I know I am not very active here, so, many of you won’t care what I have to say. In fact, it’s probably irrelevant to most of you.
But I feel as though I need a full blown rant on Facebook roleplaying since I recently lost my account that I used to roleplay Akashi from. Ah yes, I had so much fun and pain from it.
Back in the summer of 2012 I remember seeing accounts for Kuroko Tetsuya pop up. I was just getting into KnB and I had never really considered roleplaying from facebook. ( I mean, I had an account for Sawada Tsunayoshi, but that was just so I could link to my TinierMe account-- ) In any case, the Rakuzan vs. Shuutoku match just happened and Akashi was still much of a mystery. I wanted to roleplay him.
Honestly, I didn’t know what it would be like, but I intended to take on the role as if Akashi had a facebook, and I was going to do my best to portray him. A few bumps here and there (I didn’t realize the fandom would be so gay, OK?). This was my acceptance of yaoi. I don’t hate it, unless you shove a dick in my face... but honestly, I don’t really ship anything and when I do, it’s more of a really strong platonic feeling (???) or super strong hate-- ( I really like hateful relationships like Josuke x Rohan, so shoot me )
Eventually, I met a most wonderful Kuroko who wasn’t crazy obsessive-- fun fact, they’re the one who urged me to make this blog. Our characters formed a relationship (as documented on our timelines by fb) and most people stopped hitting on my Akashi. Kuroko and I roleplayed very rarely because of life, but hey, they’re moving to my town in May and we can have a real sleepover. With Shintarou too who coincidentally also moved to my area within the past year. Wow am I lucky.
Aside from those two, I met another Kuroko and a Kise. (I’ve met a lot of Kurokos and Kises) These two have become basically best friends of mine. Tetsuya still gets nervous around me... But these two have traveled with me to other fandoms like Noragami and Tokyo Ghoul. It’s been all the fun I could ever hope for. They stay wonderfully in character so I feel a little spoiled. All of those fun memories are lost because the truth is, you’re not supposed to create roleplay accounts on fb. One by one I lost the characters I portrayed. (I even went as far as to organize their liked pages with stuff they would have liked if they were real) I feel like my heart and soul was ripped out, yet I can’t get mad.
But there’s one more person I need to mention (Oh, it’s another Kise). If you ever were a part of the KnB rp community on fb, maybe you knew the “SuperFabulous Kise”. <3 There’s absolutely no way you could hate this charismatic ball of sunshine. I love them so much it’s like an addiction.
We’ve had some great roleplays stemmed from Akashi and Kise becoming an interesting pair of pen pals. One of my earliest letters to him was a list of instructions on how to play Shogi complete with drawings and GOM representatives for each soldier. Their letters expanded as far as Akashi recommending a tasty dark chocolate hot cocoa mix and Kise wanting to share his 5S Salad in return. 5S because the title of the salad had 5 S words making it up and maybe because it was self-proclaimed 5 star. Can you guess that one S stands for Seaweed? (Yuck!).
Our first Gon and Killua RP was on these accounts... Actually, it was on my status. Back then, it was really easy to change your name without having to wait 60 days to change it again, but you were limited to the number of changes you could make. So for a couple weeks, Kise and Akashi became Gon and Killua. We also tried Kagami and Kuroko around that time. We’ve portrayed so many more roles since then too.
This person is my light, my sun, and I am their shadow, their moon. And the two of us would have never met outside of fb. It sounds quite lame to say, honestly. I’m sorry.
It’s been a lot of fun.
That’s it; just a lot of fun. Thanks for letting me reminisce here.
