Cyndy stood on the edge of the bathtub. It was risky business but she needed to see into the mirror, she needed to see the state of her loose tooth. It had been loose for a few weeks now, but it still hadn’t come out, it was annoying. It hurt when she was eating, it hurt when she was running, and it hurt when she wanted to do anything.
Terry had offered to pull it out, but she’d taken one look at those pliers and took off running in the opposite direction. Amelia suggested slamming a door with her tooth tied to it, but Armin had quickly shut her down on that one saying it would hurt worse. Emma had suggested knocking it out and Marius had been rather swift to turn that down.
Maybe she could pull it out herself, that couldn’t be too hard. She started to lean forward only for someone to knock on the door. Her head instinctively whirled around.
“Cyndy are you alright in there?” It was her big brother, Colin, she gasped at his voice. Maybe Colin had a way to help with her too-!
She slipped and fell into the bathtub with a loud thud. She wasn’t hurt too bad, and her stupid tooth was still in her mouth, but the curtain had fallen along with her. The child got back on her feet and sighed. Of course it was still in her mouth, it would probably never come out.
“Cyndy are you injured?” Colin stood tense on the other side of the door. He tried to open it only to discover it locked. She wasn’t responding, he had to breakdown the door. “Cyndy stand back!”
She frowned and went to the door, realizing her brother was still speaking to her. Cyndy unlocked and opened it. “Wha-!”
He collided into the door, smacking her in the face with it. Everything was white, then black for a second. Her entire face hurt a lot. Slowly, she opened her eyes and cringed at the bright lights. She looked down and saw red, opening her mouth to speak more came out. Something wrapped around her and Cyndy looked to see Colin’s worried face. Blood dripped onto his uniform.
“S-Sorry….” Then the pain in her mouth became apparent. Tears began spilling from her bright red eyes, mixing with the blood streaming from her nose and mouth, forming pools on her own clothes along with her brothers.
“No need to apologize, don’t apologize, you did nothing wrong.” It was odd, how her brother managed to say calm in the midst of a crisis like this. He sat her down on the toilet lid, made her press a washcloth to her nose, and gently began examining her face. He made her open her mouth and gargle salt water a few times before explaining to her what happened. “Looks like your tooth came out, the impact must have knocked it loose.”
“ ‘Y ’OOF’ ‘AME OUT?” She gasped, holding her mouth open for him to dab at the space with a q-tip. “AWE’OME! ‘An I ‘ee it?”
“Ummmm, I’m not sure where it is.” He frowned and glanced back at the door. Scanning the area he could only see blood, blood, and more blood. Upon closer inspection he was able to locate and show her the front tooth. “I’ll hold on to this for now, in the mean time we need to work on treating that face of yours.”
“I ‘et ‘o ‘ury it in the yar’!” Her eyes practically sparkled.
“Or you can put it under your pillow and get money for it.” Colin really needed to get his parents old teaching out her head. No more hearing that she was a bad girl, no more being told that she must bury her hair and teeth, no more of their old abusive ways. “A front tooth is worth at least ten dollars.”
“I wanna bury it, and grow a tooth tree!” She said firmly, pushing his hand away from her mouth. “Keep the demons away from the house.”
Colin sighed and gave up then, not wanting to get angry or upset her. He had just smacked her in the face with the door thinking she was hurt. Looking around, Colin realized the curtain had fallen, was that what he had heard? Great, he’d overreacted. “Your mouth should be fine now, thought I might have to call Daniel. Go play.”
She got off the toilet and walked out the bathroom to show the others her new gap.
Thank you op for warning people of this because I am one of those people who gets scared by those and I’m just thankful that I won’t have to deal with at least that one.
You know, white people always act like adopting any child of color makes them woke, but if a person of color was to even attempt to adopt a white child they’d probably freak out and refuse to let it happen.
Two my the most favorite characters:So!! Currently i’m into Danganronpa, so at this time both my faves from it - Chiaki Nanami and Kiyoyaka Ishimaru!! I have a thing for dorky class presedents????
