"Uh, yo. Question. What day is it?" Dammit, Lily, you're supposed to know these things.
"Uuuuhhh, Tuesday? Maybe?"
How long have I been down here again?
"—Huh." She looked down with a perplexed face and tried to count on her fingers before giving up. "Maybe. If it's Tuesday, it's the... 21st, right? Shit, that's like. Only three days from my birthday."
"Hi! Could I have a frappuccino and…" she hummed for a second, "Your favourite, hm? How good would you say they are?"
Lily grinned. "They're amazing, and I don't throw that term around loosely when it comes to coffee. It's sort of a point of pride that I know good coffee when I taste it. Plus—it's got chocolate. You can't go wrong with chocolate."
“Yo, dude. Eleven o’clock, totally hot babe checkin’ you out.” ((She says, standing very deliberately at his eleven o'clock :p))
Harry looked over to his eleven o’clock at her and blinked a bit before chuckling.
”Really? Checking me out? What for?”
"You seem like it."
With a chuckle, he looked over to her once again.
"You know, I think I would like that. When were you thinking? Now’s fine for me if it’s good for you."
Lily grinned all the wider at his response, looking pleased when he gave a chuckle. "Now works pretty well for me. Same place, or should we try a different coffee shop that doesn't carry memories of me spilling food on you?"

Since the mass exodus of former SHIELD agents, most of them had taken refuge at Avengers Tower. Tony had the resources to conduct thorough background searches on any and all who came to him, and plenty of vacancies after going back through his own employees’ files with a fine-toothed comb.
Of course, this had also resulted in having his own floor of medical staff, who insisted on running full blood panels on new residents and/or employees, with the assurance that all blood samples would be destroyed after testing for trace amounts of metals that often indicated nano-tracking devices. Jarvis kept a watchful eye to make sure this was done.
When Tony had hired/adopted Lily, she had been no exception to the rule. Still, he was confused when the results popped up on one of the holo-displays in his workshop. “Uh, Jay? What’s this doing here?”
"Upon reviewing Miss Morgan’s results, I thought you might find them rather interesting. You will note that I have taken the liberty of displaying your own DNA alongside that of both the young woman and her mother."
"Jarvis, what the hell are you on about?" Tony rolled his chair over to the display in question, flicking past most of the listed information until he reached the diagrams at the bottom.
Oh. “Well….shit. So much for joking.”
"Indeed. Congratulations, sir. It’s a girl."
Having her own space in Stark Tower was probably the best thing Lily could possibly imagine. It was nice to have someplace where she knew no one was going to scold her for tinkering or doing homework for her mechanical engineering or programming classes, and being able to brag about her situation at Stark Tower to the people in those classes definitely sweetened the whole deal. And being able to chat with Jarvis whenever she wanted was decidedly kickass.
So when his voice spoke from somewhere over her head, it wasn't much of a surprise, but it was a bit of a routine change when it was to inform her that Tony was in his workshop, and that he wanted to see her. Her brow furrowing, though hardly at all, Lily nodded, standing. "You got it, I'll be right there."
She poured two cups of coffee before she went anywhere—always having a cup of coffee for Tony was just sort of second nature by now—and then she was in the elevator, waiting for it to reach the same floor as his workshop. She hadn't worried much on the ride, or even stepping out of the elevator and entering the workshop, but once she caught sight of Tony's expression, her head tilted slightly. "Hey, mom. You called?"
Penelope jumped when she heard someone speaking very close to her. Her body was still frozen in surprise but her eyes watched the girl sit by her with extreme confidence. Was she watching her? How long had she been there?
She finally managed to move her head to face her laptop screen, then looked back at the girl beside her. First of all, she thought her blog looked pretty good. She wasn’t the absolute greatest at web-design but that didn’t mean she wasn’t aware of what looked good and what didn’t look so good. In all honesty, she the layouts of her blogs and websites weren’t exactly her strengths, but that didn’t stop her from feeling offended.
"Mmmokay. But, like, tell me first. Before you changed anything." She relaxed her hands over the keypad, somewhat protectively of her laptop.
Lily's eyebrows shot high in amusement at the deer-in-headlights look she was getting from the other girl. She was biting back an amused smirk as she waited for the blogger to respond, keeping a casual eye on her expression as she brought her own coffee to her lips.
She caught the indignant, or offended, or whatever—Lily was not much good with emotions, but she had enough experience with pride in her own work to recognize it in someone else—look on the other girl's face, and shook her head a little, not that that was going to communicate much to her. But Lily hadn't meant that it didn't look good; like she'd said, it looked pretty sweet. She just figured she could make it even better.
"Of course," Lily replied with a grin, sliding her chair just a little closer to the other girl's and looking at the screen of her laptop again—but not reaching for it, just yet. "Before I do anything in general, hi, I'm Lily. Nice to meet you. And before I do anything with the blog, I figure I should get a good idea what you want first. Sound fair?"
Nobody breaks my h e a r t.
"Two per shift, six to eight," Augustus repeated as he retrieved his wallet. He handed a five dollar bill to Lily and accepted the coffee with a gracious smile.
Then, his face seemed to get a bit more serious. The smile still lingered, but his blue eyes were intent on Lily, watchful and curious. “I don’t suppose you’re interested in a new job?”
Lily took the bill with a smile of her own, putting it into the cash register with one hand as she grabbed the correct amount of change out with her other hand. "At minimum, yeah, and that's counting you if you're going to work there as well."
Lily went to hand him his change, but the more attentive and serious way he was staring at her now gave her pause. She blinked at his question, before a small, amused smile crept across her face. "What, this is your strategy for getting new employees? Strolling into other cafés and offering to hire the competition? Gutsy."
She considered the question for a couple moments longer before replying with a bit more seriousness, "I don't know, I like it here. Good location, I get along with my other employees, the customers are interesting, my boss is only a pain in my ass sometimes. Still, stop by again once you've gotten into the business, we'll see."
steppingonyourmoment looks fairly familiar...
"Hey there!" Lily was quick to tuck her phone into her pocket—the phone she really probably shouldn't have out while she was working—and produce one of the bubbly, so-chipper-it's-almost-painful smiles her job required, but her eyes caught on the redheaded woman's face. "You look familiar, and I usually don't forget a face. Have you been here before?" She figured if the woman had, then she'd know what she wanted, and if she hadn't Lily could quickly run through the menu for her.
Loki is twitchy, tapping a foot against the ground and digging fingers into what fabric he can grasp of his fitted jeans. His magic relies on control of emotion and it’s slowly slipping away. He reaches up to tug the hood lower, conceal his face. He can’t possibly go back - not like this. Thor would nag at him and ask him what’s wrong and surely that was worse torment than this. Things had moved from the edges of his vision, flickering to just before him, hands clawing at him, faces becoming clear. And still there was that one who would remain unseen, nails digging into his shoulder and whispering promises of pain from behind his back into his ear. He never even noticed the midgardian woman approach and so when she speaks, he flinches as if struck.
"No….no I’m fine," he murmurs, eyes locking steadily on hers for only a moment before catching sight of something invisible to the onlookers and going wide.
Lily's eyebrows raise when he flinches, and she straightens just slightly and takes half a step back to give him some space—the way she sees it, if a tiny, five-foot-nothing girl is enough to make him jump like that, he's on edge enough to need that space. "You sure?" she questions a bit doubtfully.
His sudden, apparent distress seems only to validate her doubts, and when she quickly turns to look over her shoulder, seeing nothing, she frowns. Turning back to him, she studies his expression for barely a moment before lowering her voice to ask, "Dude, are you high? Because I don't—you can't do that here. It's bad for business."
"CAD Programs?" Sterling asked curiously. He had been on his way back from visiting Stark Tower and since his normal coffee shop was a few blocks away he decided to stop into this one. It wasn’t a promising start as he waited for the young employee to notice him standing there, but it was no fault of the cafe.
He didn’t seem annoyed by the wait.
"Just a medium coffee, please. And a cookie if you have any." It was almost 5:00 anyway.
"Computer assisted drafting. For my mechanical engineering class," Lily explained, internally sighing in relief that he seemed friendly enough about her distraction. She'd already been yelled at for it once, but it was an important assignment. She put his order into the cash register quickly, as if to make up for the earlier wait, repeating his order to make sure she had it right.
"That's four dollars, seventy-five cents, and what name do you want me to put on the cup?" She glanced up at him as she waited for his answer, a relaxed smile on her face, and she was already reaching for one of the empty regular sized cups.
Come on, make it easy, Say I never mattered, Run it up the flagpole, We will teach you how to make boys next door out of assholes.

"Never heard my eyes described like that before- but anyway. Well, what does this totally hot babe want to gain from checking me out?"
"What can I say, I'm an original." Tilting her head back, she considered him, before answering playfully, "I'm thinking another trip for coffee, this time not because I've spilled something on you."
"How much ‘manpower’ would you say is necessary to run a twenty-four hour cafe?" Augustus asked, stepping nearer to the counter, his pale hands coming to rest, folded before the register. "I’m looking to go into the business, you see."
He spoke with a certain easy formality, both friendly and distant simultaneously, and his blue eyes were focused intently on Lily, without piercing. Merely considering her as she was. There was something old in him, something warm, despite the pale coldness of his skin.
Lily paused to consider him, and his question, for a moment before turning to fill the cup with the last of the day's coffee. "I guess it's not really about numbers with the manpower, just about who's willing to stay around that long. Here, mostly everyone's early birds, I'm the only one willing to be up past midnight, really, so we can't consistently stay open past eleven, so we don't."
Adding some cream to the coffee, she turned back to face him, her face thoughtful as she put the lid on and drew her conclusion. "As long as you had people willing to work every shift, I bet you could get by with anywhere from six to eight people, two per shift. Three fifty," she reminded, almost as an afterthought, as she handed him the coffee.
