Long Time No Speak!

Hey everyone, yeah I’m not really sure how many of my followers are still around/active, but I figure’d it was about time I posted something here. Yeah, it’s pretty damn late but what the heck.

Last time I said anything here was two and a half years ago, saying that PMD Spectrum was just on hiatus and I was focusing on Forest Oddities. Well... it’s been almost exactly two years since I posted there. Yeah, kinda short lived. But I figure’d it was a good idea to show I’m not dead and what’s going on.

First, PMD Spectrum and Forest Oddities will not be returning. 

I’m sorry to those who enjoyed these blogs and characters. I still love them, and maybe *MAYBE* someday I’ll reuse some of them. I’ve seen some cool PMD groups showing up on DA once in a while and I’ve considered joining them but at this point I don’t really have the time. I just really don’t have the time or energy to focus on an ask blog with fan characters.

Second, the blogs will remain as a personal archive of past activities.

What I mean by this is, the blogs will not be active, but will not be deleted. I’ve always had this bit of sadness when a blog I like closes then the owner deletes it. Even if it’s slow/dead, I enjoy looking at previous content! It’s fun to see the characters and art. I know that’s their choice, but for PMD Spectrum and Forest Oddities this is my decision. All posts will remain. Just don’t expect any new content.

Third, I’m not active here but I am active in other places!

This is really the reason I wanted to make this post. Maybe some of you already know this, but I feel it’d be good to give some more details on where you can find me and what I’ve been up to.

You can find me on Deviantart, Twitter, Twitch, my personal Tumblr, Redbubble, and I even have a Toyhouse account now! I still do a lot of art, and it can be found at most of these locations. As for what I’m drawing...

Three years ago my friends and I started playing tabletop games, and it’s just kinda... exploded from there. We stream our games multiple times a week live on twitch, post all our sessions onto youtube, and are just really trying to build a community together. It’s actually run by my amazing girlfriend @mystarseed and if you’re interested I highly recommend checking us out!

Currently we have two games going on weekly- - A 4E game, and the one that actually started this obsession - A 5E homebrew game that’s based off the Legend of Zelda

We’ve also run a Star Wars Saga Edition game that we finished a whole story arc of, and we play a TON of one shots of different systems with a range of DMs and themes. Besides that we once in a while do charity streams for different causes. Our next one is actually this Monday (Oct 8th) and after that we’ll be participating in Extra Life on November 3-4!

Seriously, thank you everyone. I had so much support and positivity from people in this community, and it helped me grow as an artist over the years. To this day, while I’m not active contributing, I still love seeing what other people create with their own ask blogs! It’s been a lot of fun, and thank you. I hope some of you decide to at least check out the other content I create and contribute in, and for those who don’t, thank you for everything up to this point. I’ll leave my asks open for the time being in case anyone wants to say/ask anything to me personally for a while. But I think I’ll end this by showing off a couple art pieces of characters I play over on Midgardia.

Happy 10-year anniversary to PMD-E! This project was a labor of love created by many members of the PMD-E community to celebrate the special memories we made together in the group all those years ago. This reunion video is all about reconnecting with old friends and seeing how far our characters have come. Thank you to everyone who participated, and an extra thank-you to the background artists, editors and our resident musician for dedicating your skills to this project. It wouldn’t have turned out so special without your hard work. This project is just a celebratory fan-work and has no relation to any official PMD-E content. Well, that was unexpected, and enough to make me wanna doodle a Spike one last time. XP So yes, thanks, and Spike is pretty high up on characters I’d enjoy reusing someday possible. I love this guy a lot. ^^

Such a promise is incredibly hard to hold, and like you said at the first sign of haitius most blogs just delete themselves while on the other hand you said you will keep this blog here, I'm great ful to you for doing this as it let's many of your fans reminisce in your blogs characters and who you are as a person as your characters may be a reflection of yourself or those around you. I hope this winter goes well and I can't wait to hear more about your youtube gaming if links are available

Yeah, I had originally hoped that the hiatus would just be to focus on the newer ask blog, but my attention and energy had already started lessening with ask blogs back then. I guess part of me had hoped that a change of characters and story would have restarted the energy I had previously, but it was pretty short lived.

Thank you, I’m hoping winter goes well too. As for the games and their links, they all should be working in the post I made? I tried to make sure everything had the proper links to locations. Was there one that didn't work properly for you??

PMD Spectrum is on Hiatus!

As you already might have guessed with the lack of updates, this blog will be on hiatus for the moment. With the speed of new content PMD-U has been going, I've lost some motivation for this blog. Considering I've been running it for a few years now, I guess a break was needed.

Let me emphasize first, THIS BLOG IS NOT ENDING. Please keep that in mind. I simply need a break and once the story starts moving again in the group I'm sure my inspiration will come back. I have deleted all but a couple asks from the inbox, there were a couple I still want to answer but most have been sitting in there for a LONG time because I didn't know how or didn’t want to, answer them.

The inbox will remain open if you want to message me, and I will still be lurking a lot since I follow so many people and I enjoy their content. Once I return full force here, I will make an announcement and also request new asks to hopefully help spark more creativity in me.

This doesn't mean I'm disappearing from ask blogs. As you might have seen in my previous post a month back, I've started a new blog outside the PMD universe with new characters. Right now I'm really enjoying working on it, and with a smaller cast of characters I feel less overwhelmed. If you want to continue seeing my work, I'd recommend checking out Ask Forest Oddities. While It's only been open for a little over a month, I've tried to keep a consistent flow of content.

Again, this is no where near the end for these characters, but after years of just working on this blog, a change of pace and characters for a while is simply needed. I promise I'll be back on here at a later time!

Cyrus is a cuddle lover. Most days he’s love nothing more to lay on the grass in the sun with Zander and Faris close by.

Zander is a people watcher. He’s been known to find a comfortable place in a crowded area and sit back for hours and just watch and listen. He tends to remember everything he’s seen or heard so back home he’d reached a point where he could name every mon who lived there, even if he’d never spoken to them.

Faris has a secret love of pulling pranks. This was learned to counter his older twin brothers who teased him regularly, in return he’d secretly pull a lot of pranks on who ever had annoyed him most during the week.

Rikuto was always kept out of the public eye when he was back home, thanks to that the only friend he had was Connor’s daughter Sasha. He misses her just as much as his parents, but rather then him going back he wants Sasha to come where he is and see all the interesting things he’s seen.

When they first met, Noah developed a bit of a crush on Amber. The closer they became as friends the more that crush faded. At this point, he has no interest in anything romantic with her. But he still cares deeply for her.

Amber has noticeable gaps in her memory from when she was younger. She’s well aware of this but given her family life she has no want to remember those gaps. Unfortunately some things can trigger them without her say.

In combat, Spike is someone who has always valued accuracy and efficiency over power. It’s why out of his move pool, his favored abilities are swift and aerial ace, coupled with sandstorm to provide useful cover. He tends to frown on those who rely on brute force to get their way, seeing it as unintelligent and risky.

Zander cannot retract his feelers fully like normal Sylveons, so when he first evolved he would often awkwardly trip over them or get them caught on things. It’s why his chest ones now wrap around his back and his head ones wrap around his head.

While he has a tense relationship with his two brothers, Rikuto has a surprisingly loving relationship with both of his parents. 

Faris’s ‘favorite’ sibling is actually his little brother, Naji. This might just be because he finally has a sibling who doesn’t constantly tease and bug him though.

Cyrus didn’t come from a warrior family, which means he has an extra reason to prove himself as a guardian. His improved social standing would help his family’s standing.

Thanks to her species’s low female birth rate and the fact children 99% of the time are the same species as the mother, Aimi was and still is betrothed in an attempt to continue her familys bloodline.

Back at home, Connor was one of only a small handful of mons with a high social standing that were net fire or psychic types in the valley’s history.

Izzak’s feelings for Amber have never faded, and he has been attempting to become a better person in hope of at least getting back in her life.

“Connor?” Braith repeated, “alright, cool!! Nice to meet you!”

He smiled broadly at the Furfrou, placing on hand on his hip, “well… hmm…” his eyes swirled with shifting colors for a moment, then he frowned deeply, and looked down at the Furfrou once again, “say, what’s the best thing I could do if any of them get into a fight? I mean, yeah, they’re small, but if they start teething and biting each other, is that something I need to be worried about? Especially if they get aggressive about it, like they’re trying to hurt each other?”

Connor hummed softly, thinking for a moment. "Well, yes you will get some fights when they start getting more active. And while this might sound harsh, some fights you'll have to actually let them settle it themselves. Especially with so many, the kits will start trying to find where they each stand within the pack, so there will be nipping, biting, scratching, hissing, barking, all of it. And you have to let some of it happen. They need to learn socializing as young as possible, and this is how. You'll have to be able to read them, tell when you stand back and let the conflict settle between them, and when to step in as the parent. Pretty much, let the first couple nips happen, let the one bit react if it hurts, either by biting back to show it wasn't okay or yelping and moving away from the conflict. If after a short scuffle they go their separate ways, that's a natural healthy interaction. If the aggressive one continues even after it's recognized it's hurting, that's when you step in."

The furfrou chuckled softly to himself, shaking his head before continuing. "If you know how to scruff a kit safely, I would recommend that for poor behavior. Not only will it teach them that what they did was wrong, but also show that you're the one in charge. It'll get them under control quickly without much issue, and allow the other to run to where it feels safe. Scruffing will help the kit calm down, and after they're okay you can pet them and help them calm more. You can also then offer them a toy or something to chew on after, in case they have any left over aggression, they're shown what’s okay to bite at instead of another kit."
