Arizona Virtual Studios Behind the Scenes

Arizona Virtual Studios is a full-service and creative team located in Phoenix…well Arizona as you can read in their name. Anyone who has ever worked on a film set knows there is a lot of behind the scenes activity that goes on. Arizona Virtual Studios knows this and released a behind the scenes video of their upcoming commercial.

Oh snap! We get our own gif set!! This is our team at Arizona Virtual Studios and I can't be more proud of what we have accomplished!

I haven't done an animation in a while, much less a 2D animation. So since I was nominated by my brother to do the ice bucket challenge, I figured I'd have some fun with it. It's not my best work ever but for not doing 2D in over 3 years I think it's better than post-it notes. I've seen some other people take this approach to the IBC and I'm not trying to copy the idea, I just wanted to join the fun!

Duet

Glen Keane, Disney Legend (he was inducted in 2013) and character animator for a few small movies you may have heard of, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Tangled to name a few, released a 3 minute short at the Google I/O Conference. The hand drawn short called Duet is a love story was made to demonstrate the future of animation on mobile devices.

On “Geek” Versus “Nerd”

To many people, “geek” and “nerd” are synonyms, but in fact they are a little different. Consider the phrase “sports geek” — an occasional substitute for “jock” and perhaps the arch-rival of a “nerd” in high-school folklore. If “geek” and “nerd” are synonyms, then “sports geek” might be an oxymoron. (Furthermore, “sports nerd” either doesn’t compute or means something else.)

In my mind, “geek” and “nerd” are related, but capture different dimensions of an intense dedication to a subject:

geek - An enthusiast of a particular topic or field. Geeks are “collection” oriented, gathering facts and mementos related to their subject of interest. They are obsessed with the newest, coolest, trendiest things that their subject has to offer.

nerd - A studious intellectual, although again of a particular topic or field. Nerds are “achievement” oriented, and focus their efforts on acquiring knowledge and skill over trivia and memorabilia.

AsapScience Explains Multiple Sclerosis

I'm doing a project for a teacher of mine and it's for a web series called Mantecoza. My job was to do the enemy airship and it's suppose to look like an airship that you wouldn't want to encounter.

So he had wanted these barb spike looking things at are on cathedrals in the Victorian era to cover the balloon part of the dirigible. (Another word for the barbs is crockets.) As I'm putting these crockets onto the balloon, all I see are little bunny silhouettes. It was killing me that all I was seeing was bunnies!

So I took a screen shot and painted bunnies on them. But I made it even better when I made the bunnies evil. Now I can keep them on the balloon!

So I've been going through my old files and I came across my Digital Ink and Paint Midterm assignment. We had to animate and color, in Photoshop, a walk cycle. I'm still really happy with how it turned out but maybe now I can upgrade on the character design.

So I'm doing a big project for my boyfriends boss and I had to make a 3D speech bubble. He wasn't specific on what went in the bubble so I improvised.

Meet Samuru! She is a river otter and I think she is adorable! She will join the crew along with another new character. I still need to make a few adjustments before I post it but it will be up soon.

Fantoom, Moose and Hummo have a few new friends. This is Samuru. She is an adorable river otter. I wanted to create another cute face to join the crew. My other new edition is still a work in progress but will be up soon.

So my boyfriend is designing a website for a company that makes custom BBQ grills. He has a cool slide show on how the grills can be interchangeable and be made into any kind of grill you want. But he wanted something better and more awesome than a slide show. He then asked me to create the standard lid and grill in 3D so he can show the client a better way to show off their grills. This is the finished component 1.
