”Miss Bae.. Please, after the coffee.” A small sigh.  “When you get back here I want you to explain what you mean by ‘discovering’ these people with abilities, because it sounds awfully like you want to out them in a magazine that has a million subscribers.”

“No, I’m not trying to out them,  I just think that we get more than a million subscribers.. But I will get you that coffee first, madam.” Ji-Min made a small bow to the woman.

“Yes? No! I don’t drink. But I can get you that.  If that’s what you would like, with your coffee.” She glanced at the door for a moment, pre-contemplating the task.

“I like to have a cider when we have parties, but that’s it.”

“Are you nervous, sweetheart? Don’t be nervous. I’m not going to fire you for not stealing alcohol from your co-workers.“ She smiled. “Just get me that coffee, with honey please. And get back here so we can talk about your your piece for the magazine.“

“Yes ma’am. And would you like honey or sugar?”

“Whiskey.

And if we don’t have it, get it from someone’s desk.  There’s got to be one person in this office who has a bottle of alcohol in their drawer.” No, don’t listen to her.

“Do you drink, Miss Bae?”

“Yes? No! I don’t drink. But I can get you that.  If that’s what you would like, with your coffee.” She glanced at the door for a moment, pre-contemplating the task.

It felt cruel- Was it cruel? Naah, no yeah it probably was. And now it looked like she was about to cry and oh no, no no, please not here.. Ugh. 

 ”Okay, okay here’s the deal — I can retrieve all of your stuff that I erased from your phone— under one condition.”

She wasn't the kind to make deals with people she barely new at all, but her phone was at stake here. Her phone, her life.

She broke out of her whining-face and switched to a more natural, annoyed look. "Fine, what?"

He stands up, using his full height to try and let the girl know if she wanted to fight for the phone, then he’d be glad to see her try. Casually flipping the phone into the air a few times as he walks closer, he comes to a stop infront of Penelope, enough for her to take it if she was fast enough. “Yeah, no, you’re right… there is literally nothing on this phone, anymore.”

She tried seizing the phone from him twice but was unsuccessful. "What do you mean anymore? What did you do?" Penelope tried to reach for her phone but her tininess made it difficult to get it back. She whined, slumping down. "Pleeeease give it back!"

"Oh." He lets out a hum, lips shaping a hard line and brow knitting together, "I’m afraid you’re a little too late for that…"

"What do you mean I'm too late? You have my phone right there, and I am right here, so you can give it back. Why would you want my phone anyway? There's, like, nothing on it! Give it back!"

It wasn’t like Lily made a habit of creeping on customers who were on their laptops during her breaks—well, okay, yes, she did; she tended to spend her breaks discreetly sitting behind patrons with laptops to catch glimpses of their screens, but only because sometimes they were up to interesting things. She’d spotted at least two hackers in The Grind over the past two months.

But this girl just seemed to be on her blog, finishing up a post, and as Lily’s eyes drifted over the look of the webpage, she didn’t think twice about grabbing her coffee, standing, and going over to drop into the seat beside this girl like she’d been invited—she had, in fact, invited herself. “‘Sthat your blog? Looks pretty sweet. There’s probably a couple things you could do to the layout to make it flow better, though. I’ve got—”

She paused to lean over and check the clock on the corner of the other girl’s laptop screen, before continuing, “—about ten minutes left of my break, if you want to let me take a swing at the html right here, I could probably have your blog looking pretty sick.”

Penelope jumped when she heard someone speaking very close to her. Her body was still frozen in surprise but her eyes watched the girl sit by her with extreme confidence. Was she watching her? How long had she been there?

She finally managed to move her head to face her laptop screen, then looked back at the girl beside her. First of all, she thought her blog looked pretty good. She wasn't the absolute greatest at web-design but that didn't mean she wasn't aware of what looked good and what didn't look so good. In all honesty, she the layouts of her blogs and websites weren't exactly her strengths, but that didn't stop her from feeling offended.

"Mmmokay. But, like, tell me first. Before you changed anything." She relaxed her hands over the keypad, somewhat protectively of her laptop.

"Oh. You mean this little thing?" He holds it up, gives it a little shake. "Cute. Kind of dangerous leaving your phone lying around, don’t you think?"

[aspiringscrawler]

"Yes, that thing. Could you-" she held out both her hands, "Can I have that back please?" She asked, sweetly. "It's not like it has super secret codes for some missiles - just, y'know, selfies, friends' numbers...the usual."

"Did you forget something?"

"Ummm... i don't think I- My phone."

SHIELD is gone

SHIELD is gone.

I think it’s a bit of an understatement to say it was a surprise to find the surge of information from SHIELD along with HYDRA, the terrorist organisation which, as far as I’m aware, started its work around the Second World War. SHIELD and HYDRA appear to have been fighting neck and neck since then but now, with the release of all this data, seems to mean that both have fallen.

Time To Shine || CA:TWS || Drabble

SHIELD, Hydra, even some things on Romanoff... All this information, with little to no restrictions, available for everyone to see. This was crazy. This was thrilling. She had so much material to use - she could only think of how much more popular her blog could be, how much more recognised she would be. People might even start to take her seriously. Because that's what she was, a serious blogger, blogging about serious things.

But if she had access to all this information then, obviously, so did many other people. If everyone already know, then the information probably wouldn't be worth much; it was like a lot of people had already published their own interpretations.

It was all fairly new stuff, however. And there was a lot to work with. There would always be room in the world of media to put out her own thoughts and opinions, even if someone gets there first.

"Alrighty," she said, pretending to crack her knuckles as she waited for her laptop to turn on. "Time to shine."

A gossip rag reports on Hawkeye being cranky towards some supposed ‘fans’ (which will later go on to be revealed as reporters looking for soundbites). Clearly STAR is either ignoring or completely missing the irony of their article all together.
