mishil yeom- sun roof's high, shades on eyes.
VALENTINE'S DAY BASH-
mishil yeom most likely not attending with anyone other than his jack daniels, considering he's being anti valentines and wearing all black because fuck a hallmark holiday and has never cared for this holiday ever since Jae disappeared.
Freddie’s feet come to a halt when a voice cuts through the destructive commentary in his mind. He huffs, chest still heaving and fists still clenched. He bites down on his inner cheek in an attempt to regulate his nervous system, he bits till he can taste the blood in his mouth. FINALLY, finally, he talks, attempting to adjust the mask, forcing a Pained smiled across his features. “ dunno what would give you than idea. ” it’s said so casually, said like his mind isn’t collapsing in on itself. “ I could hit the beach. ”
mishil had a lot of anger himself, it was part of the reason why he strictly did hockey growing up. now it’s a dead dream and he just takes his anger out on broken barge engines instead that he doesn’t even know how to fix. “i beat the shit out of a random engine half the time when it’s not working.” he says casually, in a bit of a joking tone. “not an actual person. it’s not worth it, having the anger boil up and then having someone else get injured. which is ironic considering the sport i used to play. but i played hockey because i was actually good at it.” he gives freddie a gentle smile underneath the lamppost. “snow on the beach is always my favorite time of the year.
Soph gave a nod, "Yeah, so I'll either have to see it, or you can call whoever and get that information because I won't know what to get you or how to fix it without that." It always surprised her how little people know about the things they use every damn day. "I can also give you the number to a few boat mechanics in the area who might be a better fit."
“i think it would be beneficial to have an actual boat mechanic, we used to have one, but he retired so i’ve been trying to find a decent contact for these boats. i can only learn so much. i’m a boat captain, my forte isn’t the mechanics and what not.” he says with a shrug. “i don’t want to waste your time if you’re not even sure you can fix it.” so he pulls out his phone instead. “you got any of those numbers i can take down?”
"Sure, coming up." She smiled softly at him before heading to grab him a glass and the ingredients. "I don't think I've seen you here much" he spoke loudly over the music in an attempt to be heard as she walked back towards him to mix the concoction. "First time or just a very rare occasion?" She posed the question once more. She had been picking up more shifts recently in an attempt at keeping herself busy with the anniversary of Adem's disappearance coming up.
“i don’t go out often to be honest.” mishil says with a shrug, though he glances and sees that it’s kennedy. a face he hadn’t seen in a long time. she was someone he had grown up with in the past. he blinks a bit taking in the familiar face. she was once someone he had opened up to. he should have known he would run into old people from his past in this town. “i’m trying to go into this new year being like– social and whatnot, one might say. how long you’ve been working here?”
Soph slowly nodded her head, she had some familiarity with boats, she wasn't sure she'd have the parts on hand but she would know where to get them. "That depends, what kind of engine and what part are you looking for? Are you dealing with an inboard or an outboard engine and whats the horsepower on it?" She questioned, all of that would impact what connection to call.
“somethin’ that would make a whole barge to run.” he says with a shrug. he doesn’t know the actual name. he wishes the captain would have been more verbal to him. “they stuck in our dock right now though, so if you want to see for yourself, you can. the waters are just getting colder, apparently with my new job i’m also a mechanic and a welder.”
task 1 for mishil yeom
moving from the rocky docks to windy harbors- mishil's trailer park home with his father- mishil did not live here all his life, they simply moved to the trailer park because it was better for his father to get around, despite it being small. the father, of course, gets the bottom bed with his medical equipment it didn't feel that much different shifting from living on a boat by the water to living in another small space on land. mishil stores a medic bag with all of his fathers medical equipment on a shelf at the end of his bed. people have learned to spot his dad's wheelchair rolling around because mishil does of course, decorate it depending on the season and holiday. the bathoom is small, but still somehow managed to build a handicap accessible bathtub on the other side of the door, despite the door fully hitting the tub once it is open. they comprised if mishil got the top bunk he could still have his own gaming area which is directly next to the kitchen and often his dad watches mishil play when he's laying down in bed. that mishil does often forget to put away the dishes because their dishwasher is strictly used as storage these days (dishes is one of his least favorite tasks) it hasn't worked in years. mishil does however, keep the outside of the trailer park in tip top shape, with a ramp going up to the door. he shovels the snow when needed to and salts the ground and even does it for his neighbors, if they kindly ask.

location: rosebuds
mishil found himself on a saturday afternoon roaming the streets of ashford. it’s something he does quite often. “do old dads like trinkets?” he asks nonchalantly as if no one was nearby but rosebuds was rather quite crowded this afternoon. “maybe one of these fidget spinners could be good, huh? to keep up with his dexterity or whatever, is it too late for old people develop new habits?” mishil was doing anything to keep himself distracted, however his dad’s health is getting worse these days. the trailer park home is starting to get too small with him, his dad and all his medical equipment he needs. “that fidget spinner thingy is too pink though. what do you think?”

somehow in between the years of mishil being the boat captain he was also the go to guy these years to fix minor maintenance requests in the community. a kid broke the light in the lamppost throwing a baseball into it. he was honestly surprised to find out the kid wasn’t sticking their nose into an ipad like kids these days do. he fished the baseball out of the freezing snow water and climbed up the ladder with his bright blue gloves on to break off the remaining pieces of the glass and realized that he left the box of bulbs down too far away. he glances around, spotting jaesung on the pathway walking towards his own home. god– please why is he the only one around? why is he changing out the bulb on a windy january evening? he didn’t think this through. “hey–” he called out “jaesung–” he called the name a bit louder this time. he winces almost saying the name after it's been a long time of him avoiding the park family like the plague. it’s not like he could pretend he doesn’t know who he is forever. he knew exactly who he was. “can you grab that box for me?” he asks as he does his best to keep the ladder steady with his weight.

location: eden
mishil hates going out, he does. however it was his father tonight that told him he needed to go out and make friends. mishil tucked him into bed, turned on everybody loves raymond for him, put the remote in his hand and dimmed the overhead bedroom light that you can still see from outside the window as he left the trailer and made his way towards the main streets of town. where does someone go to meet people? eden, probably. he takes a deep breath as he finds himself outside, showing the security guard his id before going in, spotting kennedy behind the bar and makes himself comfortable. “gin and tonic, please.” he says giving her a soft smile, making sure to not let his black leather jacket touch the sticky bar top.

Freddie tries very hard to keep his temper in check. He tries very hard to be his mother’s son and not his father’s. He tries very hard to keep up the role of the fool and keep it all under the surface. But there are moments where the facade cracks. He knows it will happen before the moment comes. The posters. The fight with his father that morning about the posters. the dickhead customer at work talking about the posters. He knew it would happen, the camel's back would break eventually.
And it happens outside the venue, a drink in one hand a cigarette in the other. The fucking poster plastered against his brain. There’s a comment that Freddie should have ignored, but he can’t. A nasty comment about his family, about his mother and sister. About how they’re probably better off now that they don’t have to deal with his shit. Freddie’s fist flies without thinking, profanities spilling from his mouth like a prayer. The other person is bigger than him, but that doesn’t mean Freddie will go down without a fight. At least that’s what he’s planning before the space around him erupts, bodies surging, someone shouting for them to pack it in, and whatever was driving him gutters out, breath heaving, bruise already blooming. “ fuck you ! ” he spits bitterly to everyone within earshot, turning on his heel to stomp away from the fire.
mishil does not go to eden often, however this was one of those rare times where he was off duty and he actually had time to go out, of all places he chooses to go to eden. most people in his life think that he’s stuck up, this was his time trying to have fun. however the aspect of being out made him freak out a little once he got into a crowded space. he stepped outside for air. he found himself by the awning, watching the whole thing unfold. “you know, fights aren’t going to solve anything.” he says with a shrug as the lamppost frames out his visage, finally making himself more visible to the other. he knows what the anger is like; he felt that same anger when jae went missing. how he felt when he was outed to the rest of the world as his ex boyfriend. “was going to head to the beach for some fresh air, crowded places aren’t my thing.” he says almost as if that’s a common statement. “was going to head there myself, sounds like you might need some fresh air.” he wasn’t judging, he gets the anger, understands it even. mishil was just better at keeping himself busy rather than acting on it.

"Have a nice day." She smiled to the customer as she handed over their keys and watched them move to the exit. Her eyes shifted to the person left in her lobby. "Car troubles or are you looking for some custom work?" She didn't want to correlate the uptake in business to the recent poster incident but she would be lying if she said people weren't coming in to make sure their cars were in tip top shape just incase they had to skip town. "We are running a deal on tune ups this week, you know, gotta make sure everyone is staying safe... especially with the recent events."
mishil was running on fumes after his house boat broke down, needing a new engine. his last resort is an automobile shop of all places. but sometimes they could have spare parts, right? like a throttle for the engine at least, or something. he does not feel like going dumpster diving in the junk yard today after how his day has gone. “right—” mishil says, letting his thoughts trail off. he tries to not really think about the recent events if he was going to be honest. at least with his engine breaking it was giving him a chance to have his brain preoccupied. “uh– back to business.” he clears his throat a bit. “no car issues, but boat issues. you got a part at all for a diesel engine layin’ around? it would really save me the time from having to go dumpster diving.”
