I don’t think Vax is dead. I don’t think he can be for what Ludinus did to work. Shape changed or something maybe but if he needed “a shred of divinity” or whatever then killing him or eradicating him completely would prevent him from still being tied to the Matron of Ravens, right? Like is essence can’t be destroyed in order for that to work and since he’s sort of already incorporeal anyway cuz of the nature of what he is I think it’s somewhat reasonable to believe he is still recoverable from that state?

But also I don’t know shit about fuck and I could be super duper wrong that’s just my current thoughts

I think people being very critical of last nights episode and saying that Matt railroaded or whatever are forgetting that like NPCs can have traits too? Ludinus is 1000 years old and has planned all of this intricately. I don’t think the issue is a power level necessarily but a level of preparedness that Ludinus and the Ruby Vanguard made absolutely sure nothing could go wrong. That doesn’t mean that the rest of the campaign doesn’t matter though or that their choices are worthless. In c2 the Mighty Nein had the odds incredibly stacked against them with the Somnovem but they were able to plan and get the upper hand. I think it is completely reasonable for them to win in the end and that this event was just a catalyst for the rest of the campaign’s story. It’s not a “Matt versus Everyone Else” thing it’s just high stakes. What would have happened if they succeeded? When I said that it was an intentional “they lose” scenario I didn’t say that to be critical of Matt I think it actually makes sense from a storytelling perspective and on top of that. They were rolling bad. That’s how dnd goes. I am so excited to see where this goes.

Also, we’re just past 50 episodes. This whole thing could very well have been a campaign ending story arc, especially with how intertwined so many characters stories were with Ruidus and the events surrounding it. The signs were there that things wouldn’t go well, that Ludinus expected the people who came, that he had planned for them. But the Bells Hells are predominantly beneath his notice, and they did do SOMETHING. What that something is, and how effective it was, we don’t know. The cast seemed excited, dismayed, concerned, but so ready to see what happens next. They communicate with Matt. He knows how special their current characters AND former characters are to them. This is their story. And he very very VERY clearly has a plan.

Exactly! Bells Hells are clearly not in Ludinus’s intricate plan and who knows what will happen now. The level of intertwined misfortune that happened here was less of a show of Matt’s force as a DM, more of a demonstration of how far in advance Ludinus prepared. He prepared for Beau and Caleb and Keyleth and Vax, but he can’t truly prepare for Bell’s Hells cuz they’re still in the making. They still 100% have the power in this game.

The way Matt played those powerful npcs really shows that they were never supposed to win. This is Calamity 2.0, its not about stopping the apocalypse, its about living it. Its about what comes after, and i cannot wait to see what Matt has planned for them.

tbh Sabian's design is like, to me, this is a bisexual, you can't tell me he doesn't look incredibly bisexual. he wears his hair long and in a braid, he has one (1) fingerless glove, he carries a stiletto dagger in his coat as if it is a lapel pin. this is an incredibly bisexual man.

My running theory now is that he intentionally covers them to distance himself from his past. He still seems to be running a bit from it even though he wants to change from what Lucien and Molly were. He also wears gloves and long sleeves all the time so he could totally be intentionally covering it. I wouldn’t be surprised. Taliesin is really detail oriented when it comes to his characters’ clothing designs, and I seriously doubt he just overlooked the existence of the tattoos.
