I was wondering, given the flourishing documentation that occurred after the Cherokee language was given a written alphabet back in the 1800’s, to what extent is the language still in use(spoken/written). Is the constitution that followed this historical landmark still in effect? What about your currently neighboring tribes? Sorry, I’m just really curious!!]

[ The language is still used today, mostly by the older generations, but there are people learning it still, and things like JOM ( the Johnson O’Malley program) allow for young people to learn some of the language and culture in school. I only really ever see the written language on signs in Cherokee clinics and stuff like that tbh.

As for neighboring tribes I’m not sure, I’ve known a few people of creek heritage personally, but that’s really the extent of my knowledge, sorry 😅. I hope you found this at least a little helpful.]
