How does Dragon’s Rising work out (and Ninjago Legends Monstrosity too with the whole “monster premise”) with Anacondrai Kai? Do people fear or freak out at him and see him as a uncanny monster because of his weird form or is everybody just chill when they meet him because they know from past stories of what happened and they know this is the Fire Ninja and theres nothing so threatening about him.
Also would Wyldfyre be more cooperative with Kai since the start of their meeting since Ninjago is based on multiple asian countries and snakes and dragons were seen as related in those said old asian cultures (eg. Chinese), and since he breathes fire, would she mistake him as some weird looking dragon or something like that?
Sorry if this sounds like a lot of questions, I just haven’t visited this blog since before Ninjago DR was released I think.
Still love you art and au btw 🫶
I'm gonna have to watch Monstrosity again, I don't totally know how to bring Anacondrai Kai into it. Cause like, by this point Kai has been an Anacondrai for such a long time he doesn't see himself as monstrous anymore.
In relation to that, I don't think people are really frightened of him post-Merge because they really are used to the Serpentine Ninja by now. I do think Arin would know the history and that Kai used to be human (even if he was like super young when that was happening, footage most likely exists of human Kai still, or at least it did until the Merge in which who knows how much of it was lost). I think the Serpentine especially would preserve and share the memory of the only Serpentine ninja.
(Attempts to recreate his fighting style among serpentine probably persist post-Merge but it's a bit harder on account of most serpentine being bipedal which Kai is not)
I don't think the cultural idea of like, snakes and dragons being related isn't much of a concept in Ninjago itself? It at least hasn't been like, presented that way. Dragons and Snakes do genuinely already exist in-world and they're not really associated together.
Like, the Devourer wasn't a dragon but instead a snake. The reason the folks of the First Realm interpret Kai as a wyrm-dragon instead of a snake is because that makes more sense to them, snakes don't get that big in the First Realm (nor do they have voices), and it helps the Iron Baron to have these strangers fit into their pre-existing narrative of Oni and Dragon.
I do think Wyldfyre would be a bit more cooperative with Kai, because she's more familiar with dragons than people, but also cause I figure she'd be the kind of kid who likes snakes. They're like less cool dragons. She's also definitely had encounters with snakes before growing up, just none like the Serpentine specifically. She might initially assume he's some kind of weird dragon but that misconception doesn't last long, especially once she's seen actual Serpentine before. She's still as chaotic as in canon with him, but the snake aspect does bring a little bit of like, "oh you're kinda cool when you're not talking about responsibility" from her.
She is definitely bummed that Kai isn't venomous, though. Venomous snakes are the coolest. (She will bluff to strangers that Kai is venomous as an intimidation tactic tho)
