Has the Cait sith province ever dealt with invasions or war over their more hidden magic?
a good question!! Gleam and its capital; Kallaston, especially has some hostile ties with the uniquely strong witches in Swimmers Rest.
After the sleeping witch era began, witches across otherland were rushing to undo the corruption of magic that was clearly going to keep spreading if no one figured out how it worked.
In Kallaston, scientists/witches discovered something that the old witch Kallas wasn’t intending to lend to the public. Abilities were gained simply from reaching into a well and listening to something they couldn’t repeat in their own language. Thus Kallaston witches began being recognized for having their own uniquely useful types of magic.
In Swimmers Rest the whole old province was practically turned into an arena ground as the corrupted magic there was stuck in destruction frequencies. The witches who stayed were by no means meatheads. They were smart and had corruption powered abilities that led many to call them less than people for.
Keone doesn’t remember it, but her temple was once attacked by a Swimmers Rest invasion on its way to challenge the Kallaston noble witches due to Keone at that point in time being a supporter of nobles. (She doesn’t remember her past lives. And the fae she served adjusted their views to upset the least amount of people and the newer Keone has obeyed that rule)

inspired by @musekicker’s worldbuilding game I tried setting up one for otherland.
Meow!!!!!! since otherland is not meant for an audience other than me it is not built to be generally appealing. It is information dense. And since I barely talk about it I decided I’d start off creative games like these with simply just location and species lore.
wrote down locations, species, conditions/entities/outliers. And I’ll randomly roll 3 and write a new description about the results!
First roll was one I wanted to avoid lol, not out of dislike though. this one is more than built up compared to other locations in my list. The rest got some new thoughts added to them though
Locations, 10
Gleam, Cait sith province once under rule of one of the first witches who now lays cursed in a tomb in dreaming sleep. The rest of the original provinces founded by these first witches will be called an old province. It just means the later areas were built by the inhabitants without any say from the first witches. Many non cait sith (“ket shee”) are restricted from the capital, as the government prefers withholding their magic teachings to anyone who isn’t seen as their people. There are many who come here using banned transformation magic to look like cait sith and learn their teachings to broaden outsiders magic. Many locals protect and defend these people for good reason, others try to out them and hurt or kill them.

Cù sith. (“koo shee”)
While the dog beasts of old otherland were transformed into the gelert by one of the first witches; Kallas, her son Hin had tried turning hounds into folk too and ended up accidentally creating the Cù sith. They look like anthropomorphic dogs with puffy fur and colors that are formed from their magic affinities rather than bloodline, their noses are not visible under their fur. The Cù sith are categorically fairies and even during the eras of restricted frequencies of magic the Cù sith had a decent well of magic inside of them they could use freely. Being directly attached to the frequency has its upsides and drawbacks, while they have strong senses and can notice something they’re looking for far better than non fae, they are prone to intense bodily harm in the presence of a magic affinity they’re weak to. Mothers with child still in their belly must abort opposite affinity children for both of their sakes. Getting emotionally attached to a place or person they cannot physically handle being near gives them heartache too.
The only Cù sith I’ve posted was Keone, but she’s an outlier as a summoned being and not a good example for the rest!

Hoodwinked.
Due to the dangers of transformation magic it is a banned practice of magic in the sleeping witch era. Still it is practiced, and with so little safe teachings many people end up hoodwinked. Transforming the body transforms the bodies magic and if done incorrectly it can result in shutting down the ability to use magic or being affected by magic. Leaving the hoodwinked stuck in the form they mistakenly took. Some do this to others on purpose, while not technically a curse it’s commonly referred as one.

Keone.. Y-you shouldn't forgive me.. I used my beautiful husband Paracelsus as a sled down a mountain and had so much fun but Paracelsus got sick and now he's green and his eyes look swirly... It's all my fault.. he is in pain..

Bit of an old headcanon I had for the selkies, but Mo Ifa can turn into a sahagin in certain conditions, like being in the monster miasma without her compact crystal/if the crystals water runs out. Heres art of her fish mode too
