OPEN RP. BEACH EVENT THING HOORAY
It had taken six hours of meticulous planning for Suki to realise that, really, there was no organising something like this- a beach trip with the amount of people she'd invited, all wildly different. So she'd sent out a date, time, and location, (and a request to only bring small weapons please, she could not handle more bloodshed than absolutely necessary) and let God do the rest.
She sat now on this beach (blissfully empty, for now) wrapped in a cardigan, waiting for the absolute chaos she had brought upon herself to begin.
Ok ok so this is an OPEN RP thingamajig. I wanted to do a summer event thing and the general population voted beach trip so here we are!! Anyone, and I mean ANYONE can join, just don't start a fight (ooc) etc etc.
Anyway yeah go crazy
He arrived only when the sun was still high, but not glaring, in a rusty old truck he’d somehow managed to drive through the bumpy, poorly managed roads.
All he’d brought with him were a pair of swim trunks he was already wearing when he arrived, a faded dusty green color, some sunglasses, and a small towel.
Frank Woods was not a fan of water, the only times he’d been in the ocean were on trips where David had forced him in, and if he didn’t have to go in today, he wouldn’t.
It only took him about five minutes to find a beach chair, something permanently installed by locals, before he stretched out on it, looking nearly blissfully asleep except for the mean sunburn that would probably find its way onto his tattooed, scarred, pockmarked skin.
Suki, polite to everyone but him, didn't greet him- in fact, she remained uncharacteristically quiet until he settled, when she pulled a beach ball seemingly out of nowhere and launched it at his head.
"Glad you made it, old man," she called.
He grinned as he swatted the beach ball away, sliding his sunglasses down just enough to see Suki without the dark lenses affecting his perception of her.
“Fuckin’ barely, it’s a miracle I didn’t break down on those shitty roads. Enough potholes for a family o’ prairie dogs to take root.” He grumbled, though his usual negativity seemed less prevalent today as he shifted his legs gingerly, brushing some of his overgrown hair out of his face.
A hint of red had already crept its way up his chest, and he’d probably be regretting not bringing sunscreen in a few hours.
"Oh, shut up, you grumpy old sod." Suki said it with great affection, pulling suncream from her bag and launching that at him too. "Put this on, granddad- you'll roast."
This time, it clocked him near directly on the forehead, and he grumbled about it, but reluctantly put the bare minimum of sunscreen on himself.
He didn’t seem happy about it.
Adler finally decided to make his appearance. He was the only one who didn't look strange with sunglasses- in fact, anyone might have struggled to recognise him without them, if not for the scar.
He made his way down, cigarette trapped between his teeth, barely paying any attention to Suki and instead directing his well-planned first words to Woods.
"Burnin' up already? Would've thought Vietnam made you tougher than that, Frank." The words mumbled around the cigarette as he held up a lighter to light it. He was smiling, ever so slightly.
He waved his hands dismissively, leaning back against the chair.
“You were red as a mad hen back in ‘Nam, don’t be giving me shit, Russ’.” Woods grumbled, a grin tugging at his lips as he pulled his own box of cigarettes from some hidden pocket in his swim trunks, leaning the cigarette forward, as if asking for a light.
He hadn’t brought his own lighter, almost as if he’d expected Adler to show up.
Adler had pulled the lighter from his pocket before Woods had even held out his cigarette, expecting it as soon as he saw the box- flicked the scuffed up zippo open and lit it, blowing out a small cloud of smoke himself as he slid it back into his pocket. He scoffed at Woods' remark.
"Yeah, yeah," he simply muttered, lowering himself down onto the sand. He slid his sunglasses down- just a little, just for a moment, to see the colour of the sea unfiltered.

Adler was the first there, so he sat hunched in his car, chain-smoking, in the hopes that he'd be able to make his appearance fashionably late- nothing worse than being the first somewhere. To make matters worse, it was Suki who'd organised this whole thing- and no one was better at taking the piss out of him than Suki Shiratori. She would be on him like a shark if she found out he'd left early.
I like you man, you're funny. Did you get dropped as a baby?
