Aurelia walked into the concert hall where the dance performance would be held. Misyel-min had sent the details and tickets a while ago and she had anxiously awaited the day when she would actually get to see the dancer.

There is about half an hour left until the start of the dance concert. Misyel-min, with the help of one of her dance friends, finished braiding the golden tinsel strands into her hair. She gets dressed into her Athena costume for the opening number. Carefully, the dancer places the headpiece on her head. Her friend takes a picture of Misyel’s and hers costume.

As she made her way to her seat, she noticed that she really did have some of the best seats I the house. She pulled out her phone to send off a quick text before the concert.

A: Good luck! The seat is perfect! I’m sure you’ll do great!

Just as she was going to turn her phone off, Misyel go a text notification from Aurelia. She smiled at the simple compliments.

M: Thank you! I really appreciate everything you did for me!

She smiled and put her phone on do not disturb, waiting till the performance would start. She was excited to see both the dance and the dancer.

The dancer and her dance mates make their way over to side stage, waiting for the announcer to announce the beginning of the dance concert.

When the performance is over for the day, Misyel-min changes into casual clothes and heads down to the lobby to meet up with Aurelia.

Aurelia watched with rapt fascination. The costume and choreography fit perfectly and the dancers were beautiful.

She waited in the lobby where they had agreed to meet. “Misyel-min!” she called when she noticed the other.

Anger was not a trait often exhibited by Seung-gil, if his nature was anything to judge. But here he found himself yelling himself hoarse into the phone with someone. In his anger he neglected to notice that his sister had been at the doorway this entire time…

“Gilly, are you okay?” Misyel-min asks with a hint of giggling.

Seung-gil huffed in what seemed like pure anger as he finally hung up, looking over to his sister. He hadn’t realised that he had been cursing in Korean half the time.”Oh, Min. I just had to deal with this rude arrogance son of a—” Becfore he could lose it again, he took a deep breath and sighed. “Apparently, I gave my number to a tabloid writer and he had been calling me nonstop and trying to make a scandal out of me. I just finished telling him off.”

She covers her mouth in an attempt to stifle her laughter, but she was failing miserably.

“Jeez. I never expected to hear you be so…expressive.” she replies with a chuckle.

It didn’t occur to Seung-gil about everything that she had said, until now.

“I usually respond calmly, but that man was really getting on my nerves…I’m thankful it is over. Let’s hope he does not call again.”

“Hopefully, he doesn’t call again.” Misyel lets him change the topic to something less rage inducing for him.

He calmed down and took a deep breath. “So anyways, what did you need me for?”

“Oh. I just came up here to check if you were okay ‘cause I heard you yelling.” she replies.

“I’ll leave you alone now since that’s all sorted out.” Misyel excuses herself.

He was pretty sure that he had done something ill when he realised that Min only came out of concern. In a fraction of a thought, he really didn’t mean to come off as rude.

“Wait.” He called to her, before walking over to her and ruffling her hair woth a slight smile. “Thank you.”

Sang Kil smiled tiredly as he waited for Skype to go through on his phone. Despite being in the hospital with pneumonia he always smiled whenever it came to his older siblings. He coughed harshly shivering as he forced himself to sit up.

Misyel-min pressed the call button. She waited for a few second before he picked it up.

“Hey, Sang Kil,” she greets her little brother. “Are you feeling better?” The middle Lee child positions her phone in a way where she can comfortably see the screen and type out work on her laptop. She was aware that he was in the hospital with pneumonia.

“What do you want for your birthday?” she asks him.

“I’m feeling okay Min. The coughing is still there.” He said softly as he hugged the stuffed husky their older brother got for him.

He blinked surprised when his sister mentioned his birthday.

“Oh god I forgot it was coming up. I’ve been in the hospital so much it slipped through my mind.”

She looks at her brother’s face on her phone. She really hoped that she could go back home in time for his birthday, but the performance had to fall on the same day.

“So what do you want so that I can mail it over?” she asks him. “I have a performance on your birthday that I can’t miss, so I can’t physically go down and see you and Seung-gil, but we can FaceTime during my breaks.” Misyel continues to type away on her laptop.

Sang Kils face fell as he heard the words. Sure he was used to his siblings going out of the country all the time but he missed them so. It was one of the few times he hated being frail and sickly.

“I-Its okay big sister. I understand. You’ve been practicing for weeks. I’m sure you’ll do well.”

He forced a smile before thinking about what he wanted. He was running out of origami paper and there was a book he was dying to read.

“Just some origami paper and a copy of The Nightingale.” He spoke softly.

It hurt for her to see Sang Kil like this. She knew that he wanted to be with both Seung-gil and herself.

“I really wanted to see you on your birthday.” Misyel smiles at him. “Okay. I’ll get you origami paper and The Nightingale.”

She does an Internet search of stores close to her residence where she could find a pack of origami paper and the book. Luckily, she does.

Sang Kil smiled at his older sisters words. True they were close when they were little but when his siblings started going out to achieve their dreams he couldn’t help but envy them.

They were so lucky to be out and about, Winning competitions and putting performances. He would love to trade his whole life for just a single day as theirs. He hated being confided home and the hospital due to his many medical issues.

He wasn’t ungrateful for his family but traveling around the world would be a dream. Sadly traveling in a plane would be too much for his body to handle.

Misyel-min wished that she could one day invite her little brother to one of her dance concerts in Hawai’i. She knew it doesn’t feel the same when watching a recording of the performance.

She shifts her eyes over to the time on her phone. Ten minutes until dance practice! She begins to log off and shut down her computer.

“Sorry to cut our conversation short, but I have practice in a few and then have to run some errands. Saranghaeyo, Sang Kil.”

Sang Kil smiled a little as he looked at the presents his older siblings got for him. He never felt so happy to spend time with his older brother.

He was completely surprised when Seung Gil arrived at the hospital with Min So holding an arms load of gifts. They spend the entire morning talking and laughing while watching a few movies.

Misyel runs out of the taxi with her suitcase and duffel bag. The performance was rescheduled next month due to equipment failure. When she learned about the change, Misyel booked a flight from Honolulu straight to South Korea. She sees her older brother’s car and uses the spare key that he gave her to unlock it and put her suitcase in the back. She sends him a text telling him that she is at the hospital and is going to go up to the room.

She makes a quick stop at the hospital’s cafeteria and gets herself a cup of hot chocolate and a chocolate chip muffin. Checking her duffel bag, Misyel-min makes sure that the pack of origami paper and the copy of The Nightingale was packed in the bag. Luckily for her, they are both accounted for. The professional dancer makes her way up to Sang Kil’s hospital room.

Misyel-min knocks on the door when she arrives at his room.

Sang Kil didn’t understand why his older brother was smiling at him like that. Sure he was having a good time but what happened that made his older brother smile so easily.

He picked up the picture frame on his side table. It was one of many things he was grateful for their mother bringing for him. It showed the three of the sitting together on a bench making silly faces at the camera while Seung Gil’s husky was in front of them.

He jumped at the sound of someone knocking on his hospital room door.. With a soft voice he called the person to come in.

She enters her brother’s room with a big smile on her face. After dropping her duffel onto a chair, Misyel-min makes her way over to her little brother.

“Happy birthday, Sang Kil.” Misyel envelopes him into a big hug. She lefts go of him and walks over to her bag to grab her presents for him.

“Here you go.” She places the beautifully wrapped presents on his lap before giving him another hug.

Sang Kil’s eyes widened before his broke out into a huge grin.

“Misyel-Min!” He cried as he hugged her happily. “I cant believe you’re here! I though you had a performance!”

He looked at the presents and smiled knowing what they were. “I love you guys so much.” He said as they got into a sibling hug.

“Well, I did, but it got cancelled due to equipment failure.” she explains as she is pulled into another hug. This time with Seung-gil.

“We love you too.” Gil and Min answer at the same time which results with the latter giggling.

The siblings chat amongst themselves.

“I wish I could join you guys in your competitions. I hate being at home all the time. Mother won’t stop smothering me!” He made a face.

Sometimes being the baby of the family wasn’t really as fun.

Misyel-min lets out a laugh.

“I would pay to let mom baby me.” She pets his head. “You have it easy. Being an “adult” is hard.”

Seung-gil rolls his eyes.

“Says the one who isn’t a legal adult in both South Korea and the United States.”

“Least you guys aren’t sick all the time. Or have a weak boby like me….” He spoke softly as he looked down

Misyel pulls him into another hug.

“Just give yourself some time and you’ll be able to roll with us and travel the world. I know it.” She hugs him again.

He coughed harshly shivering as he hugged her back.

“I hate being here all the time…I feel alone.”

She lets go of him and sits next to him.

“I know how you feel, lil bro.”

He sighed as he felt Seung Gil pet his hair. It was a rare thing for his older brother to do but he enjoyed it.

Misyel giggles when she watches her older brother pet Sang Kil’s hair. It is a cute gesture that he rarely does. She kisses Sang’s forehead before getting out of her seat and going back to her stuff that she left on the counter.

Sang laid down on his pillows being grateful for the quilt Min So got for him

Misyel lays down on one of the long chairs that are situated along one of the walls.

“I can’t believe it’s your birthday. I still remember when you were a tiny baby who was afraid of his own shadow.” She and Seung-gil both laugh at the memory.

He pouted blushing. “Hey! Mama told me you loved your bear footie pajamas and kept following big brother around.” He held back a laugh.

“Aww! You’re so cute when you blush.” Misyel-min giggles at his adorableness.

“I’m not denying it. It was so cute and I don’t follow him anymore. I surpassed him.” she replies pridefully.

He laughed before coughing loudly as he felt Seung Gil rub his back. A bit of blood landed on his hand.

After quickly getting off of the chair, she passes him a napkin to wipe away the blood.

“Do you want anything?” she asks him.

“Just really weak.”

“What do you want for your birthday?” she asks him.

“I’m feeling okay Min. The coughing is still there.” He said softly as he hugged the stuffed husky their older brother got for him.

He blinked surprised when his sister mentioned his birthday.

“Oh god I forgot it was coming up. I’ve been in the hospital so much it slipped through my mind.”

She looks at her brother’s face on her phone. She really hoped that she could go back home in time for his birthday, but the performance had to fall on the same day.

“So what do you want so that I can mail it over?” she asks him. “I have a performance on your birthday that I can’t miss, so I can’t physically go down and see you and Seung-gil, but we can FaceTime during my breaks.” Misyel continues to type away on her laptop.

Sang Kils face fell as he heard the words. Sure he was used to his siblings going out of the country all the time but he missed them so. It was one of the few times he hated being frail and sickly.

“I-Its okay big sister. I understand. You’ve been practicing for weeks. I’m sure you’ll do well.”

He forced a smile before thinking about what he wanted. He was running out of origami paper and there was a book he was dying to read.

“Just some origami paper and a copy of The Nightingale.” He spoke softly.

It hurt for her to see Sang Kil like this. She knew that he wanted to be with both Seung-gil and herself.

“I really wanted to see you on your birthday.” Misyel smiles at him. “Okay. I’ll get you origami paper and The Nightingale.”

She does an Internet search of stores close to her residence where she could find a pack of origami paper and the book. Luckily, she does.

Sang Kil smiled at his older sisters words. True they were close when they were little but when his siblings started going out to achieve their dreams he couldn’t help but envy them.

They were so lucky to be out and about, Winning competitions and putting performances. He would love to trade his whole life for just a single day as theirs. He hated being confided home and the hospital due to his many medical issues.

He wasn’t ungrateful for his family but traveling around the world would be a dream. Sadly traveling in a plane would be too much for his body to handle.

Misyel-min wished that she could one day invite her little brother to one of her dance concerts in Hawai’i. She knew it doesn’t feel the same when watching a recording of the performance.

She shifts her eyes over to the time on her phone. Ten minutes until dance practice! She begins to log off and shut down her computer.

“Sorry to cut our conversation short, but I have practice in a few and then have to run some errands. Saranghaeyo, Sang Kil.”

Sang Kil smiled a little as he looked at the presents his older siblings got for him. He never felt so happy to spend time with his older brother.

He was completely surprised when Seung Gil arrived at the hospital with Min So holding an arms load of gifts. They spend the entire morning talking and laughing while watching a few movies.

Misyel runs out of the taxi with her suitcase and duffel bag. The performance was rescheduled next month due to equipment failure. When she learned about the change, Misyel booked a flight from Honolulu straight to South Korea. She sees her older brother’s car and uses the spare key that he gave her to unlock it and put her suitcase in the back. She sends him a text telling him that she is at the hospital and is going to go up to the room.

She makes a quick stop at the hospital’s cafeteria and gets herself a cup of hot chocolate and a chocolate chip muffin. Checking her duffel bag, Misyel-min makes sure that the pack of origami paper and the copy of The Nightingale was packed in the bag. Luckily for her, they are both accounted for. The professional dancer makes her way up to Sang Kil’s hospital room.

Misyel-min knocks on the door when she arrives at his room.

Sang Kil didn’t understand why his older brother was smiling at him like that. Sure he was having a good time but what happened that made his older brother smile so easily.

He picked up the picture frame on his side table. It was one of many things he was grateful for their mother bringing for him. It showed the three of the sitting together on a bench making silly faces at the camera while Seung Gil’s husky was in front of them.

He jumped at the sound of someone knocking on his hospital room door.. With a soft voice he called the person to come in.

She enters her brother’s room with a big smile on her face. After dropping her duffel onto a chair, Misyel-min makes her way over to her little brother.

“Happy birthday, Sang Kil.” Misyel envelopes him into a big hug. She lefts go of him and walks over to her bag to grab her presents for him.

“Here you go.” She places the beautifully wrapped presents on his lap before giving him another hug.

Sang Kil’s eyes widened before his broke out into a huge grin.

“Misyel-Min!” He cried as he hugged her happily. “I cant believe you’re here! I though you had a performance!”

He looked at the presents and smiled knowing what they were. “I love you guys so much.” He said as they got into a sibling hug.

“Well, I did, but it got cancelled due to equipment failure.” she explains as she is pulled into another hug. This time with Seung-gil.

“We love you too.” Gil and Min answer at the same time which results with the latter giggling.

The siblings chat amongst themselves.

“I wish I could join you guys in your competitions. I hate being at home all the time. Mother won’t stop smothering me!” He made a face.

Sometimes being the baby of the family wasn’t really as fun.

Misyel-min lets out a laugh.

“I would pay to let mom baby me.” She pets his head. “You have it easy. Being an “adult” is hard.”

Seung-gil rolls his eyes.

“Says the one who isn’t a legal adult in both South Korea and the United States.”

“Least you guys aren’t sick all the time. Or have a weak boby like me….” He spoke softly as he looked down

Misyel pulls him into another hug.

“Just give yourself some time and you’ll be able to roll with us and travel the world. I know it.” She hugs him again.

He coughed harshly shivering as he hugged her back.

“I hate being here all the time…I feel alone.”

She lets go of him and sits next to him.

“I know how you feel, lil bro.”

He sighed as he felt Seung Gil pet his hair. It was a rare thing for his older brother to do but he enjoyed it.

Misyel giggles when she watches her older brother pet Sang Kil’s hair. It is a cute gesture that he rarely does. She kisses Sang’s forehead before getting out of her seat and going back to her stuff that she left on the counter.

Sang laid down on his pillows being grateful for the quilt Min So got for him

Misyel lays down on one of the long chairs that are situated along one of the walls.

“I can’t believe it’s your birthday. I still remember when you were a tiny baby who was afraid of his own shadow.” She and Seung-gil both laugh at the memory.

He pouted blushing. “Hey! Mama told me you loved your bear footie pajamas and kept following big brother around.” He held back a laugh.

“Aww! You’re so cute when you blush.” Misyel-min giggles at his adorableness.

“I’m not denying it. It was so cute and I don’t follow him anymore. I surpassed him.” she replies pridefully.

23. Your character walking in on mine shouting down the phone.

Anger was not a trait often exhibited by Seung-gil, if his nature was anything to judge. But here he found himself yelling himself hoarse into the phone with someone. In his anger he neglected to notice that his sister had been at the doorway this entire time…

“Gilly, are you okay?” Misyel-min asks with a hint of giggling.

Seung-gil huffed in what seemed like pure anger as he finally hung up, looking over to his sister. He hadn’t realised that he had been cursing in Korean half the time.”Oh, Min. I just had to deal with this rude arrogance son of a—” Becfore he could lose it again, he took a deep breath and sighed. “Apparently, I gave my number to a tabloid writer and he had been calling me nonstop and trying to make a scandal out of me. I just finished telling him off.”
