Hi! I’m Bornholm, a small Danish island in the Baltic sea! (Asks are open!)

Hi everyone! My name is Bornholm, but my human name is Mathilde Køhler. I’m a Danish Island in the Baltic sea, I’m actually geographically closer to Sweden than I am to Denmark!

My body and mind is that of a fourteen year old, but I’m actually about 1100 years old!

I really enjoy knitting, biking around my island, fossils, amber jewellery, and baking.

I hope I get to answer lots of questions and make friends!

She was born out of a cliff, but it took many attempts for her to actually survive the fall from the cliff and into the ocean water, it was first when Denmark found her a bit before the Kalmar union that she survived.

For many years she was left alone on her island with only her citizens to take care of her, because of this she can be clingy at times, and is secretly scared of losing contact and being a burden.

She’s part troll, though the percentage is unknown.

Her birthday is the 27th of May, since that’s the date the treaty of Copenhagen was signed. Which made Bornholm a part of the Danish kingdom again after Swedish occupation for a few years. (It’s not the actual island of Bornholm’s “birthday” Bornholm has the same birthday as the rest of Denmark in real life)

Denmark is her dad.

She’s fluent in Danish, Swedish, English and Norwegian. She knows a bit German, Russian and Icelandic.

Of course!! Oh where to start?

I used to have my own king! How cool is it that I was my very own kingdom once!? Ah it was great times, had lots of time to fool around back then! Though I do like being a part of the Danish kingdom now! Sometimes wonder how I would be if I still was my own kingdom…

I have the biggest medieval ruin in all of Northern Europe, Hammershus is what it’s called! It’s a ruin ‘cause after it stopped being a prison people just… took the bricks..

I’m actually closer to Sweden than to mainland Denmark.. Swe is less than eighty kilometres away while Denmark is 137 kilometres away. Pft… and Denmark wonders why I stay at my own place more than his in Copenhagen!

I’m the only rocky island in Denmark, hey speaking of which, i was born out of one of the cliffs, which is why I’m surprisingly strong for my age, and have strong skin, ‘cause I’m literally made out of stone!

I get my eye colour and bad eye sight from Sweden! I don’t use glasses much, usually just eye contacts.

I hope this doesn’t seem invasive or creepy, but can girl nations get periods/ menopause/ pregnant?

Hey don’t worry! In my opinion it’s not invasive at all, periods and all that crap is a normal part of a woman’s body, and the more we normalise talkin’ about it, the easier it becomes to learn about it!

All girl nations get their periods, sadly.. and I’d say the same about menopause, but the thing is that no modern female personification (of what I know) has become old enough to get their menopause, since our bodies work accordingly with how old we look, not how old we actually are, otherwise none of us would have periods!

But pregnancy is a whole other story… since we’re personifications it’s close to impossible to birth a human child, and the very few times a child has actually been born it died in less then a few hours! None of us are really sure why, personally I think it’s because we’re immortal to some extent, so that mixed with the fact that we’re a bit supernatural. And when all of those things tries to be passed down to a human something just doesn’t work along the way and the kid dies! No human could ever vessel being immortal and supernatural, their fragile bodies ain’t built for it!

sorry..... sniff i don't really know. this kind of feels like my fault because some of the fire/climate budget was cut and now we're paying for it, but i know it's not entirely my fault. i didn't have much of a say in what they were doing cough cough. it doesn't really matter now because we need to focus on surviving, politics be damned. we need to focus on living and helping each other so we have a future to prevent this from happening again
