Turns out I was a bit more burnt out from my exam prep than I had thought, and seems like I've been firing from all cylinders while running on empty for a while. I hope to get something published before I have to go on another small hiatus, but I'll be actually visiting friends in Japan in July so I won't have the chance to work on updates while abroad QwQ

I didn't end up doing anything too special or unique with Terra this time because we've kind of done this gag already before, but I wanted to do a little bit more with Koga before he goes back on the shelf for a while. I DID really like the way the fire effects turned out though!
Ayame was fun! But much like Sesshomaru, she took a LOT of fiddling to get a color palette I was happy with (there ended up being about seven different iterations of her in the end). It was a really tough choice between the coral pink scales that match the accents on her armor, or jade green scales that match her necklace, but ultimately the coral won out because it gave her some really good visual contrast with her eyes, necklace, and with Koga himself.
This took me basically all weekend to put together, but I really wanted to get one last answer out before the upcoming radio silence. Treat this as my hiatus announcement and a small parting gift before I go quiet for a few months. It's not bad news though! I started taking night classes to prepare to take the Principles and Practices of Engineering (PE) exam to get my professional engineering license. The course is very intensive, and will consume most of my evenings and weekends for the next 3-4 months. I intend to take my licensure exam in April, then take a celebratory vacation with some friends, so...
You might not hear from me until May.
I will leave you with this thing that I tinkered with a few weekends ago!
I recreated my Pony Inuyasha model in Inkscape just to see how it felt, and while some of the process was easier (shadows and eyes, for instance) the rest was nightmarish! SO! It was a fun experiment but I will definitely NOT be migrating my artistic process to Inkscape for ponies!
(perhaps a question for the mod) How do you distinguish "Youkai" ponies from regular ones? Do you have lore reasons? Just winging it with what feels right?

OKAY LORE TIME!
So basically the way KĆga said it, each Kirin is attuned with a nature spirit. To this end, all of the demons/yĆkai from Inuyasha canon are Kirin. The Kirins of Nippone (as I am tentatively calling their island because I am great at puns shuddup) don't necessarily work exactly the same as the ones of Kirin Grove in Equestria, so I don't have to worry about stepping on toes or hooves or whatever. The Kirin's yĆkai is what gives them their magic, and empowers their Nirik form, and some older/more powerful Kirins can transform into their yĆkai (like SesshĆmaru).
(Oh also y'all gotta see the wolf and dog I drew for this comic because I largely obscured them and that's a shame. They're great.)

This was the original orientation of the drawing and the sketch, and I flipped it for the ask. You may also see this one floating about on bluesky or deviantart because I posted it on some of my other socials first with a different signature in the corner.
She took me about 6 hours total to draw from sketch to finish. I'd like to get to draw more things like this in Inkscape so feel free to give me as many excuses as possible to do so! I'm also really enjoying using Inkscape to draw cutie marks, so if you need a custom high-res transparent PNG of your character's cutie mark, hmu!

Why can't there be more time in the day for me to do all of the things I want to do all the time forever??

He's dressed as a Komainu, the Japanese version of the lion-dog. The Japanese take on these originally Chinese sculptures is cute. In China they're strictly intended to be lions (though westerners still refer to them as lion-dogs or foo-dogs or several other variations there of). When the lion statues and carvings made their way to Japan, they were dubbed by the locals to be dogs, and referred to as komainu. They come in pairs, and guard Buddhist temples and shrines against evil. Whether the mouth is open or shut can have specific symbology, but accounts contradict each other on what which shape means besides that the open mouth shape is the "Ah" shape and the closed mouth shape is the "Un" shape.
I figured Inuyasha would struggle a bit with coming up with something scary to dress up as, because he's obviously so tough and fearless that nothing ever scares him ever. So he'd go with something that's more a) venerated and b) dog-themed lol.

Well thousand years ago, give or take, Princess Luna let herself fall into darkness and became Nightmare Moon. Very serious issue, eternal night, Elements of Harmony bla bla bla, that my people turned into a holiday.
Now foals dress up so Nightmare Moon won't recognize them and gobble them up. They collect candy from neighbors and offer a piece in tribute to appease the restless wandering, hangry spirit of Nightmare Moon.
Adults dress up too. I'm going as @forgivemeomycyns's Serial Designation V; a killer robot with a sweet side. My wife, @diamond-tiara-4-serving-spoon is going as Cyn herself and Cyn is going to be Diamond. It will be so much fun. I'm really excited for the first time in years! Lady Veronica is a friend and she gave me her blessing.
You should come along and join the festivities, Mr. Inuyasha.

I haven't had enough time to work on this as I would like (had a couple weekends consumed, and work projects eating my time to draw). I still have more to draw too! But Nightmare Night isn't over until midnight tomorrow so I have time!! Anyway, thanks @a-spoonful-o-generosity for humoring my desire to make this stubborn horse get dressed up and have fun.

Spoony made me add several new poses to my collection! Also I don't know much about Murder Drones, but it was fun to draw her dressed up as Serial Designation V!
I also spent a whole weekend drawing Nightmare Moon, which was a delight! I learned how to make clipping masks and blur objects/layers in Inkscape. My power grows day by day. Soon I will be unstoppable!
But yeah, I'll upload that one by itself later XD
I should probably also upload the other Inkscape art I said I would upload too... maybe I'll get to it in November, lol.
Anyway here is my WIP image of Nightmare Moon when I was just drawing the object shapes and not giving them their final colors yet. The method to my madness always involves making the evil clown version of the character first.

First off! Copper Strikes!
I made many more of him than were strictly necessary, but I had a different plan for the way this ask was going to go initially. So WHOOPS! Bonus PNGs for you! I honestly started this ask just with the concept of the visual gag of Inuyasha licking his hoof to put out his mane flames. As you can see... it got away from me a bit!
OKAY! So first of all I'm so sorry this took so goshdarn long. @drakowulf can attest I have in fact been working on it a very long time and not just slacking off! I got this wild hair in me to do these scenes in a stylized way using Inkscape and OOOOOH my gosh I am so glad I did! They turned out SOOOO good imo! I'm back fully in the saddle of my former capability of doing lineless vector art (I also did a few cutie marks with it for fun).
Each of the flashback scenes are actually recreations of specific scenes from the show! I tried to be faithful to the composition while giving it the color and simplicity of the pony style, but also giving it a dose of my own personal style.
The first is obviously from Episode 7 "Showdown! Inuyasha vs. Sesshomaru!"
The second is actually from the third movie "Swords of an Honorable Ruler"
And the third is from Episode 182 of The Final Act "True Heir"
I will say in the case of Pony Inuyasha's retelling of events, he's taking much more of the credit than is strictly his to take. Ultimately it was SesshĆmaru who broke Tenseiga on Tessaiga after realizing Inuyasha truly was the rightful wielder of Tessaga.
I am so very proud of these little scene re-draws that I will definitely post them separately uwu

Sorry for the long wait, too! I had to migrate to a new laptop and ended up having to re-install the OS a couple times. It's been kind of a nightmare to the point where I'm backing up everything I make on my network drive before shutting the laptop down for the night because I just don't know if it will wake up again. Also I'm learning how to do animation in CSP! It's a lot less intuitive than it was in Photoshop or Flash, but I am using an old version of CSP so it might be easier in later versions.
Anyway! Here's the fancy gem boy! I love Drako's new look so much!
