For Februaroc day 1

That was the day Ana decided to become a psychiatrist. When the phone rang with the hospital's number, and it wasn't her brother calling to wish her a good day.

"Anastasia?"

"Hi!" The voice pn the phone was familiar. Maggie, who had helped Ana with her biology homework and brought her a blanket when she was fourteen and falling in the doctors lounge, waiting for her brothers shift to end so they could go home.

"Ana, we need you to come down here."

"Why?"

"I can't tell you until you get here."

The day Ana decided to become a psychiatrist, Maggie brought her a blanket as she fell asleep crying in the doctors lounge. The day her brother died.

The day Sammy came home to an empty house was the day she came home covered in blood. The silence was almost deafening, and everything was too still. She had never known the house without Shaun in it, and even turning on the fans and a radio couldn't fill the emptiness. The whole time she stood in the shower, scraping her fiance's dried blood from her skin, she still felt empty. Maybe that's why Sammy couldn't cry. Or maybe it was simply because she wasn't alive. The energy from the hospital echoed in Sammy's brain. She had been there for two days, watching as Shaun slept. Dr. Strickland was worried that he may not wake up. Just an hour before, when they could finally assure Sammy of Shauns survival, she allowed herself to go home. She smelled like the dirt, blood, and sweat she was covered in. The shower was much needed, and by the time Sammy stepped out of the water that had long since turned cold, she didn't feel as numb. She left the house to return to Romans bedside feeling almost human and less like the ghost she had been when she came in.
