Welcome to the 2015 PruCan Holiday Gift Exchange!

Winter fast approaches, introducing itself in cool winds and frosts, finally speckling the landscape with snowfall - at least, in the Northern Hemisphere, that is.  And what better way to ease those northern chills than the warmth of giving?

A gift exchange event for PruCan fans to come together to create fanwork for the pairing and each other, whether it be seasonally themed or not, and to receive it in return.

Event Basics Based on the same design as your regular “Secret Santa” event, Gift Exchange participants enter their forms and are matched with partners who they are gifting to, without knowing who will be gifting to them until gifts are revealed at the end of the event.

Accepted forms of fanwork for this event are Writing, Art, Fan Music, and Fanmixes.

Writing - Written prose of all genres (we ask that written pieces meet a 1,000-word minimum).

Art - Visual media (drawn, painted, etc.)

Fan Music - Music made by the fan themselves, whether it be an original composition or an adaptation of a preexisting song to fit the pairing or themes.

Fanmixes - Compiled music for the pairing based on a central theme.  (preferably posted using 8tracks).

Timeline

Sign-up form will be up from Nov. 22nd-Nov. 25th (11:59 PM PST), subject to close early if the participation # becomes overwhelming for the 1.5 event runners.

Late entries will be accepted on this blog until Nov. 27th (11:59 PM PST).

Information sent out to participants Nov. 28th-30th.

Gift posting from Dec. 23rd-Jan. 5th.

Prucan Week: Day 3: First Kiss

1858 - Wedding of Princess Victoria to Prince Frederick William of Prussia

High off budding nationhood and drunk on a lot of champagne, Mattie gets help from Gil to find a place to lay down and suddenly kisses him, and then immediately vomits. In spite of being asked to leave him to die, Gil still dutifully helps Matt to bed and makes him drink some water before leaving him to sleep it off. Matt remembers none of this and may or may not drunkenly make out with Ludwig the next night of festivities.

Prucan Week: Day 2: Treasured Memory

199X? First real night ‘together’? Omg this is going into my embarrassingly detailed headcanon timeline. The last time they really saw each other and interacted was just after WWII, and there was a sort of a mutual understanding of feelings but not a good time to act on them? And then there was Cold War stuff and German Reunification, and Gil was sick for a while. Then finally he was well enough to be like ‘hey let’s go out for dinner’ and Matt was all ‘more like let’s go out for breakfast’ but really they just ended up staying up all night talking.

Hello! I really love your blog & I think you are totally awesome (I think Gil would agree)! But where did you get a book about the cultural history of bears in Europe/ what was it called? Now I really want to read it! 😄

((Thank you very much! The book was from my college’s library, and was The Bear: History of a Fallen King by Michel Pastoureau. It’s interesting but doesn’t really go much into modern representations beyond the teddy bear.

I’ll post this publicly in case anyone else is interested, even though it doesn’t really have anything to do with Prucan, I read a lot of random nonfiction))

Updates are slow going but this blog's still alive I swear

Things are kind wibbly wobbly right now because...

-I "graduated" in November but I still have an online class to finish that I'm currently taking

-My arm pain that's tendonitis-but-not-but-oh-maybe is still a mystery. The orthopedic sent me to a rheumatologist who basically summed it up with a shrug and a sad trombone noise

-The job I had that I thought was secure until I found a real person job is not and I have until the end of February to find a new one and NO ONE WILL CALL ME BACK WHAT IS UP WITH THAT

-My computer randomly stopped working this weekend and I thought it was dead and ordered a new one kind of spontaneously and then suddenly it started working again

-I'm trying to set myself up for making crafts to sell in the future

-My life is a fart

-I am a fart

((Its a good thing they didn't got to Cuba, they hate Germans/Prussians there. During the cold war, East Germany told Cuba they'd send a crap ton of industrial equipment to Cuba if they sent them fruit. Cuba sent the fruit, but never received anything from East Germany. Since this was a huge slight to the Cuban people, they don't take kindly to Germans. *also excuse the spelling, I'm on mobile and its being difficult*))

Which is exactly why Cuba said no.

More and more each day, winter can be felt in the air.  Markers of the season have begun to pop up everywhere, and the time has come once again to begin gifting events.

Before anything else, I would like to thank everyone who filled out the interest survey.  The help you provided in organizing this event cannot easily be put into words, but without your input it certainly would not have made it even this far.

Event Basics This gift exchange is based on the same principles as any regular “Secret Santa” event, with moderate variation.  The gifter is unknown to the giftee until the end of the event, at which point they come forward, along with their gift.

Though fandom gift exchanges may vary in accepted gifts, due to issues with adapting the other options presented, fanwork which may be done through this event are: Art, Writing, Fan music, and Fanmixes.
