Today I accepted a job to work as a columnist and illustrator for a newspaper. This, along with my schedule as a full time student, has led me to this decision: ASK-ALUCARD IS ON INDEFINITE HIATUS.
I will not be deleting this blog. It will remain, as long as Tumblr will let it, for your viewing pleasure.
Thank you to all of my followers! You have all made drawing this blog such a pleasure, and I appreciate each and every kind comment and wonderful question. I am very sorry to those whose questions I did not get around to answering. This blog has motivated me to improve in ways I wouldn't have otherwise, and I probably would have lost motivation to do it if it wasn't for all of you.
If the mood strikes me, I might upload an answer one day. However, I feel that this day is far in the future, perhaps during the summer when I am less busy.

I do not deny the years I spent with him as a close comrade, but, I think that I may have overestimated him in that time. In the end, he was revealed to be too much like every other human; still a brat, caught up in a child's pissing contest of strength.
[[Sometimes, I think that Alucard can be a little harsh judge of Walter's character, although much of what he said was true. Personally, I think that as Walter aged he spent his life giving genuine care to Integra and Seras. However, he could never shake that fear of death that had haunted him since childhood, and finding the decision he had made difficult to reverse, he decided to go through with it when the time came.]]

No one. I doubt Walter had much time for romance during his fighting days. A brat can't think much of anyone besides himself, anyhow.

My unpopular opinion about this character
Walter and I were never sexually or romantically involved. Did I tease him? Of course. Was there tension between us? Yes, you wouldn't expect any other reaction from a teenage brat. As much as Walter may have thought otherwise, he was, in some ways, as vulnerable as any other boy his age. To take advantage of that vulnerability would have been disturbingly reminiscent of my own childhood experiences.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
It would have been nice if he had been less of an idiot in Warsaw and didn't make some very poor decisions.

How I feel about this character
Integra has been many things to me. A child, a woman; a master, a countess. It is difficult to know where to start. Perhaps I should start at the beginning.
[[Alucard basically says it all. Personally, Integra is one of my favorite female characters from anime. She stands alone in that she is a legitimately strong and complex female character. For a nerd, whose self-confessed hobby is "jacking off" and who previously drew hentai, Kouta Hirano's sympathy and connection to her feminity is remarkable. In order to gain power, female characters often either use their sex as their main weapon against men, or totally ignore it so that they may compare to them. We see that Integra deals with a male-dominated society by leaning towards the latter: she dresses masculinely and calls herself "Sir." However, Integra's relationship to her sex is not as simply cut and dry as that. Integra is a different type of female character, one whose sexuality is subtle and implicit rather than treated garishly and with insensitivity. We watch her struggles as she comes to terms with her attraction to Alucard, struggling to balance the "innocent child," she once was, and probably wishes she could still be (see the end of Chapter 2), with the woman she is growing into.]]

My non-romantic OTP for this character
Integra mainly left the raising of Seras to me, but she served as a valuable role model to the initially bumbling girl, and occasionally coaxed her on her path to becoming a full-fledged vampire. She demonstrated with Seras the same exceptional sympathy she showed me. She was aware that Seras was as scared, if not more so, of the violence she was capable of committig as she was, and did not hesitate to remind the girl of her own humanity as easily as she reminded her of her vampire-dom. I'm also sure that the too became very close during my long absence. I owe Seras much for remaining by her side.
[[Also Enrico Maxwell. Those two are such polar opposite that they're interactions are downright comical. It's true on tumblr too.]]
My unpopular opinion about this character
Well, as far as I am aware, Integra is not a lesbian,
[[I really don't like when Integra suddenly becomes submissive to Alucard in fanfiction. It really annoys me because of all the strength she stands for in canon. The fact that she stands up to a man as physically powerful as Alucard is remarkable and should not be glazed over in favor of "hot smut."]]
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
It would have saved her some pain if she hadn't lost that eye. She seems to have fared well despite that, though.
[[I don't really gripe about things that happen in canon, so this is not so much something I wish had "happened," but something that I wish will happen and is sort of open to interpretation, depending on how you read the last chapter. I relaly hope that Integra chooses to let Alcuard drink her blood. I think there is some evidence in the chapter that indicates this so... you know, keeping my fingers crossed.]]

The Hellsing Organization operates under a pall of secrecy, so I really can not go and scare any human I have a whim to. I was, however, allowed to scare the Wild Geese quite often when they were first enlisted by The Organization. I believe I told Integra that it was some kind of "Courage Training." By the time I was done with them, they were fully armed with proper fear of the vampire and a pair of wet pants.
Oh, and about Integra and me...
We could probably keep building this tension forever. It's part of what keeps us together, and I'm in no hurry to lose it.
I must point out, too, that the level of sexual tension is nowhere near that of a scantily clad velociraptor. Pot calling the kettle black, hm? Don't be such a tease.
Two, actually. The first was a golden-hearted maiden, who shied away from the atrocities of war. As kind and pure as she was, we all know how the world treats those who are unwilling to dip their hands in blood. I neglected her, feeling that my holy wars and search for God were infinitely more important than the earthly life and light I shared with her, and she was alone my cursed brother Radu laid siege to the castle. My wife, still somehow loyal to a man whose ambition led to her death, threw herself from the tower into a nearby river, choosing death over submission to the Turks. The light of her life, already faint, faded to darkness, and her name still evades me now.
I threw myself further into my crusades, seeing the death of my life as a sign, a symbol from God that I was to seek and love only him, without distractions. I saw it as a message that the Turks would kill all things beautiful. My second marriage was a political agreement. I married a noblewoman of Wallachia in order to better my standing with the king. She kept me company during my years of imprisonment, and I grew fond of her, but I do not remember her very well, either.
As for a third... submitting to and groveling at the foot of a God or country is more foolish than swearing yourself to a human being. I wouldn't be averse to the idea. I might actually enjoy the opportunity to get it right this time.
