Because I chose the username I did, I felt it important to establish that yes, I really would like if you would ask me about my crow. He's incredibly sweet and intelligent, highly personable, and an absolute darling. I promise I'll talk about any number of things, but as the username requests, I will always be happy to talk about Jude. Also, my name is John.

Hello there!

I'm Brier, the mun-- they/them, mid-twenties, a-spec, and nonbinary. I've roleplayed with people before, but only individually or through outlets such as DnD. Tumblr style roleplay is new to me, so please assume if I do something silly that I don't know and feel free to point it out so I can be a good presence on your dash.

John, the muse, is an original character from a potential story. I hope you like him!

Oh, very lucky I found it! Or, I follow so few people so far, it was easy to find. I'm flattered you thought of me, though! You know, rather than ripping prey apart, praying mantids actually eat their prey alive! Plenty of time to wish you picked another flower, isn't it? Rather glad I can admire them without worrying about such a thing.

The only benefit from my position is how often I get to visit wonderful places, and specifically how often I get the visit the botanical gardens, which have recently started an exhibit for insects that look like plants! Naturally, none of my work associates care for information on orchid mantids' evolutionary wonders, but I have to tell someone about orchid mantids' evolutionary wonders, so here's my favorite tidbit for it: the orchid mantis is not based on an orchid.

Now, the orchid mantis certainly looks similar to an orchid to the human eye, it was given its name for a reason, but it's not a perfect mimic for us or her prey. This is also regardless of the differences between human and insect perception, the mantis' prey doesn't see her an orchid either. They see her as a universal flower. The female mantids evolved to register as many floral visual cues as possible to try and attact prey visit for pollination, and have been recorded to attact more bees than actual flowers in the surrounding area. Which is incredible, to evolve to become more attractive than actual flowers! What's even lovelier about this, is that this evolution has nothing to do with reproduction, as is often the case for female creatures and even more so for females who near double the size of their male counterparts. She evolved specifically to be a hunter. The previous evolutionary constant for orchid mantid ancestors had them blending in with the foliage, which suited them fine, however the evolution to look like blossoms bettered their hunting chances, and this is first time that predatory evolution has been found in female insects... at all!
