La Douleur Exquise [closed with ask--blakebelladonna]
âI think there was an abandoned farmhouse or something of the sort another mile from here.â,Blake paused to ponder a bit, trying to recall the exact location. âI remember it used to be owned by the town long ago, but as time grew on they built a new one much closer to the heart of the town. I guess they got tired of the Grimm snatching up their pigs and chickens. Itâs been long forgotten since then.â
Blake would read over the words on the page a few times over, almost sadly before folding it once again and stashing it back. âSo, Ice King, is this your first time out in the woods?â.Blake turned to look at him. While he had skill, no doubt, she did have a vibe he wasnât so used to the setting. She felt bad to have thought it, but she wondered about his ability. Of course, she wouldnât say she was an expert at her craft either. From castle gossip, Blake had heard a lot about the Schnee family semblance, with itâs intricate glyphs, especially summoning.Â
âBy all means.â Weissen motioned for Blake to lead the way, staring through the darkness that only faunus eyes could penetrate. He tried to control his negative emotions. Though towns and cities generated more negativeness than the two of them would, they were easy pickings in comparison.
He had no one to blame for this mess but himself, which meant he had no right to complain when Blake gave her heart to another.
âWhy does everyone keep calling me that?â He didnât pout - Schnees didnât pout - but it was something close to it. âBut yes, if you must know, this would be my first time unaccompanied by guards of some sort.â He fingered the hilt of his rapier. âI do have experience hunting game and grimm alike, but never like this. Forgive me if I seem uncomfortable.â
âAs long as you could hold your own, itâs fine.â,she said simply, stepping in front of them to lead. After a few more minutes of silence and walking through the darkness with Weissen literally blindly following behind her, she paused. Her abrupt stop made Weissen bump into her, giving a whiff of whatever cologne he was wearing. âSomething is circling us. And  I donât think theyâre alone.â,she whispered, unsheathing Gambol Shroud.
There was no way Weissen could help at the moment with the absolute darkness, but Blake doubted she could take on more than one, just maybe two. âOn the count of three, you need to break for the edge of the woods.â
The edge of the woods was better illuminated by the town and crumbling moon, and Weissen would be of use with his sight. She planned to give Weissen a head start and fend the Grimm off before joining him. Of course, this is all with the hope that it is only a few lone creatures and not a whole pack. The light pollution in the night sky above from the town gave a clear indicator where to go.
Hearing rustling sounds grow closer, she tensed up and began to count, grabbing Weissenâs shoulder and backing up. âOneâŠTwoâŠâ,she began, her hold on his shoulder tightening. âThree..!â,she shouted as two dark shadows broke out of the brush, roughly shoving Weissen into the direction of light.
âBlake, wh-â Weissen squeaked in surprise. It wasnât hard to push him and he stumbled towards the clearing as the giant, black masses of grimm descended onto the spot heâd been a moment before. He let out a curse, then another, switching between English and German as he removed Myrtenaster from her sheath with a long, deadly note.
Useless, he was useless in the dark. And while faunus like Blake could see perfectly well, she was still going against two grimm. âBlake!â Runes glowed along the blade of his rapier, pulsating yellow with time manipulation. This particular glyph would only work if it activated on his target, and he didnât want to accidentally give the grimm a boost.
All he could do was pray she followed him into the light.
Blake used the time dilation glyph to her advantage, quickly flipping behind one of the shadows and slicing near itâs neck to critically damage it, just almost missing the vital point. She cursed at this and once more as she recognized what they were, Ursai. A Minor and a Major.
Long minutes would pass by, occasional roars of the Ursai flashes of light from Blakeâs pistol going off briefly illuminating the forest. For a brief moment, there was silence before the sound of a dying wail of one of the Ursa. The flashed of light would begin again and grow closer before Blake finally lept out from the trees, twisting her body midair to fire another couple shots before landing roughly near him.
âOnly the Major is left, I took care of the Minor.â.she said quickly before the other Grimm burst from the brush, getting back into position.Â
