This is my attempt to document as I grow my hair out for the 5th time to be donated. Hair growth check time!

The first is right after my chop (5/5/12) to yesterday

The second is my growth since my last trim (1/23).

Soooo sloooooow!

In the other pics, the reason I wasn’t smiling was because I was unhappy with how she styled it after doing the donation chop. Then in all my other groth pics, I also didn’t smile to make it match. Yesterday I decided I didn’t care.

I started this new blog because it was too time consuming to keep up with multiple ones. All my hair stuff will be over here now.

Not hair related (obviously), but I needed a place from which to pin this.

Baby Beef & Veggie Meatballs

Ingredients:

about 1/2 of a 1 lb package ground beef

about 1/2 a single serve container of unsweetened applesauce

a handful of spinach, torn into little pieces

the rest of the leftover lentils

a few dumps of baby rice cereal (until the mixture is not so wet)

sprinkle each of onion powder, oregano, and basil

As you can see, I'm very precise. You could also add other grated veggies. For older babies, I'd recommend an egg to help the balls hold together better than mine did.

Method:

  Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mush it all together with your hands until blended.

Form into balls.

I baked mine in a 350 deg. oven for 25 minutes, but there was a lot of grease in the dish. Next time, I think I will cook them in the skillet unless I use lean beef.

The balls didn't hold together, but he was able to break them up and pick up the bits and eat them. More ended up in his mouth than in his lap, so that's a win.

He ate 2, but it had only been a couple hours since his breakfast.

I forgot to take a photo Sunday, which was a year since the chop, so I took one today since I had one from exactly a year ago.

1 year of growth minus 1 trim and 1 cut-that-was-supposed-to-be-a-trim.

I wanted to make this cute skirt but with my red knit, but I realized it was going to be waaay too short for me.

It was super easy to make- just 2 places to sew!. I laid my elastic down to see how wide to make my casing, sewed the whole width for the casing, worked the elastic through, pinned it in place, and sewed the two ends together. Then I trimmed it to the length I wanted. No need to hem.

"Buddy Buns"

time: under 5 minutes

materials: 2 elastics, decorative hair tie, bobby pins

works on: hair long enough to make pigtails

wetness: towel-dried

directions:

Divide hair into two roughly even sections and tie back one with an elastic.

Brush loose section into a pigtail, making it as close to the center of the back of your head as possible. Secure with elastic.

Do the same to the other side.

Twist each pigtail into a bun and secure with bobby pins.

If your buns don't quite touch, use the decorative piece to smoosh them together.

Pin any loose strands if desired or leave it on the messy side.

5 minute or less hair styles for shorter, wet hair

Last week I saw a pin of "17 hairstyles in 10 minutes or less."

Firstly, if I'm going to spend 10 minutes on my hair, I might as well just blow dry it (something I only do a couple of times a week).

Secondly, most of the styles were for 1. long hair and 2. day old hair. I don't have long hair, and my oiliness won't allow me to skip a day of washing if I plan to leave the house.

Therefore, I decided to make my own collection of styles that can be done in less that 5 minutes with wet hair. I'll be posting them for a while, then gather all the links into one post.

Maybe it will help out some others that don't like to blow dry often but also get tired of a ponytail all the time.

Thanks in part to an overzealous stylist at my last trim, this is all the hair growth I've achieved in 9 1/2 months. I've gotten my hair trimmed twice in that time.

And before anyone asks, the expression is because I was a little upset after the first cut, and I've tried to duplicate it for the growth pictures.

Super-easy (& customizable) no-heat curls.

Start with wet hair. Or slightly damp hair, depending on how much curl you want.

Take a section of hair (big section for loose waves, small section for tighter curls) and twist until it turns on itself. Twist into a bun and secure with a small elastic.

Repeat for your entire head:

Leave twists up for and hour or so for waves like mine. Sleep on them to let dry completely for tighter curls.

I had one request for a custom hair clip and then I gave 2 of the ones I made to the little girl my parents are keeping for foster care. I have some left.
