Len Has a Nightmare
(T rated KaiLen fic)
Len sprinted down a dark hallway. Rows upon rows of lockers blurred by his vision. The stretch was seemingly endless. His throat hurt from trying to keep up his breaths as he pumped his legs. He wasn't sure if they were still chasing him. He was too scared to turn his head.
Rooms whizzed by, but he finally spotted one that happened to be open. He knew he couldn't keep this up forever. He kicked his feet in its direction and closed the door as quickly and quietly as possible. He immediately crouched and held onto the door handle with all his might. The frame had a small window. It was frosted, but he didn't want to chance it. He tried his hardest to slow his breaths.
Seconds passed. Everything was silent, the only noise being the soft gasps he was still making. And then, the handle began to shake violently. "..!" Len's palm dug into it to keep it from opening. He desperately looked to see if there was a way to lock it, but it appeared to need a key. He grit his teeth in desperation.
It finally stopped.
Len didn't let go. Still on high alert, he listened closely.
The sound of a walkie talkie came, and a male's voice spoke lowly. "Kagamine Len isn't on the first floor that I can see. The janitor's closet is locked, but all of the other rooms are vacant."
Static.
"Affirmative. We caught Kagamine Rin. She is currently being brought to the van in front. Belligerent but unable to speak."
Len froze. His body ran cold.
"Good. I'll continue my search." The radio was switched off, and the sound of running faded.
Len opened the door slightly to peak out. He looked down the hallway from where he'd just ran. The image of Rin being held against her will plastered to his subconscious. Fear was flooding him. Only a second passed before he took off sprinting again, this time towards the entrance. He wasn't going to leave Rin behind.
He flung open the school's doors and saw it. A large, windowless van had its back doors open. He could see Rin flailing within it. She was being held down, and someone was attempting to bind her arms. Len bolted towards it. "RIN!"
A sea of gasps erupted from multiple humans grouped around the van. They immediately held up strange devices. "Len, we need to disable you and Rin. Stand down."
Len took a hard breath. Tears were falling down his cheeks. He closed his eyes tightly and then ran after her. A few of the humans met him and attempted to grab him. He was able to dodge one but was captured quickly after. There were simply too many, and Len wasn't built for fighting. He fell down on his stomach. He turned his head towards the van. Rin was clawing at her captors. Her blue eyes were locked on Len in desperation and full of tears. Her mouth was taped, but her attempted screams could still be heard.
His own mouth was quickly taped, and once he could see again, he heard it. A loud buzzing noise cracked through the air, and Rin quickly became limp.
"RIIIIIN!!!!" Len sat up in his bed in a cold sweat. His breathing was beyond ragged. He looked about in a panic.
A loud crash was heard from somewhere, and a confused Kaito came stumbling in. "Len! What happened?! You okay?!"
Len was silent and simply looked in the direction of his dark silhouette in a panic
Kaito tried to make his way over. Len's screamed had sounded absolutely terrified. "W-What's going o-"
"Rin! Sh-She's okay, right?!" He looked about in confusion. He patted the bed and tried to crawl out of the covers.
The lamp next to the bed flicked on, and he immediately closed his eyes from the brightness.
"Len, Rin is in bed..." His demeanor switched when he realized, "She's okay. Did you have a nightmare?"
"O-Oh..." He finally noticed the small charging text in his vision fading. His breath gradually calmed, but his body was still shaking. He felt the bed shift when the other vocaloid climbed in next to him. He looked down at the blanket covering his lap. "Sorry, Kaito."
He smiled sympathetically, "What happened in the dream?"
"Um.." He fought to remember. "We... were in some school, I think... I don't know why there... but we were being chased by people to shut us down."
"Huh? Why did they want to do that?"
He shook his head, "I think maybe because we were outdated? I'm not sure... but they caught Rin. They killed her, Kaito." Tears welled up in his eyes again as her muffled screaming played in his head. He buried himself in the blanket. "I know it was just a dream and silly, but..." He sniffled awkwardly.
Warm arms came around his shoulders, "No, Len. That does sound scary. Seeing someone you love, especially someone like Rin, being taken away from you would be horrible." He rubbed his shoulder and petted back his blonde hair. Len leaned into his side.
"Thanks, Kaito." His face was red and eyes stung from crying.
"You know, Rin would probably find it sweet that you cried over her."
Len snorted, "She'd just make fun of me. Like hell I'm telling her." He felt Kaito's gaze lingering on his profile. He nervously looked over.
His smile was warm and voice gentle, "You're so cute, Len."
He gaped, his cheeks burning from embarrassment now, "What?! No, stop it!" He turned but didn't try and run away from his hug.
"Adorable."
Len laughed, "Shut up, Kaito! Stop making fun of me!" He playfully pushed at his chest but suddenly stopped.
Kaito had kissed his cheek.
Green eyes met with blue in a state of shock. He looked down between them and muttered in a small voice, "Y-You're so cheesy, Kaito."
"Yeah, I know."
Len smiled shyly and nuzzled into his chest. The smell of his shirt was nice. "Thanks for being with me."
Kaito leaned back and gently lifted his chin. He pecked his lips softly, "Want me to lay down with you?"
He nodded slightly, "You mind?"
"Of course not." Kaito then suddenly flopped backwards, causing Len to tumble with him.
Len laughed loudly and struggled to reach for the lamp. It turned off, and he snuggled into his boyfriend once again.
