OOC Intro Post: Welcome To The Marvel Brendleverse!
Heya, I'm Brendle, and this is an ask blog for the Peter Parker of my Marvel AU, which I'm tentatively calling the Marvel Brendleverse.
Peter Parker (aka Lore), better known as Spider-Man in his home dimension of Earth-10253, is an absolute nerd and aspiring writer who was raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben in Queens, New York. At fifteen years old, during a field trip to Oscorp Laboratories, he was bitten by a radioactive spider that was imbued with the power of creation, and in the subsequent days, began to exhibit strange spider-like abilities. After the extremely preventable death of his Uncle Ben and an attack on his school by one of his classmates that built herself four mechanical tentacle appendages, Peter suited up as Spider-Man and began to fight crime in his local neighborhood, joining an ever-increasing number of "superheroes". It's your classic Spider-Man story. It's the world in which he lives in where things get a little interesting
Remember when I said that the spider that bit Peter was "imbued with the power of creation?" This power is called Echoes, which is essentially this plane of existence that permeates all of reality. It's essentially this pure concentrated source of creative energy left behind by a being called The Writer that pretty much anyone has the potential to tap into, albeit in different ways depending on the universe. And the Marvel Brendleverse does it through Masks.
When creating a Mask (which is something that many attempt but few actually achieve), someone can imbue it with the powers that they desire, and when wearing said Mask they are granted said powers. Costumes aren’t part of it, people just wear them to match the aesthetics of their mask. Masks are bound to a person - one person cannot normally be the bearer of multiple masks. A Mask that originally belongs to you can be summoned and dismissed, no one else can take it (except maybe borrowing with permission), but once a superhero dies their Mask cracks. A cracked Mask is not summoned or dismissed, anyone without a Mask bound to them can attune to it to use it, though it may have drawbacks that it did not originally have.
A lot of the other superheroes have new origins based on this new magic system that permeates this AU, and I'm excited to get into it! I hope y'all are excited too :)
