Hey, welcome to neontiger! A story focused on a teenage Torracat and the 'mons she's close to! Updates are posted every other Friday!

I use tumblr almost exclusively on mobile and so the post versions might be updated more frequently than the actual tabs.

Fun Fact: the OGverse version of Yarrow is genderfluid + bisexual. I considered changing this version of him to match, but ultimately the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I think the subtle differences in these two AUs of him would result in him having different views of himself and his sexuality.
In preparation, I'd been trying to decide which of my askblog OCs I was going to draw with their respective flags. But decisions are hard and I have so many beloved kiddos- that's where you all come in! "I mean, yeah." Keahi says, continuing to knead her claws into the soft grass beneath her, "That's why I haven't said anything. 'S just...weird to think about it whenever I see her, ya know?"
"Heh, I get it. How about this: if Addy personally asks either of you if I have a crush, you're both more than welcome to tell her. Just don't bring it up yourselves, okay?" The Furret pauses long enough to watch Finn and Keahi mull this proposition over, before the both of them gave her serious nods of acceptance, "Alright! Now that the big stuff is out of the way, let's go find something to eat before bed."
It didn't take a lot of searching for them to discover some ripe berry bushes- a Furret's nose was too good for Journey to return to camp empty-handed, after all. Finn and Keahi helped her collect the best berries for a few minutes, before some comment or another sent the Torracat tackling her friend. All thoughts of helping were pushed to the wayside as the two of them went crashing through the clearing, sending clouds of fireflies fleeing up into the sky. Still, Journey couldn't find it in herself to be annoyed at them for the lack of focus. Things had been tough lately and she certainly wasn't going to begrudge Finn and Keahi their moments of fun and freedom. It was better than the alternative. And besides- Journey could carry enough berries for the whole group.
(@ask-neontiger) Finn@Taffy: "It's cool that you can sorta have conversations with your tail!" The Boltund says, eyes wide and earnest, "Do you like having a tail-friend?"
*Taffy gave Laffy a warning glance before returning her attention to the egg.*
Taffy: Don’t worry, I have no plans of eating it, or letting Laffy do so. It’s almost fully developed and should hatch soon!
*Taffy pondered for a moment about the Flareon’s question about being a parent. It’s not like she could return it to its parents, if it had any at all. She didn’t even know where it came from, and it most certainly wasn’t a normal egg. While she couldn’t put her hoof on it, she felt a unique aura coming from it.*
Taffy: I dunno if I’m even gonna keep it. I’m just caring for it and keeping it warm until I figure out what to do. I’ve put a signal out for my friend, Zipp. She’s another Joymaker Pokémon who reads a lotta books. I’m hoping that she’ll know what to do!
"You're still trying to process the fact that I have a crush on Addy, aren't you?" The Furret said, although it was more of a statement than a question.
She hadn't intended for the two teens to overhear that particular piece of information and as mortifying as it was to have to rehash it, Journey knew that there was no burying her head in the sand over this. If Finn and Keahi were upset by the news, they were only going to keep discussing it with one another- and every time they did was another chance for Adrienne to overhear too. She needed to nip this in the bud.
"I hope that eases your fears at least a little bit." Adrienne said with a weak smile, "We don't have to be on edge non-stop. Hell, we could probably stop and rest for the night too. We've had a long day, huh?"
This seemed to perk Finn and Keahi up some, but as Addy turned away, she failed to see the exchange another glance as soon as she wasn't looking. Perhaps the two of them were not being entirely truthful with the Pikund.
Journey forcefully clapped her paws together and smiled, "You know what? I think you're on to something there, Addy. Why don't you take first watch, while I take the kids to gather some supplies to make camp?"
(@ask-neontiger) Keahi@???: The torracat sits down near the Zygarde and tilts her head to the side in wonder, "Wow, I've never seen a Pokemon like you before. Who are you? Are you visiting this island for a reason?"
Typically my kind are seen as ones who balance the world, usually after an event that shifts global balance in a drastic way. The fact you haven't seen my kind before can only bode well, at least I hope!
I am Lord Series' right hoof! Since my creation, I have worked vigilantly to maintain balance as it sees fit. The presence of dragons in the universe has called for special attention, and that is why overseeing them falls to yours truly.
Of course with my presence, that brings into question the balance of things... much to discuss, that is for sure.
This island is one of the most stable mirage dimensions that I've come across! With its reasons of course, which Lord Series and myself are here to discuss as well. With it being so hidden away it truly is a bastion of security, with the added bonus the Resplendent One calls this island home too!
Until he arrives, we are passing the time in leisure before investigating points of interest here.

The shaymin glanced once back over at the sleeping mon, before glancing back. “I don’t NEED to wake him up, but help would be appreciated! It’s very boring without him awake to pester! …though I don’t think I recognize what you are? You don’t look like a shaymin I’ve ever seen before, or a pelipper!”
Hello Pokéask community. today, we are gathered here to talk about a rather pervasive issue within the community.
That's right, we are going to talk about:
TRANSMISOGYNY
I don't really need a preamble or anything. Yes, it's true, this community has historically been quite hostile to trans women. I've had a friend targeted with false accusations of being a creepy pervert for the crime of being trans and female. As if that is a crime, somehow.
We had a predator and known drama-monger some couple years ago who was able to get away with it for so long because most of their victims were trans fem, whom no one believed, because they were trans fem.
And of course we have had various incidents of people using any number of gross terms to refer to trans women, gleefully and casually.
So by now you are probably beginning to see the pattern.
Maybe you need some help. In that case I shall enlighten you...
So what is transmisogyny? It is exactly what it says on the tin: the discrimination and mistreatment of trans women. It is an intersection of transphobia and misogyny. As such it is both of those as well.
Why is it bad? Well, the better question to ask would be why *isn't* it bad? It serves no purpose beyond the spread of hatred as well as perpetuating the belief that women are like property that must look and act a certain way.
Who does it affect? Obviously the primary target is trans women, and you should care about the fact that it harms trans women. But in fact, transmisogyny affects everyone.
You might think "I don't hate trans women, so I'm not transmisogynistic!" and you may not be. But, you must also keep in mind that it is so deeply entrenched in society that you might say and do transmisogynistic things without knowing it.
For example:
Do you expect women or female characters to look a certain way? This could be plain old misogyny, but it could also be transmisogyny. If you've ever complained that a female character looks too much like a guy because her boobs are too small or her shoulders are too wide, etc., well yeah ... you are probably suffering from transmisogyny disease. And also general misogyny disease too, seeing as transmisogyny is a subtype of it.
Do you get grossed out by women with certain types of genitalia, insisting they censor themselves as some sort of fetish or otherwise sequester themselves away for the sake of others? It is transmisogyny. Regardless of what you are attracted to, a woman should not be forced to hide herself away as some kind of freak commodity simply because she is not what you personally consider desirable. Also, people are likely forced to interact with you on the regular, so it just makes you a hypocrite.
Do you refer to women by what is between their legs*? It is transmisogyny. It's a way to other women that do not fit the "norm".
Obviously, assuming any given trans woman is a secret pervert is transmisogyny. This may seem obvious but so many people do this! In LGBT focused spaces perhaps most of all!
there are many other examples but most tie back into the ones mentioned here. Please do a little introspection from time to time.
Trans women deserve to feel as safe and as welcome as anyone else here in this community.
Lastly: this post is about trans WOMEN (/trans fems). I am aware that other trans people exist, but there are certain pervasive attitudes that are near exclusively shown towards trans WOMEN, and so that is what this post is about.
*some trans women do refer themselves with such terms. There is a lot of debate about this matter, so try not to overstep if it is a trans woman herself using the term. She may be a victim of internalised transmisogyny but what people are comfortable with varies. But, never use terms like futanari or trap if you are not a transfem individual. Read the room.
(@ask-neontiger) Keahi: "You guys have gone on some adventures, right?" The Torracat tucked her paws underneath her in a loaf, sitting in front of Team Searchlights with bright eyes, "Will you tell me about an interesting one?"
"How about the one we took to get here?" Saltriv said, waving their leaf at the Torracat. "It's a really interesting story!"
"Uh, I d-don't know about th-that one—" Gen started, before Burhalla cut him off.
"Relax, Gen. People'll ask us about it sooner or later," the Charmander said, his tail flame flickering in the breeze.
"A...a-alright," Gen said, looking down at the ground.
"So, we were on the train, on our way back home from purifying a Shadow Pokemon," Saltriv started.
"We had received a prototype of a new entercard set from a Jolteon in Moonlight Town. Said they could make a magnagate all the way to the human world," Burhalla said, looking over at Gen. "They wanted us to deliver them to a Leafeon colleague of theirs back in Overcast Village, but..."
Gen took a deep breath, then said, "I, uh...hid in a storage closet on the train, and...tried to use the entercards myself. T-to get back home."
"The magnagate sucked the three of us in, and...we ended up in a weird rainbowy void, with a mystery dungeon in front of us," Saltriv said, tapping one of their hindlegs on the grassy ground. "It was right out of a dream!"
"I...was really mad at Gen," Burhalla said, looking away. "Shouted at him a bit, but...we had to find a way out, so...we entered the mystery dungeon together."
"it w-was really scary, full of really weird and powerful Pokemon, but, uh...me and Burhalla reconciled on the way through, so...th-that was at least good," Gen said.
"Eventually, we found an exit, and when we made it out...we ended up here, in the human world!" Saltriv said, wagging their tail.
"I didn't believe it at first, but Gen was sure of it. Something about the Pokemon around, and the language on signs? I don't really get it myself," Burhalla said, shrugging. "But apparently we're in a human place called Johto."
"Y-yeah!" Gen said, perking up a bit. "Th-this is...my home region. Now we just...need to find our way to Goldenrod City, and...h-hope for the best."

There were a long few moments where nobody said anything. Keahi and Finn exchanged a silent look, as though continuing their earlier whispering through mind alone. Eventually, Finn looked back at his sister with his ears back.
"We were just- uh, well, worried. You were reluctant to let us have that beach day and all..." He said, although there was an edge to his tone.
Keahi picked up where he trailed off, "Yeah, thinking about Ghost catching up to us is...scary. Even if it was really nice to just have fun with other Pokemon for a day."
