Shane: Rrrrrrrr!

YOU THOUGHT IT WAS FALSPAR BUT...
Shane: Been having some strange dreams lately. Maybe I should get some fresh air.Â
Whats goin on.
((Alright. Its been really REALLY quiet in my ask box, so I decided to clarify some things that are going on with Shane and hopefully that’ll get people questioning.
So far, Shane has come back from a trip to Halcandra with Taavi and Nura. He received an implant of sorts to gain more control of his demonic powers. For now he is living in the starship Cornucopia(home of Taavi and Nura) and is trying to integrate into life in Paprika village. He is also looking for a place to make his own home.
That’s the jist of everything that has happened. So feel free to ask Shane anything))
New Beginnings: RP with AskStarshipVagabonds
A quiet purr was audible as he continued to bathe Taavi and receive grooming and pettings back. He occasionally rubbed against both of them as natural reflex to being petted and wanting more pets.Â
This cycle would go on for at least 10 more minutes. After that, Shane felt relaxed enough that he shrank down to normal. Though with reverting, comes some consequences.Â
He was forced to let go of Taavi to cover his mouth and cough out a copious amount of excess black blood, but did his best to hide it from the two by turning towards the dumpster. Other side effects included exhaustion, soreness and now was absolutely starving.Â
His stomach churned and growled for food. He gripped the closest of his friends by the sides and looked at them with a desperate expression. “I’m starving! I need food! Now!” He demanded as he shook them a bit.
He might of also needed a wet towel. He was sort of a mess from his bloody coughing fit.
Dark blood flecks Taavi as Shane clings to him, shaking his body. It’s a little freakish, but it’s not the first time Taavi has seen Shane bleed like this before. He merely hugs Shane, not caring too much about the resulting mess. Nura steps forward as well, gingerly avoiding any puddles of mess before pushing Shane’s sandwich into his hands. It’s still a little warm despite everything, and smells delicious… “Here, eat up. Perhaps you’ll feel better…”
Shane hissed in delight as he stared wide eyed at the meaty concoction between two thick pieces of fresh bread that rested in his…rather dirty hands. But that didn’t stop him from gorging himself until there was nothing but sauce and sweet meaty juices on his hands and face, in which he proceeded to lick clean.Â
He was much happier now, but was still hungry. “That was amazing! I haven’t had anything this good since Halcandra! I want more!”
“We’d have to go back to the kiosks to get you more,” Nura explains gently. “Do you feel like getting up, or are you tired?”
“I could go get him some~” Taavi volunteers, rocking back on his feet. “Though, hee, I wouldn’t get too much or you won’t have any appetite later!” That’s kind of a lie. When would Shane not have an appetite? Still, it’s more to encourage the puff to be a little less frantic with food than anything else.
“The townspeople will get used to you if they see you more frequently… I don’t think it would be a bad idea to come down here more often,” Nura explains to the puffball. “Outings like this can be a way to acclimatize.”
Shane groaned and glanced over to the street. Sneering at the sight of the many people that still roamed the streets. He already felt like he made a fool of himself today. He didn’t feel like going back out there to make even more of a fool of himself. “I’m not going back out there. Not today.” He grumbled as he crossed his arms and stared at the ground.
“Well, you can’t get another sandwich if you don’t accompany Taavi,” Nura says, a little more forcefully. “If you do, we’ll be sure to buy you the biggest sandwich on the menu…”
Yeah, she’s bribing him, but… he needs some bribery, honestly.
“Hey, Shane~ I promise people won’t be mean! Besides, how’re you gonna get out of there otherwise?” Taavi asks, pawing at the giant brown puffball’s side. He should stop being a baby and go with him.
“But you just said I shouldn't be eating much now or else I wouldn't have an appetite. Even though I’m almost always hungry.” He mumbled that last sentence. He did want some more meaty goodness. That sandwich, though he ate it quickly, he could still taste the lovely blend of meats in his mouth. “And also I’m still dirty! Look!” He held out his stained hands. “No way I can go out like this!”

He calms down, only giggling and squirming occasionally, and coos in response. In fact… eventually he starts to groom Shane in return, preen oil pressed from his cheek glands onto the brown demon’s skin before he massages it in with his nubs.
Nura wanders a little closer. She’s used to scenes like this by now, the strange juxtaposition of the giant, feral Shane and the tiny, soft Taavi. It has a bizarre charm to it, and she finds herself smiling a little.
“Until then, we’ll support you…” she says quietly, running a gloved hand through the wispy flame-hair. It’s silky in a way no natural hair would ever be, and she enjoys its ethereal touch against her.

His initial reluctance melts away like it was never there. The Cupie dashes the short distance left up to Shane and clings to the giant brown form like a teddy bear. “Shane… I’m sorry…” he murmurs, his voice quiet and sad. “That person was so mean, and… he just doesn’t understand you~ he doesn’t see that you’re trying…”
“There will be a lot of people like that.” Nura steps up behind Taavi, from the shadows in the alley. “And you will need to learn to deal with them.” Her expression softens, partially sadness and partially endearment. “You’re not much different from any other person in the world, Shane… just someone trying to get along in life…
… They’ll learn that, someday.”
Shane could only grumble in a feral manner, since he could hardly speak in this form and hold his cupie friend closely in his arms in response. He was still quite discouraged and just needed to receive comfort from his friends.Â
With Taavi in his arms, he thought it would help his nerves to distract himself and “bathe” him. This was also one way he liked to show people that he trusted and liked them.

“… Shane?” Taavi hops forward cautiously, clearly shocked by Shane’s transformation. It was completely unexpected, and although it doesn’t seem to have been painful, it’s the same warped visage he remembers so well. “Are… are you okay?”
Some part of the Cupie is still poised to flee. If what they worked towards getting for Shane hasn’t completely worked… Nura hovers some distance away, ready to protect Taavi if she must but otherwise cautiously optimistic. Shane still seems lucid and sane, so she’s not too worried about him attacking…
He flexed his clawed hands before he curled back up into a ball and let out a long winded, sad sounding grumble. Well. Doubt he was going anywhere anytime soon, as not to scare the townsfolk and ruin his reputation even more.
He glanced at the two who stared at him cautiously. It was clear by now that Shane was still sane and harmless. For the most part.

Shane’s demonic flames flicker, and Taavi flinches slightly, memories of his former attitude making the Cupie fearful despite himself. But he approaches anyway, stepping closer to the giant form hiding behind the garbage.
There was no response from Shane except for him tensing up and…getting bigger? And bigger and bigger still until he had fully transformed into his demon form. This form easily took up most of the width of the alleyway.
Shane’s eyes opened up in shock along with a frightened hiss as he jumped up, but clumsily stumbled onto his stomach. This was as much of a surprise to him as it was for Taavi and Nura. He hardly felt the transformation happen. He stared at his hands and wondered how this happened, and why now of all times?

“Shane!” Taavi flinches, practically bowled over by Shane’s abrupt fleeing, and promptly turns on his heels after him. Before Nura can stop him, he’s already sprinting off after Shane - too slow to catch up immediately, but fast enough that he’s already on Shane’s tail, so to speak.
“… My apologies,” Nura says quickly to the others, before hurrying after Shane herself. Internally, she’s torn - Shane will have to deal with a lot of this, he can’t just run away! … But it must have hurt so badly to hear it after so long, about something he couldn’t control. “Shane, where are you?” Taavi shouts, not entirely expecting an answer. He stops dead in the middle of an alleyway, panting, his eyepiece glowing. He scans the darkness for the familiar silhouette of the feral Shane, or the glow of his eyes…
He wouldn’t be very hard to find. The alley only really had one place for him to hide and it was behind a dumpster. That firey hair of flickered out of his hiding spot, revealing him easily.
He was curled up in a shakey ball facing the wall. His whole back covered in the not-fire.Â

The Waddle Dee child gives Shane a shaky, but genuine, smile before toddling closer again. She stops right in front of Shane, close enough to touch - before her father pulls her back.
“Just because he can be around you doesn’t mean I trust him to touch you.” The Dee glares up at Shane. “Don’t think that we forget what you did to the hospital…” “Hey!” Taavi says loudly, frowning. “That was an accident!” But the damage is done, and the little girl shrinks back a little, expression confused and uncertain.
“B-but that!…that..was….ergg..” He couldn’t take this kind of judgement anymore. He gripped his arms and looked away again. He was clearly trembling and his hair burst into something that looked like black fire, but did not burn. But before anyone could do or say anything, he abruptly leapt off into a nearby alley.
