A mom in Baldwin, New York RSVP’ed to a small child’s birthday party invitation with a vile anti-gay screed.

Little Sophia turns 7 in a few weeks, so her two dads decided to throw her a party and invite her friends to celebrate. One of those friends is Tommy, whose mom Beth is apparently a rabid homophobe. She returned the invitation with the following response:

"Tommy will NOT attend. I do not beleive [sic] in what you do and will not subject my innocent son to your ‘lifestyle.’ I am sorry Sophia has to grow up this way. If you have an issue or need to speak to me: 516-362-1357.”

Sophia’s dads were understandably furious, so they sent the letter off to local radio station K-98.3, who posted it on Facebook. The station adds that they contacted Beth, who “gave us permission to post her phone number and said anyone who has a problem with what she wrote can call her, too!”

Too much sad's today

Great. I'm about to go onto shift for the day and I happened to pop onto tumblr to have a look at the new wonderful things from the people I follow and what do I find? So much heart breaking tear jerking beautiful things of happiness and sadness from my spectacular list of people I follow.... I am strongly effected by emotional things be it happy or sad and I'm often brought to messy nosed blurry eyed crying depending on the level of happy or sad. >.< there is just too much to handle right now, darned emotional heart of mine!

holy i just thought of a really sad headcanon for frozen

so obv when Elsa is locked up in the dungeon you can see that she has cuffs covering her entire hands. it wouldn’t make any sense to put a normal, non-magic wielding person in cuffs like that and i don’t think it would have been possible to have a blacksmith fashion the cuffs in the, what, day or so that Hans went to go retrieve Elsa?? in fact, it looks like this entire dungeon area was specifically catered to holding Elsa. and it honestly seems like Hans couldn’t have had them fashioned anyway without a moral outcry from Arendelle considering at the time she hadn’t actually committed a crime yet, and there was still the possibility of them peacefully bringing Elsa back and having her change everything.

so what i’m saying is

what if her parents had that dungeon and cuffs fashioned specifically for the chance that Elsa went rogue? what if they eventually had the full intention of locking up their daughter?

I have the feeling that the king and queen actually feared their daughter at some point. When we first saw them barging into the hall, you can tell that they’re mad at Elsa and blame her instead of going “It’s okay, everything’s fine, it’s not your fault, you didn’t meant it,” like the majority of most Disney parents do. Like, they could just tell their kingdom that their daughter have ice powers so they could understand better instead of hiding her from the world like a monster. It’s like being Rapunzel locked up in the tower for being a menace, being gifted, being DIFFERENT, being more powerful than any of them combined. That’s why we didn’t really feel the loss of her parents and why Rapunzel’s parents managed to tear our hearts apart without saying a word. I think, from what I’ve seen, that they actually didn’t love Elsa FULLY. Besides, I think the King and Queen did this on purpose after knowing some part of what might happen in the future, should Elsa’s powers grow out of control. They love their daughter, but also fear her at the same time.

Yes, exactly! The only act of true love is from Anna because she’s the only one who looks highly of Elsa and loves her for who she is. She LOVES Elsa’s gift and thinks it’s cool, not dangerous. Even with her memories of the magic taken away, she wasn’t afraid of her sister after what happened at the ball. You know how people always say that you can’t lock yourself in the past and move forward? I think that’s what Elsa did. There’s one other thing that I noticed too, is that her father taught her don’t let them in, don’t let them see, be the good girl you always HAVE to be. Treatment and expectations like that can really effect someone to always act perfect and proper, to make the best impression in front of everyone but had been taught that being herself, using her powers is considered a bad thing, which automatically made her a BAD person. Even from childhood she’s afraid to truly be herself and thinks that she’s cursed. She can’t thaw her frozen heart because she never saw a reason to love herself.

Yo but I got mad douchebag vibes from her parents. At the beginning they rush in putting all the blame on Elsa when (if they had taken the time to ask) it was due to Anna’s excitable ness that the accident happened. They race off to see the trolls and for all we know it’s to rid Elsa of her gifts or at the very least take Anna’s memories, as is done in the movie. All obviously planned out by the maps and various diagrams they have. The thing that troubles me most is when the GrandPapi troll asks “born with or cursed?” He hesitates. The dad hesitates as if he doesn’t know. It’s obvious it’s not to protect Elsa or a lapse in memory but (I think) because he views it so much as a curse (views Elsa adopts, evident in the “First time in forever reprise”) that he doesn’t think of it as part of her but rather something that is making her a monster and has no positive use or aspects.

One thing that bothered me in the movie was how quick the father knew where to look for the answer of where to get help for Anna. Their library was only seen once but based on the castle size it is likely huge. The father already had in mind where to go for the answer, what book to look for to get the directions, and who to look for. We see later on that the trolls are believed to be a myth and are hard to find and even then they are not likely to appear for just anyone. Also the troll leader knows who they are. We can explain it as the mystical troll leader had some extended knowledge, but based on their isolation I have a feeling he had met the kind before.

Drina is a poor college kid just like her creator. And the blog's maker, Lindsay, just bought the required books for her spring classes. With careful buying skills and awesome super bundle powers what would have eaten up a whole pay check only are half of one for this semester's reading materials. But even still this is fucked up. 17 books for 318.42 is still horribly expensive and now all her hopes of getting a tablet are out the window... Again.

Hey followers I'm here to ask for your help! In my comic I'm very aware that I'm going to be dealing with some racial diversity, not just with my monsters but also with my humans. My main character Drina is of European decent and no I'm not meaning just France, Germany, and Britain. I mean the Scandinavian countries, Eastern European countries, and Russia too. Why include that big a 'white' range? Because my blood line is from those areas also including Scotland and Ireland and Greece. This is my tip of the hat to families that are from nomadic blood, like myself and isn't so easily defined as anything other than 'white'. Ok so I dragged that out into the open so if you wanna howl over it I've don't most of your work for the closed minded meanies that may see this. Now these three characters above me are NOT so easily 'white' and I'm here to ask for help getting some good color schemes for them. Please keep in mind that I've got a limited color palette to choose from because I'm poor and only have markers. T...T one day I will buy a tablet when I'm not so poor. The characters I need help with are as follows. The tenant from floor 7: He's definitely going to be racially dark. He's from the area around Israel and needs to be colored in a way to flatter this fact. Any helpful references of people of that region is so appreciated. D.D. The landlord: I'm not going to do the usual blue genie with him and since he's effectively an air elemental being I want to do something that honors the sky at a certain time of day or night, suggestions would be awesome! Martin the half-troll uncle: Martin is not related to Drina and Brina by blood and as a half troll he's going to be based on forest trolls, no not wow trolls. Originally I made him with dark hair and mid ranged skin, but now I'm not sure. Suggestions on this would be amazing.
