This and Studio Ghibli sending a katana with a note that said “no cuts” to Weinstein when he was handling the distribution of Princess Mononoke are now my two favorite movie anecdotes
It's official, folks! We're living in a cyberpunk dystopia!! ☠️
The not so secret meeting

For some reason people stopped talking about autonomous zones after the CHAZ was shut down, so most people don’t realize that both George Floyd Square in Minneapolis and the James Talib-Dean Memorial Encampment in Philadelphia are still autonomous 3 months later
They’re also both facing regular threats of invasion and could really use visibility and support. The cops are expecting to be able to clear these places out without anyone else noticing
Just found out there’s one in Los Angeles too, under the banner Black Unity LA
The folks at George Floyd Square and Black Unity LA are also both holding regular community assemblies to organize and start conversations around these movements
This is far from over. Don’t take your eyes off of what’s happening
some white writers & animators from Nickelodeon are really trying to steal the entirety of hair love by Matthew A Cherry a BLACK animator who was already working on a series for his short film with another company. Matthew has confirmed this isn’t his series and it’s making my BLOOD boil. The lack of respect for black creators is insane. It’s due to air on September 13th on nick jr. please don’t support it!
This is so damn sweet ❤️❤️❤️

Working America is the political organizing wing of the AFL-CIO (aka the U.S.’s biggest federation of workers unions) and has consistently since 2007 advocated for universal healthcare, along with other progressive causes such as increased minimum wage, and encouraged people (especially the working class) to vote for union-backed candidates. But lol guillotine meme I guess.
the whole twitter thread is full of people sharing their screenshots of getting this text and being like “lol, guilllotines” and even when the volunteers humor them and try to get them engaged and thinking about specific solutions they won’t, it’s just people showing off that they don’t actually give a shit
Hi everyone,
As a union organizer, i want to echo what is said above and I want you all to know this isn’t funny. We’re just trying to do our jobs and (because it’s election season) are working well over 40 hours a week phone banking, texting, and wishing we could be in the field so we don’t have to deal with twitter-finger slacktivists.
We use a mass texting app and will opt you out if you waste our time with this shit. Some organizers will avoid opting you Demons out because they want to encourage the youth to vote and participate. Mutual aid and direct action are necessary, but trolling people who have a job to try and get people engaged to vote or phone bank for a certain policy isn’t activism, it’s just harassing us.
I love how it is all polite history and then that post script

here’s my hot take
you forgot someone.
i wrote about this before, here’s a thing that ticks me off bad
fat people are constantly shamed for “exposing too much skin” even if said “too much” is perfectly acceptable % on skinny people
i know everyone is being shamed for skimpy outfits but for fat people it’s so much worse, not to mention fat people wearing exact same clothes as a skinny person is more likely to be sexualized because of this perceived bigger amount of skin exposed
