Ebenholz, do you take any medicines or do anything to treat your headaches and migraines? They're not caused by oripathy, right? I don't want any of your health issues to fall to the wayside just because of Rhodes Island's focus. I've heard some odd rumors that it's some kind of witchcraft curse giving you headaches, but even if it really is something like that, I hope there's still something that can make you feel better. - Headache Commiserater

E: My, but the rumor mill has been busy. Witchcraft curse? Utter blödsinn...

E: I have had headaches near my entire life, even when I do not exacerbate them with my Arts. I have been trying an assortment of treatments since joining Rhodes Island, from medicine to home remedies like ginger ale.

E: Having a partner willing to massage my head and neck has also helped quite a bit... ;)

Hello, I hope you are both feeling on the better side today, health-wise. Do you have any favorite songs to listen to? To play? Together or separate? I just wonder where music overlaps for you, and where you have different preferences. Hoping for your health, anon

E: We've both been well recently, danke. Helps when someone remembers to take his medicine when he's supposed to.

C: Helps when someone reminds me. As for music, while we have both been branching out since coming to Rhodes Island, we still make time to return to our roots, trying new compositions and practicing old ones together. Especially as Ebenholz is still adjusting to the cello.

E: There is a Rondo for Piano and Cello we have been working on together, penned by an Ursan composer. It has actually been a rather fun piece, I must admit!

C: As I told you, every time you complained about it when first we practiced it. But you always come around eventually.

yo thoughts on Alive Until Sunsets music?

E: I am quite a fan! It took me some time to appreciate music like theirs, but the lyrics spoke to me.

C: A wonder you can hear them over all that noise.

E: Ahem. Czerny might not appreciate them as much, but I have other friends who I listen to AUS and other such bands. Vigna and Elysium even helped me acquire this record!

E: ...Also a hoodie, but they got it a size or two too large, and now SOMEONE keeps stealing it from me.

C: (...it is soft and smells nice...)

For Czerny: do you have any audition excerpts you frequently used that you had to stop using because auditioning musicians would focus too much on your usual audition excerpts and neglect fundamentals or sight reading?

C: I would hardly say I have explicitly banned any particular songs...but there are admittedly a few that have been overused of late. Most notably excerpts from a recent Columbian suite, "Appalachian Spring". I had been fond of it at first, but it seems everyone picked up on that and played it nonstop for auditions.

C: Also, the next time I oversee an orchestra...if any trombinists dare play "Bluebells of Tara" at me, I am shoving their trombone down their throat until it comes out their ass.

E: (Czerny, are you allowed to make threats like that...?)

what do the both of you think of the twin empresses?

E: Depends. Are these answers being recorded? If so, then I am so ceaselessly thankful for the grace and kindness they extend toward us Leithaniens, all of us equal in their eyes.

C: Your sarcasm is so thick, most would find it more of an insult than the truth, liebechen.

E: Then if I am allowed to be honest...while I nowadays better understand where they are coming from, the reasons they have for their decisions and actions, I am still not fond of them. I would rather not go into my laundry list of grievances; it is well over a decade in the making.

C: I will say to their credit that their reign is better than that of their predecessor. But it is also heavily reactive to that reign. The Empresses do all they can to paint Leithanien in the gilded light of a united front with nary a shadow of the Witch King. But there are times when so much energy is poured into that front, there is neither focus to find nor strength left to face the darkness building behind the scenes.

E: Negligance that allows for corrupt nobles and echoes of the Wich King to gather in the shadows.

C: Danke schön, Doctor! I shall set them up and test them right away. Even if they aren't quite what I am used to working with, these will suffice for teaching the children aboard the landship.

How did you two meet?

E: Friends? You must be new around here...

C: We are partners in many ways, including in music, combat, and romance. Certainly a surprise, considering how we first met. Ebenholz had auditioned for a concert of mine, and we had...disagreements as to the quality of his performance and skill.

E: Don't remind me. Yet even though that is the first time we met in person...

E: I had been listening to Czerny's music for a few years already. His music inspired me to take the flute seriously, after all. His records were also some of the few I had. I spent many nights listening to him perform as I looked out at the world below. It made me feel far less alone.

E: Guten Tag, all. This is Operator Ebenholz reporting in, joined by Operator Czerny. Seeing as the Doctor and a host of others have opened up "ask blogs" here for communication, I thought it best that we do the same.

C: And we need this "ask blog" at all because...?

E: Would you rather we keep being interrupted by inane questions during practice? Or worse yet, find any more letters shoved under our door?

C: Nein. Much as I miss having a real mailbox, I suppose this is more prudent...please direct any missives, requests, or other communications here. We shall answer any that catch our interest.
