China have a subway alternative - Transit Elevated Bus (TEB)
Shenzhen Huashi Future Parking Equipment, is presenting a project at the China exposition of new tech, the project : Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) is a bus that is elevated enough to be able to run above traffic, thus basically without any interruption kind-of like a subway.
The project is in prototype phase, but if it ends up being realized, we could expect a strong alternative to the subways. It might be a serious competitor to tramways as well, as it does not need to have a dedicated road to travel.
Will China’s $336 billion state VC impact tech?
China’s state VC is now holding US$336.4 billion for investing in the nation’s startups, triple the amount held in 2013.
The money is spread across several -780 to be precise- government guidance funds consisting of local and central agencies.
There are serious fears that the money will go to waste or even create a tech bubble. But the real impact of the money might be huge if it would be directed towards innovating instead of copying and trying to compete with existing services/apps/sites.
A US$336.4 billion fund in China has the effect of more than a trillion $ in Silicon Valley or the west, due to cheaper manpower.
There’s no doubt, this money can accelerate tech advancement tremendously, if it would be used to innovate instead of compete.

India blocking 32 sites accused of hosting "Jihadi Propaganda"
Since it announced the block 2 days ago, India have revised it's decision unblocking few like Dailymotion, Vimeo, github, Pastebin, Internet Archive ... yeah these were amongst the blocked sites!!!
These are not your typical jihadi sites, these are simply video or site hosting sites accused of hosting the content and caught in the crossfire of India's war on extremism! Actually it's more probable that you'll find 1000x more jihadi content on Youtube than on all these sites combined!! But i guess these companies have a much weaker defense team and global influence!!
Uber driver rapes female passenger, Uber banned in India's capital
Another hard blow to Uber, after being banned in many European cities, now it's India's capital that is banning the service!
"The services of Uber have been blacklisted. We have just issued an order saying Uber's activities stand banned in Delhi," said Special Commissioner of Delhi Transport Department, Satish Mathur.
The reason of ban in India is Uber failing to run basic background checks on wannabe drivers or subject the driver to a police verification, furthermore the service is "misleading customers" by offering them Taxis with All-India permits that cannot apply in Delhi from point-to-point ferrying customers. Uber is not a authorized radio cab service and has been operating illegally,"
This ban, comes a day after a 25 year old female passenger was raped by an Uber driver, Shiv Kumar Yadav, has a criminal history and was in fact arrested for raping another woman in 2011 while ferrying her in a cab from Gurgaon to Mehrauli.
Uber on a fast expansion plan, hoping to dominate the international markets before competing services rise, is probably the main cause why the company have no regard to passenger security, and the other reason is that without the license to operate as a cab service it can't effectively have a secure transport solution.
Chinese handset maker Xiaomi, become the 3rd biggest smartphone maker
Chinese handset maker Xiaomi has overtaken both Huawei and LG to become the third-largest smartphone maker in the world. Xiaomi shipped 18 million smartphones during the third quarter this year, compared to 5.2 million smartphones in 3rd quarter of 2013.
Samsung and Apple maintained their positions as the first and second largest smartphone vendors worldwide respectively, while Xiaomi experienced significant growth as its market share grew to 5.6% in the third quarter, mainly thanks to it's success at selling entry-level devices in emerging markets such as China and India, where more expensive smartphone are not affordable. Another important factor is that basically Xiaomi is imitating the iPhones design, for example the 2S smartphone above looks like an iPhone 5c, and Xiaomi's flagship Mi 4 resembles the iPhone 5s!
Japan's Right to be forgotten by Google, won by a Japanese man.
Privacy is a right that countries should defend especially with leaks like the snappening and fappening ...
That's why certain countries are asking Google to change it's policies, and that's why the EU passed a law called the Right to be forgotten.
We previously established that when influential people demand, Google will comply, now what is needed is laws to protect the normal people that can't make the search giant comply!
In Japan, a guy got this right, through a court order, The Tokyo District Court on Thursday issued an injunction, ordering Google to remove 120 of 230 search results about a Japanese citizen that are considered to be violating his privacy.
The man felt his life was endangered by the results, and went to court probably after failing to get any response through the deletion request page.
Google said: “We remove pages from our search results when required by local law—including Japan’s long-standing privacy and defamation laws, .... We’re currently reviewing this preliminary injunction from the Tokyo District Court,”
Skype will stop calls on landline & mobiles in India
For a reason not unknown, Microsoft have made the ridiculous decision, starting November 10, to stop Skype's Internet calling delivery on landline and mobile phones in India.
Meaning, Skype users will no longer be able to buy credits to call Indian land-line numbers and mobile phones!
Skype is offering to fully refund the users who have been affected.
The reason are yet unknown, but they might be the result of pressure from the Indian government, Microsoft is known to quickly comply, unlike other companies that prefer to fight, or ignore pressure!
Google launch Android 1, a budget smartphone for 6,399 rupees - $105
Google by introducing a budget smartphone is trying to hit 2 birds with one stone, first it would like to dominate the south and south east Asia mobile OS market (Indonesia, Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.), and at the same time tries another approach to partnering with mobile-phone maker by dictating the phone specifications for a common model, instead of simply providing a mobile OS.
Head of Android in India, Sundar Pichai, said the Android One that the phones would be sold for as low as 6,399 rupees ($105) if bought contract-free.
Our goal was to develop high quality smartphones at an affordable price, with access to connectivity, done at scale around the world,... We provide our OEMs [original equipment manufacturers] a menu, effectively....They can choose the CPU [central processing unit], the GPU [graphics processing unit], the storage, the type of battery, the type of camera....It really saves them a lot of effort in terms of identifying the right hardware [and] doing all the testing you need to do to get the software to run on this hardware....We tune it, we work out the bugs… we keep it secure, we update it and so on.
Android 1 are produced by 3 companies but have same specs:
a 4.5in (11.4cm) display
1GB of RAM (random-access memory)
a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front one
a quadcore processor sourced from Taiwanese company Mediatek
the ability to run the next version of Android, due for release soon
they are also tailored to suit the local markets by including a micro-SD slot, a replaceable battery, a built-in FM radio and the ability to support two Sim cards simultaneously.
Japanese Rakuten wasted 1 billion on bad acquisition ?
Rakuten agreed to acquire Ebates for $1 billion, Ebates is a coupon and cash back site, that allows it's 2.5 million members to earn cash back when shopping online at over 2,500 stores including Amazon, Macy’s, Best Buy, Home Depot and others. In 2013, Ebates members supposedly spent $2.2 billion shopping through it's platform. The problem with this deal is the high value placed on the site users, which is $400 per user!!! This alone would render this acquisition a bad investment!
Earlier this year Rakuten purchased Viber, for almost $ 1 billion.
Since 2005, Rakuten has been working to expand beyond Japan by acquiring a number of startups and companies, including Buy.com (for $250 million in 2010) and Kobo ($250 million in 2012), and recently mobile shopping companion Slice and Viber. It also holds stakes in Pinterest and other companies.
