guys, just because lestat is finally telling his side of the story (and that from his viewpoint things might not be exactly how louis tells it, because they're different people who view the world in different ways due to the very different ways they've lived their human lives) doesn't mean that louis was lying in his interviews.
i really need y'all to understand that.
one day we're gonna have to have a conversation on why some people believe that only lestat's version of events is true.
as a certified lestat hater there's a lot of things you can hate him for, (just look at season 01, and you'll find more than ten reasons to), but hating him is not a reason to downplay the fact that he's a victim of abuse, grooming, rape and incest by his mother
Countess & Lady Kilmartin 🌹- Prints
Time to be weird and scary with big bro!
you can love a character and still admit when they’re wrong. i love penelope bridgerton (née featherington) but i can acknowledge her flaws (she has none) & i can hold her accountable for her wrongdoings (she’s never done anything wrong in her life) & call her out for her actions (which are always correct)!
A Happy Polin day
Polin week 2026 day 1
Penelope Featherington had a habit of collecting calendars.
This was something Colin discovered while they were moving in together as he hauled a very heavy carry-on inside their tiny apartment.
“What is in this thing?” Colin said, incredulous. “I thought our apartment didn’t need any renovations but it feels like I’m hauling bricks!”
His girlfriend of one year (but best friend/situationship for a decade) looked at him with wide eyes.
Penelope Featherington had a habit of widening her eyes. In their many years of friendship, Colin determined that Penelope had 5 different kinds.
One, her most common, was being secretly sarcastic all while trying to be engaged with the person she was talking with. People knew Penelope to be sweet and quiet but only a select few knew how cynical and cleverly biting she really was. It worked well for her alter-ego Lady Whistledown, the main character of her young adult detective series. He shared many a glances with those widened sky blue eyes throughout the years and always wondered how people could get Penelope so wrong.
Two, was for her mother, the constant thorn in her (and his) side. Penelope rarely used this in public but would often have it on while emphaticly complaining about another of her mother’s wild antics. This one he disliked seeing the most.
Three was when she felt embarassed by not having the timing right on a perfect quip she just thought of. She had this in networking parties, one he would often drag her to just to bring colour to her pasty cheeks when she would get too lost in her writing. Great sex came after he realised after datinf her in account of her girlfriend feeling grateful for the distraction. As if he wasn’t an already incredible distraction.
Four was when she would stop herself from squealing at another thing a Bridgerton nephew or niece would do. Penelope loved being auntie Pen and was already a favourite among the many, many Bridgerton babies.
Lastly, number five, was aimed at him whenever he discovered another evidence of how Penelope had been obsessing about him for the past 15 years. He teased her about it when he first discovered one: a faded yellow children’s scarf she used as a bookmark for her nighttime book (because Penelope read 2-3 books in a period of time depending on what mode she was in for writing). But Penelope burst into tears feeling that he made light of her keeping mementos of their relationship. Colin knew about the scarf for a long time but never thought it was about him. He had since managed to find a journal full of short stories about him, a shirtless photo when he was 18 and she was 15 at that one disastrous Featherington-Bridgerton getaway, and a preserved yellow rose he gave Penelope on her 13th birthday. He couldn’t remember doing that so he appreciated that she kept the memory alive.
There was a treasure chest of everything that Penelope loved about him all these years. Discovering them made Colin feel like a giant, as if he could take on everything in the world.
“What is it, Penny?” he teased.
“Nothing you need to know about,” Penelope stammered.
“You know you are incapable of keeping a secret from me. Now that I’ve seen everything.”
“Stop teasing,” Penelope chuckled.
“What is it? Please.”
“Fine. You’re bound to see it soon anyway.”
Colin practically bounced off his feet as Penelope unzipped the small suitcase and out popped—
“Calendars?” Dating from 15 years back to last year. Colin pulled one of them and started to flip through it. There were marks everywhere in each month. Drawings, quotes, tiny diary entries everywhere. Some as common as every Bridgerton and Featherington’s birthdays (including the nieces and nephews as they came). Even anniversaries for his siblings and their partners. Edmund Bridgerton, Archie Featherington, Marina Thompson and John Stirling’s death anniversaries had beautiful quotes about the life they had.
Colin looked at Penelope. Her eyes worried and afraid. After all these years, she still had something she was insecure about. Why would anyone feel afraid to show how open their heart was to the memory of each day? No one celebrated every moment the way Penelope did. She always remembered everything someone said and did. And now Colin knew that she chronicled every big moment, careful not to let the moment just pass by.
How could he have ever been stupid enough to wait 10 long years to realise how much he loved this woman?
His eyes fell on the month of April, on the single square coloured in yellow. It was empty unlike the others and it was the same for every year.
“April 6,” he said quietly. “The day we first met.”
Penelope’s eyes widened. Her blue eyes sparkled in surprise. “You remember?”
Colin put the calendar he was holding and took his phone out. No one really looks at the calendar on their phones except for work. He opened the calendars list, hid everything except for the one called Sunshine and passed the phone to Penelope.
“Click on April 6 and flip through each year.”
Penelope opened the calendar entry and saw a simple note: Met Penelope this day. Make it special. She saw the little recurring icon next to it. Noticed a bunch of notes like buy yellow scarf and ask Daphne to teach me how to bake a cake. The notes were all over. The calendar had marks for the days that corresponded to her own calendars like beach day with Penelope. Do push-ups and figure out better way to remember timezone difference so not to wake Penelope up too early.
“I don’t know why but I’ve always written on that calendar everything I experienced with you,” Colin started. His eyes were brimming with tears. “You always show me how much you love me— have always loved me. I want you to know that even though my head didn’t know what my heart was telling me, you have been in my heart since the day I met you.”
Colin leaned in and kissed Penelope’s lips softly. “My forever Sunshine.”
“I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you. Happy Colin and Penelope day,” Colin remarked, realising that it was, after all, April 6.
“Yes, that was the 6am alarm that woke you up this morning,” Penelope said, chuckling.
“I thought it was the moving day alarm.”
“That was the second one.”
Colin laughed and kissed Penelope again. “What do you say about calling April 6, Colin and Penelope day?”
Penelope’s eyes widened in delight and Colin discovered the 6th way his girlfriend’s eyes widen.
“What about Polin day?” Penelope suggested, he bright eyes twinkling.
“I love it. Happy Polin day!”

Today’s polinweek entries will consist of me doing whatever pops in my head in the moment. Because Polin is my forever muse ❤️
What if Madame Yu was so adament about Jiang Yanli marrying Jin Zixuan because, if she can control nothing else about her daughter's future, she can be sure Jiang Yanli's mother-in-law will be good for her? Madame Yu isn’t stupid, and it is shown that she does care for the safety of her (own) children. Jiang Yanli lives in a world where she'll have to get married. Madame Yu can’t control how Yanli's future husband will behave, but this way she can be sure her best friend is there to watch over her daughter. The mother-in-law is an important figure to a bride marrying into a new home. It is known that madame Jin is a rather revered figure in her own house, and she treats Jiang Yanli like she’s an angel, going so far as to take her side against her own son. Even if Jin Zixuan had turned out abusive (which seems stupid to say about Jin Zixuan of all male characters in the book, but the whole deal is that as a wife whether your husband is good to you and will stay good to you is both rather important because you can't leave ánd based on sheer luck(!), not to mention that JGS does not set a good prescedence), Jiang Yanli would have had SOMEONE to stand up for her and take care of her. Jiang Yanli is also known to be weak. Madame Yu and Madame Jin are both strong cultivators, and even they have trouble and feel trapped in their positions as wives. This would be worse for Jiang Yanli who would not be able to stand up for herself the same way they can.
vamp!pen can absolutely get it 🙈
Kate announced she would leave for India, but didn't. Sophie wanted to go to the Americas, but didn't. Meanwhile Michaela just left. Didn't tell a soul and just fucked off. Say what you want about the woman, but at least she follows through with her travel plans.
people can be mad about it but i KNOW colin is the favorite bridgerton sibling for all the spouses. phillip? already his friend. they geek out about greece together. sophie? colin's a traveler. he's got appreciation for a variety of cultures and he's sweet as hell. i feel like their sense of humor would vibe. kate? she obviously adores him in canon, but he's also the sibling who gives anthony the most shit and you KNOW she's cheering him on about that. simon? again, colin gives anthony the most shit and you know he's down for that. plus, he's daphne's favorite, too. AND his son in canon also has speech and language concerns that colin and pen go to simon for advice with, particularly how to be good parents to him, and that touched simon's heart something fierce. michaela and colin are canonically buddies to start with, too. plus, i think she'd find him funny. and they're both queer so they can bond about loving women in queer ways. john? finds him instantly charming. their neurodivergent rizz just vibes together effortlessly.
he's chaotic and silly and sweet and goofy and they all love him.
you just KNOW they all found out his family hardly wrote to him on his travels and rioted. he's probably on speed dial for all of them. he's invited to the spouse trips. they go out for brunch. they play dnd together. they go on trips. and pen, as a bridgerspouse, when asked if she minds him attending all the functions, just shrugs and goes 'i mean, he's my fave, too'
Did Pen really choose to write so much about the Bridgertons in Whistledown or did she kind of have to constantly write about them because they’re the messiest bitches in the ton?
Simon: I can't marry her because my father was abusive and I want to punish the man by ending the bloodline.
Anthony: I can't marry her because I might love her and then if I loose her I might suffer too much.
Benedict: I can't marry her because she's lower class and the society would cast us and my whole family out.
Colin: I HAVE TO MARRY HER.
A bunch of (unorganised) thoughts about an AU where Penelope never became Whistledown (i saw debates on twitter and it got my brain WORKING)
No concept of a diamond? No one is there to provoke and challenge the Queen, and Whistledown was the one to name Daphne the diamond
Daphne being forced to marry Berbrooke — it was the public humiliation that drove him away. If it had remained rumours that no one could really prove, he would have stayed.
Colin marrying Marina. Even if Penelope told him about the pregnancy he might have still married her because #HeroComplex
As a result Penelope would try to find a husband much earlier too. She does not have the Whistledown money to get new dresses behind her mother's back but perhaps Violet agrees to sponsor her since they're now officially family through Marina and Colin's marriage, and Eloise is also now debuting
The Featherington would not be ruined at the end of the first season, if anything they're in a better place with the proper connection to the Bridgertons, but they're still in debts.
No cousin Jack plot cuz one of Marina's children would become the new Lord Featherington after Archibald's death? Which still puts Colin as the de-facto head of the estate in the meantime lol
Which puts him in the perfect place to be tortured when Penelope starts to get suitors. As the new head of the family, he's the one who has to veto any suitor, after all
A less opinionated Eloise? Ultimately, it was Whistledown that reinforced her feminist beliefs upon seeing a successful woman fool the ton. Maybe she'd be more jaded and angry especially seeing her own brother force Daphne into a horrible marriage
She also never ends up meeting Theo. Neither does Penelope anyway.
No Pen and Gen friendship
Anthony marrying Edwina? Whistledown calling him a rake is one of the reasons Kate was so against him. But I think she would have clocked him anyway and would want to protect her sister so I think Kanthony is still endgame in this case. Arguably they'd get together with more ease too since Edwina wouldn't be a diamond, assuming the concept does not exist in this AU.
HOWEVER would she take an issue upon learning Anthony forced his sister to marry Berbrooke? She's very family oriented too, and maybe she'd imagine Edwina in Daphne's position.
Though "forced" is maybe a strong word, since Berbrooke ended up blackmailing the Bridgertons to get what he wants but it never would have happened if Anthony hadn't promised him Daphne's hand without consulting Daphne in the first place, so my point still stands tbh
Assuming from book plot, Benedict and Sophie would not be as lucky as Kate and Anthony without Whistledown though. Joining polin in the trenches
Philip would never know his brother's kids, and would have no reason to start some sort of correspondance with a certain someone since he is content in his recluse life
Francesca's story would be thoroughly unaffected at least
And other stuff I forgot, probably
You know, lowkey, I kinda want an au where Colin, after trying the rake lifestyle his brothers swear by he says to himself, this lifestyle sucks and I'm not happy. Let me find some new influences and friends.
Sadly, the ton was full of men like his brothers, and Colin's quest to find some new friends was not going well. Then one day he ran into one Mr. Albion Finch and one Mr. Harry Dankworth. Neither men were that popular in the ton but he found they were a lot happier than most others.
Both Albion and Harry were naturally happy people who preferred going to Gunter's over White's. Both also shared a love of food like Colin. Tea times has become much more exciting ever since Colin, Albion, and Harry have started bringing different foods they have found for the others to try.
Colin soon found himself spending more and more time with these two gentlemen over his old school friends, and he finds he's happier. He finds he cares less about what some others think of him. Oh, he still craves his brothers' approval, which probably won't go away, but he's coming to terms he doesn't have to be like them. Even if they don't take him seriously, his dear friend Penelope does.
It's at a ball he spots his dear friend with her family when Albion and Harry both stare in her direction as well.
"Colin, who is that?" Albion asked, mesmerized. Harry just kept staring in the same direction as the Featheringtons.
"Baron Featherington and his family," Colin said. He gestures to the women of the family. "Lady Featherington, Miss Prudence Featherington, Miss Philippa, and Miss Penelope."
"Could you perhaps introduce us?"
WAIT i also want a polin au where the featherington sisters have a close relationship, maybe because they all understand what it means to be all daughters of a less than popular barony. With a neglectful dad and a mom putting pressure on all of them, they turn to each other to confide their worries and stuff. It’s just an overall sweet relationship. They don’t show affection in public, since their Mama tells them it was unbecoming to show affection in public. Portia loves her daughters very much, she just has some issues regarding showing affection.
They all probably figured out that Pen is LW, with their relationship being so close, it was easy to figure out who LW is. They didn’t confront or stop her, mostly because they saw how much pride and fun Pen is having with it.
Prudence and Philippa, as the two oldest, dotes on and are protective of Pen (Felicity too if we wanted), because they understand that Pen loves deeply. They can see it through her actions, her kindness and her people pleasing (i.e. her relationship with Eloise). That’s why they’re so concerned when they noticed how much Pen adores Colin, and subtly discourage her from holding those feelings. They know the Bridgertons are bad news to them. They all might be part of the Ton, but they’re different compared to their families.
Prudence always watches Pen and Colin like a hawk, which is kind of why she’s not really married yet. She wants to make sure that Colin doesn’t do any funny business to Pen. So when Pen confesses about what she heard Colin say at their ball and (and also confesses about Eloise and the LW business), Prudence was livid. Was about to march into Bridgerton house and everything. But Philippa, the voice of reason, points out that they don’t have any power compared to the Bridgertons. So Prudence doesn’t and instead starts scheming on how to best protect their little sister.
They also say little lies to Portia, just so Pen can finally wear what she likes. Portia finally gives their opinions some value, since they’re married women at this point. They know Pen hates her clothes, and finally not being under their mother’s thumb, they can finally help Pen in some way.
Anyway, the next season, Pru and Pip finally decides to show just how close they are. Finally married (and recruiting their husbands into being protective of Pen), they do everything they can to run interference whenever Pen is about to have some time with Eloise and Colin.
What they don’t realize, is that Pen is also greatly adored by the Bridgertons, and so clearly wished and expected Pen to join them soon (once Colin pulls his head out of ass LMAO) so they also try to interfere when Pru and Pip tries to take Pen out of talking with Colin.
Honestly, i just want a Prudence and Anthony stand off as both the eldest Featherington sibling and the eldest Bridgerton sibling. I think it would be funny.
