Vermont misses his mom very much and after she died he stopped referring to New York as his dad. It's kind of affected their relationship. That's why he denies that New York is his biological father or father in general.
He does love his dad but he misses his mama.He knows he should talk about this but he's a Northeast state and just like his dad he doesn't do emotions.
