Some more headcanons based on my boy, William
*inhales*
Tries to get along with everyone
While Ben raised him to be the best, again, Will still has his moments where he comes off as cringefail or accident-prone
He and Timmy’s mom met when the flock was playing a game of soccer/football and Shaun’s mom (I’m gonna name her Dolly) kicked the ball just enough for it to land on the neighbor’s field. Despite Dolly’s efforts, the rival sheep began to condescendingly play with the ball and just so happened to toss it to William. He was in the middle of scolding his flock when Mary went up and politely asked for their ball back
I actually wanna take this moment to hc that
1. Ben and the Farmer were always neighbors, the latter just didn’t appear til Season 6
2. The two flocks don’t hate each other per se, but I do like to think Ben’s flock (with the exception of William) consists of sheep who look down on the flock in Mossybottom
William knew he loved his wife the moment he laid eyes on her and they got to chat a little before Bitzer’s dad blew his whistle. Mary didn’t fall for him then, but she still told the others what a nice ram he was
They got to meet again at those sheep and wool festivals/events. Sometime during the event, the two slipped from their respective enclosures/friends and hung out together. They became fast friends before their owners found them
William admittedly made a fool of himself at said event, but Mary found it kind of cute
On that same day, while watching another (human) couple start to waltz while playing music, William asked Mary to dance. When she said she never danced with anyone before, he offered to teach her so they did. Mary fell in love with him right then
Despite their friends telling them “You really shouldn’t hang out with that ram/ewe. You can do so much better”, the two would sneak out of their barns at night and bond with each other. William sort of pulls a Romeo when he greets Mary at the window. Yeah MAJOR Romeo and Juliet/West Side Story vibes with these lovebirds
Mary eventually felt comfortable enough to properly introduce William to the rest of her flock. They were wary of him at first (especially Dolly), but Will quickly befriended Shaun’s dad and they were like “alright, he’s cool”
On the subject of Shaun’s father, who I’ll name Bruce, the two often shared a braincell, basically having the same dynamic as their sons
Had their first kiss and exchanged “I love you”’s at the same time
Mary used to caress William’s face all the time, prompting William to gently kiss her palm
Will loved to play with Mary’s head wool/hair
While Will is more cowardly submissive than other rams, Mary finds his confidence very attractive…especially his grin. By god she loves that grin
The same day he proposed is the same day he officially moved to Mossybottom. While Ben found it difficult seeing how he raised/helped raise Will, both farmers saw how much the two sheep loved each other and let William transfer to be with his love
He also proposed with a homemade necklace
William was both ecstatic and on the brink of fainting when Mary revealed she was pregnant after a visit with the vet. Mary didn’t care about the gender as long as the baby was healthy while William preferred to have a son, but would still love his lamb if it were a girl (ofc he got his wish when Timmy was born)
William’s last wish to her was to love their unborn child and take care of herself. She got to give him a kiss on his head before he died in her hooves
Both farms were really quiet after his death. Despite their differences, their sheep all knew William was a good ram and a loving mate to Mary
Remember how I said William helps Shaun and Timmy get home? Spends the entire journey playing with Timmy. He’s the best at making silly faces. Maybe he even sings a lullaby when Timmy is upset
His spirit is always there whenever Timmy feels down about one thing or another
He was very good friends with Ben’s best pig (the pig with muscles in the episode “Prize Porker”); I hc his name is Arthur
I have a side AU where Will is still alive (as an excuse to imagine what he would do if he was a real character in the series). In that au, * he would have successfully hid both himself and his wife away from Preston and Wendoline’s lorry, since he prioritized the wellbeing of his wife in the moment. So instead of going back to try to rescue young Shaun and his parents, he stayed with Timmy’s mom and refused to go back out. Timmy’s mom, however, still watched the others be taken away
Since the incident, William has survivor’s guilt, where he blames himself for being a coward to not even attempt to rescue Shaun back then. While Shaun doesn’t blame him for what happened, Will still thinks he could have done more and he’ll never forgive himself for what he was too afraid to do. On the bright side, he knows that the memory doesn’t necessarily define him as a whole and does everything he can to act like a parent figure to the flock, much like his wife
OH. He also sees Bitzer as a son to him. He’s seen how good Bitzer is with Timmy and he couldn’t ask for a better role model for his boy. In fact, if you were to ask him how many kids he has, he’ll say he has 3 boys: Timmy, Shaun, and Bitzer
