I should really get to writing the next big part of Chaos Theory.

There's a wonderfully upsetting scene (upsetting to normal people at least; Stone fails to see the problem) I really can't wait to write.

But I have three more in-betweens I should also work on. And two of them are "move plot along to the next part" fics. The last is completely unimportant but it's also my favourite so far.

...Wait, there's four more. I forgot one. But that one is done and ready to post, I just need to finish the previous one.

Currently, the order I have is Immortality of the Crab > Coming Clean > Ghost in the Machine > Five Golden Rings (some of these are working titles, may or may not stay).

And then there's either one more side story (potentially titled The Devil's Backbone) or right into part two. Which still needs a title! Part three is currently titled Obscurity is Not a Virtue but that one is a way away yet (it's Robotnik and Shadow's part of the story). I've got a few ideas rattling around my head for titles. We'll see what sticks.

Things that 100% happened at some point in Chaos Theory-verse:

Sonic using his speed to attempt to stick magnets on Stone's arms. They're not magnetic except under special circumstances (i.e. his electrical magnet field) but you know they tried.

So here's another headcanon about Stone and Robotnik both speaking Japanese, in addition to what I mentioned in the notes for Laws of the Instrument:

While they use very different levels of formality when they speak (Robotnik is casual leaning towards rude and Stone typically leans polite formal), both of them 100% us ga iru rather than ga aru when talking about the Badniks and where they are. What do you mean they're objects? This isn't a deliberate choice, neither of them even considered using the non-living form for the Badniks.

At some point in either Chaos Theory-verse or the other AU I dreamed up, I need to put Stone in a corset vest, because we do self-indulgence here and look at these things! I've seen plenty of art and fics with Stone in a corset, and I love it, but I feel like a corset vest is especially fitting for his aesthetic.

So I was playing AFK Journey and I noticed something ...

I don't particularly like this guy (and not because he's a villain, he's just boring), but change some colours around and this would make an excellent formal wear outfit for SM1!Robotnik.

Or potentially for that other AU my brain has begun spinning (because Chaos Theory-verse wasn't enough) which diverges before the first movie.

Re: my love of making teeny pointless references in my fics that are mostly just easter eggs for the people who do get it (and don't affect those who don't get it, because that's kinda mean)...

One of the main GUN people who're causing issues in Chaos Theory is an engineer named Meredith Miller. She is marginally more pleasant than the person who inspired her first name (though Jeannie is way nicer and I'm sorry I stole her married surname).

So, having watched Sonic 3 far too many times — for science! (yes, I'm writing things down, so it's science) — and I've been trying to figure out where the Shadow Base is, but it's never really mentioned. We're told Shadow crashed down in Oklahoma, but not if that's where the base is.

It could be! All information we have about the base is that it's under a mountain, and Oklahoma does have those. And when Robotnik is tracking down the missing Badniks the screen does show North America, so presumably it's somewhere in the US.

Now, I've never read the script, and as far as I can tell they say nothing in the novelisation (I will admit I skim read them, they're not written for adults), but the only real information I can find about it is that Jeff Fowler referred to it as Shadow Base and that's it's a massive underground base.

You know what is also a massive underground base near Oklahoma that would be a good place to put a lab, and not entirely dissimilar from the way the look from the movie? And ties into that other fandom I've obsessed hard over?

Yeah. So my headcanon is that the reason there is no Stargate program in the Sonic movie verse is that they put the Shadow Base where SGC is. (Presumably NORAD is still around, but they stuck them elsewhere). Shadow Base gave me such SG-1 flashbacks anyway (actually so did Prison Island — the layout is very close to the gate room) so why not.
