Genderfluid is a complex identity with lots of potential expressions. Instances of genderfluidity exist across time and culture, and it's important to recognize how they've been historically erased.

Diversity of Nonbinary Youth

Over 25% of LGBTQ+ youth identify as non-binary. Learn more about non-binary genger identity diversity among LGBTQ+ young people.

Pew Research Center has also indicated that about 20% of people in the U.S. know a non-binary person, which could include genderfluid individuals. There is a lot of research overlap between these groups due to a lack of representation.

Ultimately, it's important to support those who mean something to you this pride, especially those who are trans or GNC. Make sure they feel supported and loved this Pride! 🩷💙💜🖤🤍

….Mythbusters WELDED A METAL SPIKE into the barrel of a gun to obstruct it, something heaps stronger than a human finger (and sealed the barrel better with the filler metal used to fuse the metal spike into place and prevent the explosive gases from escaping) but even that didn’t stop the bullet from doing damage.

liveblogging persona 5 part 1

im already ~18 hrs in but i just had this idea and dont think its too late

im gonna blog every time i finish a game session

the first persona game I played was 4 last year. never played any shin megami tensei games and generally pretty new to jrpgs.

spoilers obviously

I just finished the arc with Kamoshida and am partway through May, having just finished up the first exam season.

mechanical stuff

man i wish the questions day by day in class were less than a memory check. there are so many fun minigames- like the batting cages in this game. having daily questions be basically random chance is kinda... bland

p4 had the excuse of being quite old, but p5 has overall refined the formula of p4 in ways that make things like this feel like an oversight

the fact that you can't see where you are in terms of how many skill points you need to progress is also kind of lame imo. makes stuff like repeatedly studying before exam season feel kind of grindy. or maybe its a commentary on how the education system incentivizes tedious tasks that encourage you to forget info after you've heard it for the first time. regardless, there are better ways to go about it

um mementos is cool. i assume it's like p4 dungeons? which i didnt like then, but at least floors in mementos are a lot shorter and have more to do.

morgana is soooooooo much better than teddy. i actually kind of like her. i have heard the reason teddy is like that is due to the fact that he's lost in localization, but morgana is just pleasantly charming. except for every time he makes the 'im not a cat!' joke. ive had enough.

i'm sure ann is wonderful. i just don't know how to train kindness yet and as such can't access her link.

ryuji best boy. i would die for him. his smile lights up the world. hes everything i wanted from yosuke and everything i loved about kanji in this delightful little spunky package. he's probably going to be my first s.link 10

i kind of like that, between the initial trio of students, everyone is kind of a delinquent and outcast at the school. it makes the feeling of being downtrodden robin-hood types more apparent and plays into that superhero sort of fantasy (wherein people that bully you dont know youre actually saving their asses). also brings into light the class consciousness angle and how systems of abuse can magnify one another. i can't imagine any of this trio is particularly wealthy considering what happens at the hotel buffet.

it's nice. i felt sometimes like yukiko joining the investigation team in p4 signaled an end to the group feeling like those sorts of outcasts. yu is also allowed to feel pretty cool at school early and doesn't really get bullied in the way ren is.

obviously the intro was great. immediately hooked me in. and i like the little asides with the detective lady, even if i wish they had more substance to them than announcing that you're going to unlock a plot beat or s.link.

regardless having a good time.

man that's a good game.

idk like. having been in the fandom since 2016 for ut and since 2018 for dr... getting to reexperience it with someone who came later into the fandom is very interesting.

the end of chapter 4 is a triumph of toby's writing, in my opinion. The way a difficult fight (my roommate's partner took about an hour to beat the titan. I died 2-3 times, which is unusual for me) peters out into so many emotional scenes needs to be studied for its pacing

it's crazy how well toby can hit all of those beats effectively without it feeling like too much. I suppose this is partially because the high-tension moment of the Titan + Gerson joining in for that fight is punctuated by the much quieter and more emotionally impactful conversation with Ralsei.

Then that tension fades into the Light World section with you, Susie, and your thoughts... and the nostalgia of the soundtrack putting this heavy weight on your shoulders. I'd be curious to hear how people who hadn't played Undertale/didn't know what song that was referencing felt in that moment, because to me... I just haven't seen anything like it.

Then they beat you over the head with a kinda disturbing moment with Toriel. The way Kris and Susie react there is deeply uncomfortable and puts an immediate end to that quiet contemplation from the prior scene, leaving those questions to stew...

Until you get that last moment, with Kris in their bedroom and Susie outside. Where everything ALMOST bubbles over. And all you're left with is that lingering feeling of tension for the next year- a moment of Kris' misfortune spread out across an unknown period of wait for chapter 5.

I'm kind of glad chapter 5 got cut out of the paid initial release. It makes the moment like that a lot more compelling. But even still, all of those moments in such rapid succession are the important part here.

Here was one of my absolute favorite shots I did for my RE:CONCERNS animation!!!

I distinctly remember finishing the lineart for this section on the shuttle back from the airport to my apartment. Part of me feels bad that you can’t really see the animation for the left hand as much in the final result but oh well. Also I do feel like I’ve still improved from here cuz man the timing is… yeesh.

The parallax in the final result was also fun for me.
