But Sonic have you considered
It was hard to say when the duo had dozed off, but it was hard not to among the little comfort they were able to set up. Shadow had his face buried in the crook of Sonic's neck, laying halfway on the other like a blanket. One of Sonic's arms was wrapped around Shadow's waist, the other one having found the edge of their blanket nest.
It was even harder to say how long they had been sleeping. Sonic would be the first one to start waking, though his smallest shift elicited annoyed squeaks from Shadow.
Sonic's ear flicked as he heard them, before remembering their confession. His cheeks turned red, his ears feeling ready to set on fire as he carefully looked at the black and red hedgehog currently clung to him.
But even so, the sight caused Sonic to purr. A smile came to him as he felt tears well up in his eyes, his chest jumping in silent joy. His hand that was not already clung to Shadow came up to the other's quills, starting to stroke through them slowly.
He felt Shadow huff against his body, followed by purrs as Shadow relaxed further.
Unfortunately for Sonic, Shadow had found a sensitive spot. Sonic bit his lip as he tried hard not to laugh from the sensation of Shadow's purrs against him.
Even as Sonic tried to vocally stifle his laughter, it did little to stop his chest from beginning to move with the motions. The change was enough to stir Shadow, who grunted and nuzzled into Sonic's neck as his ears fell against his head.
Sonic ended up caught in a mixture of laughter and purring, which was enough to get Shadow to lift his head and glare at the hedgehog. He did not appreciate being woken, but one look at the laughing hedgehog made Shadow's annoyance mostly melt.
"You're loud," Shadow grumbled, shifting and resting his head on Sonic's chest instead.
Sonic - now freed from his laughing - was able to catch his breath. He went back to running his fingers through Shadow's quills. "You're the one who started it," he mumbled.
One dark ear poked up. "How?" There was a slight growl, a challenge.
"....No reason!" Sonic blushed, before pecking Shadow's head and starting to lick the perked ear. Maybe he shouldn't let Shadow know he was ticklish.
Shadow huffed in annoyance, but didn't make any motions to get up. Even if his ear started smacking Sonic's face as the other tried to groom it.
"Can you hold your ear still?" Sonic teased as it thwacked him again.
"I'm not doing it on purpose." Shadow did finally move, though, sitting up next to Sonic.
Sonic pouted as the other pulled away from him, before hopping out of the nest and stretching.
Shadow set about putting everything away, giving Sonic a chance to look at the ring. He laughed, looking back at Shadow. "I have considered."
