The drrr fandom may not be as active as it once was, but I'm so glad an ask blog's come back. Egor is one of my favourites, and I like your take and your art!

Also, thank you so much! I do my best to keep him close to in character. It will be interesting to blog as him again now that it is 2019~! Hey hey guess who is finally back? It took a while to figure out what my password was but I finally got it! I was inspired to get off my 4(?) year hiatus by a couple of friends and finally bring this account back to life! You will be seeing more of Egor soon, I'll make an official in character back post later. In the meantime, look forward to some new content!

On top of university and moving, I recently almost lost my mother due to cancer and have been by her side for a while now.  Hopefully I am back up and running during the winter. Introducing Ghost operative: Egor

My project is finally done and it has taken forever! I never usually feel this way but I do feel a bit proud. It came out close to what I was expecting. While talking too @missvorona and @vodka-and-kalashnikovs, this concept came up. Slon Vorona and I were theorising. We came up with the idea that if a revolution began, that the assassins would eventually be dragged in and put into the Black Ops sector (or any ranking equivalent). Theory is that Slon would be a highly elite soldier, Vorona a valued sniper, and Egor would be a Ghost operative of sorts.

The gif took forever to make due to the amount of details and change but I am not feeling too bad about this. Hard work paid off. Thanks for the follows and support all of you!

The Russians and homosexuality

I feel like I’m going to be attacked because of this, but I also feel it needs to be said.

In Russia, homosexuality is heavily frowned upon. To a point that two people of the same sex may get attacked for simply holding hands, not to mention anything that may further imply a relationship. Slavic countries are extremely homophobic. 

In order to maintain consistency with real life, the Russians in Durarara would not take kindly to any form of homosexuality. As far as I’m aware it’s not accepted that widely in Japan as it would seem either, but in Russia it is far, far worse. Homosexuals are killed in Russia purely because of their orientation. 

I am in no way trying to attack anyone. I am simply staying consistent with real life - I have a huge preference for realistic details in my portrayal of characters, as well as others’ portrayals. 

Therefore, Slon as an example, is homophobic. It’s what he was brought up with. He is from a country where homosexuality is deemed “wrong”. Where it is socially accepted to beat up someone who shows homosexual tendencies. His views are not my views, but I choose to include this detail as yet another step to make him more “believable” as a character. I also automatically assume the other Russians will not approve of homosexual behaviour either, simply because of their upbringing. 

I believe that a few undesired traits are better than a perfect character who defies realism, or whose personality is altered purely because someone demands it be different.

This is not mentioned enough in a lot of posts I think because people are afraid to touch upon it. People will read it incorrectly or just plain not understand. The Russians are great characters in Durarara. Realistic portrayal of characters shows a respect for the original artist. You do not have to approve of everything a character does. Lets be practical here for a second and give an example. The Russians are mercenaries. RUSSIAN. MERCENARIES. They are awesome characters within the series yes, but true to form, they do indeed have a very sinister and evil job. They are literally being paid to spill blood. We can still love them as characters and not support everything that they do. Once again to reinforce the point, you can have fun with the characters still while not enjoying every aspect about them. That is what makes them so diverse and amazing is that these people are not the ideal characters and they have major flaws within their own personal spectrum.

Also, remember this as a universal concept for all characters. These ARE just made up people and even though these traits might be likened to the individuals, the muns do not have to agree with every quality of the person. Realistically portraying a character does not mean you can talk or treat a mun badly. We all as roleplay and ask blogs need to be a community and support each other even if we have characters with traits that are looked down upon.
