Here is an interesting topic that I don’t typically explore- berries. My assistant has been... very intrigued over how berries impact Pokémon, and I figured I should put some of my conclusions on the topic here, just so it can be concluded for future reference.
Berries that impact a Pokémon’s status are typically quite helpful- as not only will Pokémon be more likely to eat them on their own if they have been inflicted with the status condition, but they’re also as helpful as normal items of the same type, such as antidotes and awakenings.
If you’re curious, typically those items are developed for more industrial areas where berries are less likely to grow. But they are still popular even in smaller towns, as it’s something you can stock up on quickly in the moment, as opposed to waiting for the berries to sprout in the correct weather. Status healing items are most popular during the wintertime, where berries are less likely to sprout.
However, the only downside is the waste of a turn in battle- and out of battle, unless you’re specifically buying seeds or the berries on their own, you do in fact have to pay for potions and other healing items. That’s why it’s always good to stock up. Plus, some healing items such as Full Heals and Full Restores can heal several conditions at once, such as poison and confusion. Luckily, no two major conditions can affect a Pokémon at the same time. But confusion can affect a Pokémon no matter what they’re already dealing with.
In conclusion, pick items and berries wisely. It’s good to have both if you’re a trainer, but if you specifically choose to live with only one or two Pokémon in a normal day to day circumstance- it can be much more helpful to simply grow a small berry garden or something of the sort.
Although, doing that can attract other Pokémon to your backyard, and that can be equally unpleasant. Simply enough, pick your battles wisely, and stock up however you feel would be best for your personal situation.
Thank you for reading, I’m still setting up the camera system, my assistant has been busy. She knows about this better than I do, unfortunately.
