@the-awoken-crusader:
A Cacturne and Gothitelle, huh? That’s quite an odd hybrid, but then again…I’m one to talk seeing what I am.
I couldn’t help but look at the fella oddly, specifically about how he worded his question. ‘Who’s your daddy?’ It just sounds plain creepy, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was intentional.
“Well…” I begin slowly, my eyes narrowing slightly. “You’d be correct about me not bein’ a typical Scrafty, I’m a Hybrid just like ya.” I pause, but only for a moment. “Well, not LIKE ya…but ya get what I’m sayin’. My mom is a Scrafty while my pops is a Samurott, thus why I look the way I do.”
A particular strong gust blows against me, instinctively I grab onto the hood covering my head and pull it down so it’ll still cover it. “Don’t think I’ve caught ya name.” I say. “If ya need a name to call me somethin’, Shadowjack will do.”
Harry noticed the Scrafty giving him an odd look. Had he said something weird? ... Maybe this guy had something against Cacturne? Harry wasn’t really sure, but he figured it was nothing important, and so he brushed off the look he had received.
“Ooh, Scrafty and Samurott? That’s pretty nifty! Never heard that one before.”
Harry held out his hand to the Scrafty and gave him a wide grin. “My name’s Harry, so you can just call me that!”
“So like, has anyone ever given you trouble for your hybrid status? I mean, I don’t mind, but it’s also not every day you see a blue Scrafty, you know?”

A town dweller who wanted to branch out? Fantastic! One of the ideal demographics for a night club. Anyone whose first time would be at his club would be a great way to bring in loyal customers or regulars possibly.
“Hey man, I totally understand where you are coming from. Being in the country for so long will make you want to branch out. Hell I did when I was a teenager.”
Reaching into his jacket, Nigel pulled out his business card from the inner pocket of his jacket and handed him his card. “I’ll admit it isn’t open yet, and I want to hammer out some details of my club out, but considering you showed interest take this.” The card listed Nigel’s name, a phone number he could contact him with, and bright logo with Moon Stone Club.
“I admit it is far from where you are and you live in an entirely different region from me, but if you ever happen to be in Unova, feel free to stop by. Show that card and you will get in for free. So thank you for your interest! Harry.” Nigel spaced out his name in order to make sure he remembered it.
“I really want to spread the word on my club and generate interest. Hell I still need to think of a name. Hence why the name on the card is temporary.”The clefable furrowed his brow. I was talked out of naming it that due to being too on the nose as to the owner of the club.”
Harry found this Clefable just a tad unusual. Or at least, he didn’t have the happy go lucky or mystical air to him that Harry assumed Clefables were meant to have. Regardless, he at least wasn’t rude or threatening, so the Gothitelle fave him a smile.
“Yeah!” Harry said. “I’ve lived around there all my life. It’s nice and quiet, sure, but -- I’m not one for super quiet stuff! And it can get pretty boring when all that’s around is trees and flowers and honey! Though, I’ve really been thinking about visiting Eterna City more. It’s fairly decent sized.”
Harry took the card and inspected it. Man, this guy had a business card? How fancy! Or, Harry figured it was fancy -- most Pokemon didn’t have their own business cards, after all. Plus, the logo was nice.
“Well, I’ll happily wait for it’s opening!” Harry tucked the card away and gave Nigel a small “thank you”. His bows almost seemed to droop when he heard what Nigel had to say next, though. “Aww, all the way in Unova? Well, darn ... that’s too bad, but maybe, if I ever get to visit Unova -- I’ll go there! Thank you again!”
“Oh, I see,” Harry said. “That’s too bad -- I think it sounds nice! Well, hope you find a new name for it soon. What do you mean by “on the nose? Oh, and another thing -- have you ever been to Sinnoh? What’s Unova like, ‘specially compared to Sinnoh?”
Harry @ Blayz: "Oooh, you look like a pretty firey Lopunny!" the Gothitelle remarked as he approached, "I bet that fur keeps you pretty warm. You got a pretty fancy outfit too! Nice. Are you gonna be doing any dancing here? What kinda dances do you like?"
The sherbet colored Lopunny was taken by surprise when he saw this rather tall…Human?! No wait, cant be Human his skin is purple. This creature was the closest thing he’d seen to a human thus far since coming to this world. Never the less he wasn’t one to make a bad impression. He simply bowed at the lavender skinned one and smiled.“Heehee! I’ve had some people describe me like that yeah! People also say It fires my name too, which is Blayz by the way, nice to meet you!” he said as the Lopunny introduced himself“My fur does keep me pretty warm, but honestly? The cold didn’t bother me anyways!” Blayz chuckled. Oooooh… Blayz. Be careful with your wording there.“Thank you! Your outfit is extremely regal! Almost like you’re a king! Unless.. you really are a king then please excuse my rudeness, Your Majesty~” he said bowing again.“I do plan to do some dancing here! I usually like to dance in a more Hip-Hop style but seeing as this is a ball, if people are willing to dance with me, I’m more than happy to dance with them!” he said still smiling at the Tall one.“What about you Mr… I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name! My apologies.” Blayz said taking another bow.
Harry noticed the way the Lopunny bowed at him. Nice! He’d never been bowed to before ... he bowed in return. He assumed that was what he should do...?
“Yeah,” Harry said, “just never seen a Lopunny like you before! You must be pretty special. I like to think I’m a pretty unusual looking Gothitelle myself, but you -- you look like you might even have a different type than normal! ... Oh! And as for my, my name’s Harry. Nice to meetcha! Blayz suits you pretty well.”
Harry stopped to listen to the Lopunny, and smirked when he said cold didn’t bother him. “Careful there now, you know. I bet there are some Pokemon here who would take that as an invitation to snowball your face!” he snickered.
“Not me, though ... and also, thank you for the compliment! I tried to make it look fancy, but I’m afraid I’m about as royal as you are -- uh, assuming that you aren’t. I sure wish, though. Wouldn’t that be nice! Everyone listening to you and-”
the dancing caught Harry’s attention.
“Well! I might consider that! Seems a lot of the Pokemon around here are paired up. I bet I can get my buddy to dance with me, though! I’m sure he wouldn’t complain. Speaking of -- did you come with anyone yourself?”
Harry @ Dycae: "Oooh, nice outfit you got there!" the tall Gothitelle quickly approached the Scrafty before placing his hands on his hips. "It really suits you! I like all the browns! So, I saw you throw a snowball back there! I bet you're a fun guy, huh? You like playing sports? Do you know any other winter past times? Like ice skating maybe? That is, unless it doesn't snow where you're from?"
Upon hearing the voice I turn to the source, I couldn’t help but blink in confusion as I look at the Gothitelle. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but this fella seems rather…different. Perhaps it’s the eyes, the dots near his lips also seem to give a clue on his origins.
When he commented on my get-up I couldn’t help but grin, besides the clip-on bowtie this outfit is what I always wear. “Glad ya like it, this outfit of my is pretty much somethin’ I always wear. Keeps me warm, not to mention quite stylish as well.” I chuckle.
My smile turns to a smirk when he mentions the snowball, or perhaps ‘iceball’ is the more appropriate term. The Pokemon that got struck by it is definitely gonna be sporting a rather nasty bruise on their head, but at least they won’t be messing with ol’ Dycae anymore. “Truth be told, I’m not necessarily one for sports.” I pause before continuing. “Well…to be specific, I move around far too often to find the time for sports. Can’t necessarily find the time, but I do enjoy walkin’ in the snow every now and then.”
Don’t get me started on ice skating, ever since my pops failed to teach me how to do that damn thing I pretty much avoided any icy surfaces every since. “Now, I’m might curious about ya.” I say, changing the subject as I give him a quick once-over. “Gonna straight up say this, ya don’t look like an ordinary Gothitelle.” Noticing my clip-on bowtie on my scarf is somewhat tilted to the side, I quickly readjust it so that it looks better. “Ya a hybrid or somethin’?”
Harry took note of the Scrafty’s staring. He wasn’t the first to do so – other Pokemon had been seemingly surprised by his appearance before as well. He decided to make no comment for the time being. He didn’t mind; he was used to it. Plus, he thought, who wouldn’t want to stare at him? But then, that was his ego talking.
“Not one for sports, huh? Well, that’s just fine.” Harry gave the Scrafty a shrug before continuing his response. “Traveling sure sounds nice though! Gotta admit, I haven’t done a lot of traveling myself, but I’d like to! And there’s nothin’ wrong with simple walks through the snow.”
Harry leaned in closer as the shorter Pokemon voiced his own inquiries. There it was – the question he was expecting.
“Ah, of course!” the Gothitelle nodded. “You wanna know what I am, huh? Well, clearly I’m a Gothitelle. But, my father was a Cacturne, you see! So I guess I inherited some traits from him. At the end of the day, they’re all pretty minor traits, really.” He paused for a moment. “I do have a couple spikes, but I got those retracted, to add a sense of formality for the ball, I guess.”
“And what about you?” Harry asked. “You’re definitely not a typical Scrafty either. Who’s your daddy?”

“From what I understand, it’s about someone wanting to break out of their mundane, everyday routine.” Madeleine said, a look of mild uncertainty on her face. “And as for how it goes? Well…” She scratched the back of her head for a second, seeming to think it over. It would have been so much easier with the music to help her, but she figured she’d have to improvise without it. With that in mind, the Gothitelle paused momentarily before she started to sing the lyrics to Harry, keeping her voice fairly low in volume but still getting the rhythm and tone on point. “Been working so hard, I’m punching my card~ Eight hours, for what? Oh, tell me what I got…”
When she got through the rest of the song, she clasped her hands behind her back after brushing her bangs out of her eyes. “So, what do you think? You want me to go through that again or do you want to try something else?” She asked. She was trying to hide a chuckle but she couldn’t stop the amused tone that she had in her voice when she spoke up.
[ @askgothitelle ]
Harry thought for a moment. He figured that Madeleine likely meant mundane as in what was mundane for humans. Regardless, he watched her closely as she sung nearly under her breath. He grinned. This song would do!
“That’s great!” Harry clapped his hands together. “We can do that one as a duet, maybe! So then, we won’t run out of breath. At least not as quickly anyway.”
Harry inhaled, then let a deep breath. “You ready? I’m gonna go talk to the Leafeon over there, with the radio, then we can start!”
@ask-sisterlysylveon:
“Something that gets the blood pumping, you say?” Madeleine repeated. She looked thoughtful as she raised a hand to her chin, trying to think of something from her musical memory that would fit that description. She knew a lot of upbeat songs when she was with her team, since she could keep herself preoccupied and happy with them. A minute or so passed before a grin split across her face.
“Oh!”
The female leaned over to Harry and lowered her voice a bit while she watched the other Pokemon nearby, raising a hand to her cheek. “I know a song you could sing on solo, if not with me. There was this song I remember hearing from a movie, it really gets people dancing, I hear. It’s called Footloose, have you heard of it before?”
Harry only nodded enthusiastically when she repeated his statement. He waited a moment for her to speak again, and he raised a brow when she started smiling. He was immediately curious about what could be on her mind.
He lowered his head slightly when Madeleine leaned over, so she could more easily whisper to him.
“Hmm...” Harry thought for a moment. “Footloose” definitely did not sound like something he’d heard before ...
“Nope, never heard of it,” Harry said. “But if it’s a good dancing song, that’s fine! What’s about? How’s it go?”
@ask-sisterlysylveon:
“Yeah, sure!” Madeleine offered a slight shrug while a smile returned to her face, after the brief look of surprise that had crossed her features from Harry grasping her wrist. “That would be nice!”
She followed the other Gothitelle close behind as they made their way around their fellow partygoers on the field, letting Harry take the lead before finally catching up to him and walking at his side. It wasn’t long before they had reached the small clearing, where some other Pokemon had gathered around a stereo system. “So,” Madeleine glanced up at Harry as they drew nearer, “You want to go solo? Or are you thinking of a duet for this one?”
Harry made a beeline for the karaoke station, checking back behind him every so often to see if Madeleine was near enough. He nearly bumped into a Pokemon or two, but overall it was a smooth trip.
He took a moment to look over the other Pokemon sitting around the radio before turning back to Madeleine. He wasn’t quite sure what he wanted to do, but he had an idea.
“Good question ... huhh ... why don’t we start with ... solos? Unless you wanna do a duet first? Not sure. Either’s fine really! You choose.” the taller Gothitelle shrugged. “Either way, we should do something really ubpeat! Don’tcha think? I think. Something that gets the blood pumping!”
@askbohemiancompany
“He would be a whole lot happier if he would just be more willing to barter like they are supposed to do.” She gave the teller a look, only for the cat to shoot another irritated look. “I will try to bounce a discounted price until he recants. Which he is one tough guy.”
Now was the time to lie. Gwen was hear on a job in order to assassinate a certain gangster who had tried to lay low in Floaroma town. That gangster was long dead by 4 hours and he was hidden nice and deep in a hole in the forest somewhere. For reasons that are obvious she had to think up an excuse.
“I’m here on vacation. I’m staying at an inn for a while. I live in Unova so I hoped a bird and flew over here.”
“Well sir the oil lamps are over there to your right 4 shops earlier. Maybe you two can go over there and stop trying to barter with me!” Gwen shrugged. “Well there is your answer. I’ll go with you. Because I am apparently unwelcome here.” As the two walked off Gwen figured she might as well ask on him a little bit. “So what exactly do you need an oil lantern for? You one of those mons that prefer old fashioned crap?”
“I see,” Harry said simply, “Guess you can’t win ‘em all!”
He clasped his hands and smiled at Gwen’s lie; he hadn’t the faintest idea she was even lying. “Oooh, vacation! Well, welcome to Sinnoh! Ain’t it pretty? Pretty lakes and mountains and cities with a lotta nice traditions!”
Harry simply shrugged at the Persian’s dismissal and walked off with Gwen without another word to the cat.
“’Cause I don’t use much electricity, that’s why,” Harry began. “We can start up a little fire in one of those lamps and it’s just fine! I guess some Pokemon use electronics? But that’s kinda odd to me; kinda ... human? I dunno. Does that make me old fashioned?” he snickered.
“Ah ... I’m Harry, by the way.”
@ask-sisterlysylveon
“I can’t disagree with you on that,” Madeleine quirked her brows, shaking her head slightly. “From what I understand, it’s like their own way of trade. Except it’s of greater importance to some individuals. Humans still confuse me, even with what I’ve learned about them.” Then her brows raised. “Though I have to say they have very interesting ways with food.”
“That’s good, at least it’s not too far from home.” She nodded after listening, “So what are they doing out in Hearthome? Are they looking to start their own lives there? Or are they working on something together?”
A smile split across her face at the questions Harry asked with regards to her travels. She recalled her journey with her team, and she remembered it being one of the nicest things during her stay with them.
“Mhm. I’ve been told that my family was living in the Kalos region, rather than Unova, so that must’ve been where I was from. I’ve been to Johto and Kanto with my team, and I’ll be honest, I really liked Johto. I remember a lot from it too. There was the lighthouse in Olivine City… Cianwood City’s beach was really nice too. Ecruteak City, I loved learning about the legends surrounding that town. Mt. Silver was incredible, and the Bell Tower…” She paused for a second, “To see trees in their autumn form while it was still summer, it just struck me.”
“Still kinda weird,” Harry said, shrugging. “You know? I don’t get it. But,” Harry continued, changing the subject, “I’ve had their food before. It’s real flavorful! They make real nice sweet things! Like cakes and juices? They’re good at it!” He felt hungry just thinking about it ...
“Isn’t it grand? They can come and go as they please.” Harry closed his eyes for a moment, thinking about the city of Hearthome. “They’re looking to start lives there. Since they’re adults now, and all ... maybe I’ll join them and try the city too one day? I have no clue.” He opened his eyes and sighed. “It’s very different from here, ya know? Much louder!”
Harry listened to Madeleine’s stories about her travels with great interest. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t jealous; it sounded like she had a nice time.
“Ooh, that’s pretty nice! Never been to any of those places. Johto sure sounds pretty! It’s still pretty traditional, isn’t it? I’d like to see that tower place though, ‘cause those trees sound really snazzy!”
“...You ever been to any of the lakes here? Lake Acuity’s pretty nice in the winter. The water’s crystal clear and it goes well with the snow ... but any of the lakes are pretty great, they’re all nice! So’s Mt. Coronet, it’s really majestic ... you oughta see them sometime, if you haven’t already!”
(( rp responses will have to wait till morning, my apologies :’o ))

“Oh, of course,” Harry said. “Mama especially, I think. ‘Course, I suppose that’s only to be expected, since she had five kids with him. But boy, humans are kinda weird. I dunno how something like paper could be so special to them. Shiny stuff like coins, maybe, but even still. I feel like there’s a lotta things that are worth way more. …We have a few coins saved for situations when trading ain’t gonna cut it, though. Mama’s had those things since forever.” the Gothitelle tapped his chin. “But I still don’t see the point.”
A mischievous grin spread across Harry’s face at Madeleine’s assumption. “And you would be correct there!” he then went on to talk about his sisters again.
“They haven’t been at Hearthome for too long. But yeah, they’ve already visited once or twice. It’s a little bit of a long trek from Hearthome City to the outskirts of Floaroma Town, but it’s a doable one. I’d say the area between is one of the most well connected places in Sinnoh! ‘Specially ‘cause Hearthome’s in the middle of it all.”
Harry thought for a moment. Madeleine had traveled here, hadn’t she? Maybe she’d been to different regions. He decided to take the opportunity to ask her.
“So, Madeleine. You’re not from around here, right? D’you come from a different region? Or have you been to any? What’re they like? I’ve never left Sinnoh, myself.”

Cesare watched from a distance as Yemir ravaged the hives. Sheesh, she was really tearing the place apart, he thought. Not as if it mattered too much -- Combee always seemed to have their hives back up within days.
He felt himself involuntarily wincing as the bees pelted Yemir with attacks. He wanted to assist, but figured it’d be better if he just stayed on the sidelines. And so he continued to watch, his eyes going in every direction trying to follow the action.
As soon as Yemir started running towards Cesare, though, he felt himself starting to panic a little. He immediately whipped around and started running as quickly as he could in the other direction.
“SO,” he began, panting, “JUST HOW MUCH OF IT DID YOU GET?”
“AND ANOTHER THING!! CAN YOU TELEPORT OR DO WE HAVE TO KEEP RUNNING?”

Harry took a moment to disregard everything going on around him to examine the Persian’s merchandise. No lantern in sight. In fact, all the stuff this guy was selling looked way too complicated to Harry, for the most part.
“Barter?” Harry asked, essentially parroting Gwen. “Oh ... well, I’m not real good at that kinda stuff. I don’t usually come to this part of the vendors, you know? So I don’t know what they do. But today I thought I’d give this place a whirl, though I ain’t seein’ much. So, how’re you planning on successfully getting this guy to lower his price anyhow? He doesn’t look very happy.”
He looked over to the item that he assumed Gwen was trying to obtain, and squinted a little. “Is that one of those radios? Huh. Never had one. I’m looking for a lantern, and not the paper kind either, I need the oil kind.” he then looked over to Gwen again. “So, Gothorita whose name I dunno, like I said. New face. Whatcha doing in Floaroma, huh?”

Madeleine’s brows raised in surprise, blinking once with slightly wide eyes. She’d never met a Gothitelle with Cacturne genes, and she seemed a little intrigued by that. “Cacturne? Wow, that’s interesting,” She smiled brightly, and it wasn’t long before she asked a new question. “So what does your father do? Does he have a particular job that he does away from home?” “Hmm, sounds like she’s a bit of a troublemaker,” Madeline then mused with an amused tone of voice, putting a hand to her chin and resting the other on her hip. “I bet she’s sweet~ Five, though, you say? You have other siblings? What’re they like?”
[ @askgothitelle ]
“Well, thank you!” Harry gripped the sides of his skirt and curtsied in a joking manner. “Glad you think it’s interesting! Anyway ... what does ‘e do... I believe he was going out to trade some stuff. But the things he wanted can’t really be found ‘round here, so, he’s been away for a while ... I would suppose a Pokemon like you is used to more human like money? Gold or paper or whatever, right? Is that what you use?”
Harry nodded enthusiastically. “Oho, she can be! Though, she backs down pretty fast once she finds out she’s been busted.” He folded his hands in front of himself with a seemingly smug expression. “But yes. My parents had five children. I’m the eldest, with four younger sisters. I could tell you all about them, but, hmm. There’s a lot to say, so I’ll try to keep it short.”
“Jane comes right after me. She’s very timid. She and the third oldest, Catherine, left for Hearthome some time back. Cathy’s pretty relaxed, she’s real easy to get along with. After her is Victoria. She’s still an adolescent, and she can be pretty moody. She thinks she’s more independent than she really is sometimes ... Matilda would be the last of ‘em! And, well, I kinda described her already. So there you go! The household was much louder when we were all still children. Not so much now.”
Harry didn’t go down to the town marketplace too often. Scratch that, he never went. He never saw the need. He had everything he needed back at home, right?
Or so he thought. His beloved mother had asked him to grab a lantern or two, since one of theirs had shattered. It was understandable, he supposed. It was old.
He scanned the vendors for anything that might point to what he was looking for. Wait a minute...
It wasn’t a lantern, no. What Harry had spotted instead was a Gothorita. Of course he was going to go over and talk to this one. Why shouldn’t he? He was always pleased to see “another.”
Though, this one didn’t seem to be a child. Shouldn’t she be a Gothitelle by now? Odd. He thought it over for a moment before making a beeline for the other Psychic type.
And he wasted no time striking up a conversation. “Hey!” he waved a hand in front of the Gothorita’s face. “You! Never seen you around before. So whatcha doing here? You look outta place. Mind explainin’ yourself, little lady?”
