Mobei Jun laid on his bed and gently pet the rabbit. Xiang Fei was intelligent, but his small soft form and clear need to be protected still charmed Mobei Jun deeply. The foolish rabbit would die so easily without Mobei Jun there to protect him.
He was sure he had before.
Mobei Jun was determined to not let that happen again. He ran a cold clawed finger across the rabbit's soft belly.
Xiang Fei's feet twitched, ticklish even as he slept. Sorta slept. Really he was doing his best to meditate, using the bunny cultivation knowlege he gained from the shop. It was kinda difficult to focus with his king there, teasing him. Still he tried to lock in. He was making slow progress, but progress non the less.
Mobei Jun withdrew his hand. A moment later he reached over to very gently grasp one of those little twitching feet.
Xiang Fei huffed and opened one eye to look up at Mobei-Jun. He jerked his foot in an attempt to get free internally scolding his king for making this so hard.
Mobei Jun rumbled at Xiang Fei. "You are small."
His foot kicked out, smacking the big hand.
'You're big! Let me cultivate!'
He huffed, rolling around to sit up. His nose twitched in annoyance.
Mobei Jun's lip twitched slightly. He stopped teasing the rabbit and switched back to gently petting him. "You will need to go to Shang Qinghua again."
WHAT! THAT SMELLY BASTARD? NONONONO!
Xiang Fei thumped his foot, grabbing Mobei-Jun’s wrist and shaking his head.
Why? What am I doing wrong?
"You cannot come to Junshang's court," Mobei Jun told the rabbit sternly. The place was a viper pit.
Xiang Fei's ears dropped as he looked up with sad eyes. Then slid into Mobei-Jun’s sleeve, tucked away and so small no one would notice him!
I can hide so well! My king, please don't leave me with that scum!
Mobei Jun watched the bunny tuck away. Adorable, and perfect for carrying him. But. "You will be found." The security was tight thanks to the harem. And innocents were not safe.
How? How huh? Unless you have someone removing your coat who would be sticking their hands where they don't belong? You just want to be rid of me! I get it, tired of the wife and looking for something fresh to play with!
Xiang Fei huffed and puffed, wiggling deeper into Mobei-Jun’s sleeve. He even nipped at Mobei-Jun’s cold skin with irritation.
If Xiang Fei had been outside he would have seen the small twitch of Mobei Jun's lips that passed as a smile. If he wasn't determined to keep Xiang Fei forever he would have given in. He sat there in silence amd reached over a hand to gently place over the lump in his sleeve.
Xiang Fei paused in his ranging crawl. Mobei-Jun's hand was big and cool. He felt like he was tucked between two cold gel pads in summer. With a huff he deflated, still clinging to Mobei-jun's arm just still.
"I do not wish Junshang or his court to know of you. Not while Junshang is unstable." Mobei Jun was not as strong as the king should be. He feared for the rabbit. Especially with the plans being developed to destroy Xin Mo.
Sounds like an excuse!
With a huff, Xiang Fei wiggled his way free and out of Mobei-Jun’s clothes, hopping a few bunny paces away not looking at Mobei-Jun.
Now, Xiang Fei was no fool. He understood that Luo Binghe’s court was the most dangerous place in the three realms better than anyone. But still, it hurt his feelings that his King, who was willing to take him on hunts and into battle, wouldn't let him come this time.
His foot thumped in emphasis.
"You can use the time to cultivate," Mobei Jun suggested. "Grow stronger."
While you run off and marry a mistress?
Rabbits couldn't cry, but Xiang Fei felt like it. He hunched over, watching the blizzard hatchling waddle around on the floor, tripping over its own feet.
Mobei Jun watched. "The hatchling needs you."
Xiang Fei still stomped his foot. He was being spoiled, he knew it. Its not like he could really argue. He huffed, dangling a paw to bat at the hatchling's head.
Your father has to go out for milk.
"Shang Qinghua will protect you," Mobei Jun promised Xiang Fei. If the rabbit was harmed Shang Qinghua would die.
The hatchling hoped up and dragged itself up onto the bed. It was a bit bigger now, its fluff finally starting to come in. Now it looked more like a moldy fetus. It bumped and chirpped, rubbing against Xiang Fei while the rabbit huffed and puffed.
Mobei Jun reached over to patch both the ugly scruffy hatchling and his rabbit. "I will return as soon as I can." Xiang Fei had come specially for him. He would not let go of the rabbit easily.
Chest feeling tight, Xiang Fei leaped into Mobei-Jun’s chest.
The hatchling chirpped, nuzzling the ice king's hand.
Mobei Jun carefully cupped one hand around the hatchling as the other gently pressed down on Xiang Fei. He was silent, unable to think of what he could offer beyond the promise of his return. But he would return to his side again. They would turn aside the fate that threatened this world.
You better be good. Be safe. Come back soon. Don't let the other demons bully you.
Xiang Fei patted Mobei-Jun’s chest with a paw.
Mobei Jun leaned down and nuzzled the rabbit softly with his nose. Then he moved Xiang Fei and tucked him into his sleeve, gathering the rabbit supplies to take to Shang Qinghua.
The blizzard hatchling chirped in distress until it was also picked up and tucked away. A moment later Mobei Jun was standing in Shang Qinghua's house, causing the twitchy man to jump. "Ah, my lord! How can this servant help you?"
Mobei Jun silently took out Xiang Fei and the hatchling to gently put down. "Watch them."
Shang Qinghua stared unhappily at the familiar rabbit. "Yes my lord."
Xiang Fei's nose twitched angrily and Shang Qinghua. Ears pinned back and obvious annoyed, the hatchling immediately picked up that "mama" didn't like this person. It hissed at Shang Qinghua, showing it little teeth.
"Don't hiss at me, I'm not any happier about this than you are," Shang Qinghua muttered. He stared at the beasts. Could he get away with just dumping them in a room?
Xiang Fei huffed, and twisted to watched Mobei-Jun leave. In all his time in the northern desert he had never felt as cold as he did watching his special person leave.
Mobei Jun was gone far too swiftly, leaving Xiang Fei banished to this small cage.
Not even a goodbye? Xiang Fei's ears drooped, as he tightly rolled up in destress.
Silly rabbit, of course he left.
Xiang Fei scolded himself for being so emotional.
Shang Qinghua awkwardly walked around the room to resume sorting through a pile of artifacts meant to help one's cultivation grow stronger. The blizzard hatchling did not help the situation as it awkwardly stumbled into Xiang Fei, looking helplessly lost and confused in this new place.
Xiang Fei sat up and let the hatchling cuddle into his stomach. It was already to big to fit under him, its ugly little legs poking out as it raised Xiang Fei slightly off the ground. The rabbit patted the poor thing.
Its okay, I'm being dramatic. He's just off doing important king things. We would only get in the way.
"That is the ugliest thing I've ever seen," Shang Qinghua mumbled. "What is wrong with Mobei Jun to be adopting creatures suddenly?"
Ears folded back, Xiang Fei glared at Shang Qinghua.
You're the ugliest one here bitch!
He wished he could knock the shit out of Shang Qinghua. Instead he comforted the hatchling for a while before hopping over and slamming into the pile of items sending them scattering. Which delighted the hatchling, who loved to run and crash into things. It followed mama, slamming into another pile with happy trills.
"My things!" With a shriek Shang Qinghua dove down and raced around to try and protect his belongings from the clearly insane rabbit and hatchling. Every time he thought he was clear yet another pile fell!
This was absolutely a situation Shang Qinghua had neither prepared for or expected. It was completely outside the bounds of the plot.
Yet here he stood, in the Ice Palace, with a fourteen year old freshly unsealed Luo Binghe. And no explanation on why the seal broke early. Perhaps kidnapping Luo Binghe and taking him straight to Mobei Jun had not been his wisest move, but he had been panicked!
Mobei Jun was the acting king now anyways.
Mobei Jun stared at the scrappy half heavenly demon Shang Qinghua had brought to him. He was used to Shang Qinghua bringing him unexpected things. An entire heavenly demon however, was a new one.
"My King, I can't explain, but this is my nephew. Luo Binghe. His heritage suddenly awakened, and this servant paniced. I pray my king take pitty on the child and allow this servant to hide him from the sects that have already taken his parents."
Shang Qinghua pressed Luo Binghe’s head down to bow along side him. The poor kid was confused and scared, how the hell had this happened?
Mobei Jun tilted his head. "Your nephew is a heavenly demon," he tested. Did Shang Qinghua understand what he was saying? Tianlang Jun and Zhuzhi Lang had been the only known heavenly demons. How would Shang Qinghua be connected with them?
"My sister's son." He huffed a laugh, seeing where Mobei-Jun’s mind was going. That Scum Villain of his, Shen Jiu, would have beatef Shang Qinghua to death if he had ever heard someone call him Binghe's Mother. Take the L Shen-bro, Shang Qinghua can only manage so many misunderstandings and this was the easiest right now.
Next to him, Luo Binghe stiffened, trying to raise his jead enough to look at Shang Qinghua but Shang Qinghua held him down. Heavenly Demon or not, he was fourteen and barely a cultivator. Shang Qinghua had been secured as the An Ding Peaklord more than twice the kid's lifetime. With that came the years of training, physical and cultivation. This kid was born a century late to stand up to Shang Qinghua.
Mobei Jun nodded thoughtfully, studying the scrawny kid before him. He didn't seem like much. Mobei Jun could sense the demonic qi from him, and the mark on his forehead was clear. Mobei Jun was still sure he could snap the kid in half. Perhaps this was Shang Qinghua's influence? Shang Qinghua certainly appeared weak and pathetic. "He can serve me," Mobei Jun concluded. It would take work to train the kid up, but he would be powerful when older. Shang Qinghua had again given him a gift, this time one of his own blood. Mobei Jun rumbled.
Luo Binghe was visibly shaken by Mobei-Jun’s words and the following rumbles. As someone who had never been exposed to demons, much less the northern court, everything about them was alien.
"Thank you my king!" Shang Qinghua replied, and sounded genuinely relieved. Luo Binghe couldn't understand what was happening, but when Shang Qinghua stood Luo Binghe did as well. "This servant will make sure his nephew is of great service to you."
Mobei Jun nodded and stood up indicating with his head for Shang Qinghua to follow him with the scrawny half breed after him. He headed towards the family wing where Shang Qinghua had a room and study set up, not quite in the queen's rooms but close enough it was clear Mobei Jun was waiting for it. "How weak is he?" The kid looked like anyone could kill him.
"Right now, he wouldn't survive the winter." Shang Qinghua admitted, he didn't have to look to know Luo Binghe bristled at that. It as true though. The kid was was beaten and starved he didn't stand a chance in the Northern Desert's mildest winter.
Shang Qinghua relaxed some in the familiar halls, releaved Mobei-Jun was going to let him keep Luo Binghe close.
That was concerning. Mobei Jun promptly selected a room that could be easily modified to hold a charcoal brazier and contain heat. He gestured for the pair to step in. "We will work on that." First step would be feeding the scrappy thing well enough he wouldn't pass out. Then perhaps some easy hunts. Once Mobei Jun was sure he could do a successful small hunt he could start training him to fight. Right now Mobei Jun suspected even a friendly blow would kill him.
"Thank you my King." Shang Qinghua saluted, bowing low. This time Binghe didn't require yanking to follow suit. A look around and the respect Shang Qinghua was showing was more than enough for the boy to know the ice demon was powerful in many ways. "This servant will do his best to please you, my king!" Luo Binghe quickly picked up Shang Qinghua speech pattern.
Mobei Jun rumbled in satisfaction. He reached over to hit Luo Binghe before recalling how fragile he was and shifting his blow to cuff Shang Qinghua instead. Satisfied with the setup he went to see the servants necessary to alter the room.

Mobei Wang laid in his nest purring with contentment. Three healthy pups had been born just a couple hours ago. He had carefully cleaned them with the bath that had helpfully appeared near the nest before pulling them in to sleep with him. They were, in his mind, perfect. One had Shang Qinghua's tan skin. The other two were simply pale as snow. It was odd to see them lack the blue he had, but Mobei Wang knew they were still strong.
@askshangqinghua
Shang Qinghua was pacing, trying not to let his stress affect Mobei-Wang. He would step outside and shake himself, using a damp cloth to wipe his face and neck, before delivering things into the room. Clean silk towls, a copper tub of clean water, and even fruit juice. All the while he has a shadow stone tucked into his pocket, tuned to a matching one in Mu Qingfang's sleeve. Mu Qingfang may not be aware it was there, but Shang Qinghua made sure he would always have it.
It wasn't until all the pups were there and health, and Mobei-Wang was okay and safe, that he finally settled. He laid nearby, not yet invited to come over, watching his little family. Warm contentment settling in his chest.
Shang Qinghua's decision to trap Mobei Wang with pups was working well. With the pups there the omega's focus was solely on them. He was not restless and seeking things out, just staying put right on his nest with intense focus on the pups. It was only after a week of caring for the pups that Mobei Wang finally acknowledged Shang Qinghua as a presence beyond a source for the food and baths that were needed. He purred at Shang Qinghua. "Qinghua, our pups." He held one out towards the alpha.
Qinghua moved to the edge of the nest. He didn't want any of their pups more than arms reach from Mobei-Wang. He took the pup carefully, cradling van to his chest. He had held babies before, in his past life he had cared for younger siblings and cousins. In his current life he had again, as well as neighbors and young diciples.
That is to say, he was no stranger to holding tiny, wriggling, babies. As he looked at the pup, his and Mobei-Wang's child, he kept expecting some sort of parental spark or connection. None came. He was still more concerned about his mate, wanting to make sure Mobei-Wang was okay, did he need anything, was Shang Qinghua holding the child stressing him out?
Mobei Wang purred approvingly at his alpha. So attentive. He waited a few minutes before accepting the child back. "They will grow," Mobei Wang said with confidence. "They will be strong."
"Of course they will," Shang Qinghua's head tilted to the side, a bit confused as to why Mobei-Wang was trying to convince him. "They are my king's offspring." There was no doubt that the little half demons would grow into powerful beings. The Mobei clan might not be heavenly, but they were a long line of rulers. The fact that the pups were born at all with no obvious malformations told of how powerful they would become.
Mobei Wang purred as if Shang Qinghua had spoken some grand statement instead of what was, to him, simple fact. He leaned over to press his forehead against Shang Qinghua's.
Shang Qinghua rumbled happily. He had missed Mobei-Wang, even if he had only been a breath away thos whole time, he hadn't been able to touch.
Mobei Wang turned to focus on settling the pups back in the nest. With a stretch he carefully got up. It felt good to move.
Shang Qinghua had a moment of debate. He decided it might be better to stay by the nest, let Mobei-Wang have some space.
He knew parental bonds were diffrent in this world. Most things were scent based, so he took his time checking over the pups, sniffing and familiarizing himself with them. There may not have been a click, but they were still Mobei-Wang's children and he would take care of them.
Mobei Wang prowled around the room, clearly happy to be up and moving. He kept an eye on Shang Qinghua and the nest, fully confident his mate had everything under control for the brief time he was away.
When he finished he came back over and wrapped himself around Shang Qinghua.
Shang Qinghua was trying to focus on the infants. Teasing their feet to make them kick, their hands to make them grab, their noses to make them huff and sneeze. Really being annoying without causing to much stress.
As Mobei-Wang's weight settled on him he rumbled happily, twisting to nuzzle up. "How are you feeling?"
Mobei Wang nuzzled him back. Seeing Shang Qinghua playing with their pups reminded him why he had accepted all of this. Because having Shang Qinghua beside him was worth it all. "Good." He reached out and stroked one gently. "They're needy little things."
"But not loud," He noted, "They're lively but happy. Very good pups." He praised gently petting one of their smooth heads.
Mobei Wang purred and turned his head to kiss Shang Qinghua.
