing ideology doesn't inherently encourage violence.
"his son just had his first birthday" they're separating families. they're attacking trans people. they're building concentration camps. they send "thoughts and prayers" for school shootings and don't enact real change to prevent others. they have stood by israel, which is bombing nurseries. they stormed the capitol and physically harmed others. and i'm supposed to be sad he got shot at?
