what part of poland are you from?

As per usual, I'll try to give some context.

In Poland we often call Warsaw "the default city" because people usually just... assume it as the default. Someone posts about something in a city without mentioning which city? You can be sure they meant Warsaw and just didn't comprehend that other cities really exist. It's a state of mind lmao

Wilbur, as a guy from Warsaw, probably would be one of the people but I wanted to add this little thing, just for fun.

"Wypizdowo Górne" is a made up name that's supposed to be some smaller town around Warsaw, and it would translate to something like "Upper Nowhere" but make it... even more derogatory lmao.

what's the best music genre and why is it Polish rock

I can finally officially share my playlist, it's just a bunch of good polish rock(-ish?) music.

I'd really recommend giving it a go, since Poland has had (and still has tbh) a really good punk scene, with some real bangers. I'd say our punk music was on the level of British punk, maybe even slightly better since we've experienced... a bit more oppression, had a little bit more anger in us lol (they are the pioneers tho, can't deny that).

I also added Dawid Podsiadło, that's the albums Tomek is holding. It's more light rock, and it's quite popular/mainstream, which would definitely make Wilbur deny listening to it (he's an avid fan)

The guy is like, ultra conservative, and the leader of the ruling party (which is incredibly shit for Poland). But it's incredibly ironic that his last name is Kaczyński, so Quackity now gets that name as well.

Maria Skłodowska Curie was a polish scientist, one of polish Nobel prize winners. She MARRIED a French guy, but she was pretty damn patriotic as a pole, and kept her polish maiden name, which was pretty badass and feminist for the time. She had to leave Poland because of the political situation, but she was not French, and we do get quite pissed off when people forget about it, and she’d get pissed off as well.

PiS (Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc meaning Law and Justice) is a political party that was ruling Poland for the past few years and long story short most of the country hates them. At least the younger part. They fucked up our international relationships, economy, and are really conservative. ***** *** is a „meme” „censorship” of words “jebać pis” which means “fuck pis”

And Quackity here known as Kaczyński (which is btw the last name of the leader of pis, unrelated in this au tho) has no clue what the fuck Wilbur is on about, bro was just standing nearby and suddenly this hobo is pointing at him.

Context:

After WWII, Poland was for a while under communist regime. Not exactly a part of USSR, but heavily influenced.

So, as one might assume, the quality of life was… tragic. There was barely any products in shops, and you had to wait for hours in lines to even get your assigned bread. Oranges were a specialty for the lucky ones. Also, very, very corrupt government.

Pewex was an international store in Poland, where you could get things from other countries. At that time, luxuries. You could only shop there in dollars, so only people with friends/family abroad could even try to afford it. Having something from there was a sign of status.

What’s important here, is that the askblog is placed in current times. Which is nothing like that anymore. I’m pretty sure Pewex doesn’t even exist anymore.

Phil/Filip probably got it during the communist time and then it was actually valuable, and Wilbur got it now, it’s old and ugly, but he won’t admit it. He has some sort of superiority complex.
