(A.K.A why we say “we”)

Hi! We’re the AOTF system, and you can use they/them pronouns for us as a whole! To explain what a system is, we’re quoting this handbook explaining the subject, which is a good reference in general if you’re confused.

“Plurality (also known as multiplicity) is the state of having more than one person/consciousness sharing a body. Together, the people who share a body make up a plural system or multiple system, often referred to simply as a system. The size and nature of a system varies greatly, with system size varying from two to well over 100. Some systems are highly co-conscious and as a result have very strong continuity of memory while others have more strongly partitioned memory and often lose time and access to certain skills (ie. ability to code) when they switch to a different headmate/systemmate/insider. The headmate who is currently controlling the body is said to be at front.”

We’re also pulling a definition for a specific type of headmate, called a “fictive”, we have a lot of from this glossary, since it’s important to understanding who the people who want to interact with this fandom are.

“A system member who arrives in the system with the form, personality, and possibly psychological backstory--e.g. memories--of a fictional character, often characters created by people outside of the system.”

Okay now that we’ve gotten all that jargon out of the way, here’s introductions for everyone planning on using this blog! If a specific person is making a post, they’ll sign off with their name in the tags.

Ralph: he/him, fictive of Ralph from Lord of the Flies, planning on using this blog the most because he really wants to try engaging with the fandom again, might make his own sideblog eventually

Jack: he/him, fictive of Jack from Lord of the Flies, is using this blog for fandom stuff because, while he does have a personal sideblog, it is ✨venty✨

Piggy: he/him, fictive of Piggy from Lord of the Flies, isn’t planning on getting a sideblog

Liu: she/they, this was originally their blog but then everyone else took it over and she’s okay with that

Colton: he/him, might use this might not

i see people "complain" (i guess it's more of a meme at this point) that the villagers don't do anything on the island, like they don't help out with any island chores or whatever and it's the resident rep who does (and pays) for everything and all the villagers do is sweep grass and sit around

but how many people would actually like it if the villagers could place furniture anywhere on the island? what if they had their own yard space outside their house that they could decorate however they want and you couldn't do anything about it? what if they could start and fund their own incline or bridge projects without asking you where to put them? wouldn't that be lovely? they'd be contributing to the island!! which they aren't doing now

and medications have none of the same requirements to label allergens as foods, and supplements don't even need to be truthful about their content. im currently having to go through and throw out/replace my medications bc I recently had an allergy escalate to "potentially deadly" and am now finding that process was helped by the fucking thing being hidden in half my fucking medications

so yeah for anyone with moderate to severe allergies, check ALL the meds you take, especially if you're reacting and don't know why.

Jewish law holds that life begins at first breath. A fetus is, therefore, not truly alive until birth. The life of the parent always takes precedence, because the parent is fully alive.

By all means, rail against the injustice of abortion restrictions designed to control people, intended to force people to remain pregnant against their will.

But when you're placing blame, put it where it belongs.

I don't care if your religion doesn't ban abortion if religions are a worldwide driving cause for the banning of religion. This is Sealioning at it's finest. Evangelical christianity, and lets be real, all other sects of christianity, are still religions, whether you like it or not.

Sealioning, much like gaslighting, is a term that means something specific. It is not a catch-all for "I disagree, so you must be engaging in bad faith."

Right, maybe I used the wrong term. But your point is functionally the same as men crying "not all men" when someone names men as the problem. Like, fucking great *your* religion doesn't try to stop women from getting an abortion, but that doesn't mean *religions* don't. Oppression of women in America has a very marked religious tone, where religion is used to perpetuate and conserve patriarchal systems by codifying them into the sacred. You crying that Jews dont want to stop women from accessing abortion services helps absolutely nobody but your feeling of superiority because *your* religion is not one of *them*.

Men saying "not all men" are denying that they benefit from the systemic privilege and violence of patriarchy.

Jews and other religious minorities saying "hey, leave us out of this" are not doing anything of the sort. Religious minorities in America do not have structural power, especially when compared to xtianity.

Also, Jewish women exist. Religious Jewish women who need abortions and can’t get them because evangelical conservatives have decided that their religion should be held in such higher value that laws should be based off of it, even if religious minorities exist in the country too. We need space for Jewish women, and all other Jews who might need abortions, to fight for their reproductive rights without having to deal with people broadly blaming “religion” for their oppression. So I’d say posts like this help plenty of people, actually.
