ik total penalty minutes and presumably average penalty minutes are easily available stats, but does anyone track like. something like an average penalty minute differential between teams? like. how many penalty minutes one team takes at home (for example) on average vs the average number of penalties road teams take in games against them. i don't know a ton about sports statistics and am bad at stats generally but i guess what i'm getting at is is there any way to mathematically look at whether a team is disproportionately penalized? ideally in a way that would control for actually being more physical or crime loving (maybe penalty minutes:hits or something would be more useful????). asking for my friend the seattle torrent.

Hot take but Montreal should pick Minnesota for the playoffs for two strategic reasons:

1) Even though Minnesota has won the last two cups, Montreal plays against them really well in the regular season (something like 11-3-1 in total)

2) It will be straight up embarrassing if we pick Ottawa twice and lose to Ottawa twice
