The night was still in its early stages when a dark wind blew. A wind that announced rain for the next day. You slowly began to get used to this muddy, wet and very restless weather that awaited you, if not every day, then every other. However, this kind of wind these days is meant to announce someone's arrival at your door, or precisely, the window of your room. As you felt some kind of energy outside, you wanted to subtly look out the window. Truly, wanting to see who was outside at this hour.
You expected your soon to be lover, the Cullen, the vampire, but instead— there stood your childhood best friend. Yeh Shuhua.
Widening your eyes, especially when she looked up at your window with her curly, bushy hair falling off her face, you didn’t take any second for granted to not open the window. Pulling it upwards and leaning your torso to the outside world, you questioned. “What are you doing here?” questioning with a slight tone. Shuhua, tilting her head, answered with her words holding more depth than the ocean. “I needed to talk to you.” her both hands stood up from her elbows as she explained. “You haven’t been answering your phone, and your dad said you were sick.”
At those words you licked your lips and looked over your shoulder. When you looked back, a wave of memories from 2 days ago rushed through your mind.
When you walked alongside the beach with her.
The waves gently washed over the sand over the coastline. Water makes the forest seem comforting alongside the mysterious depth of it. With Shuhua, you always saw a little bit more of nature than you did with your vampire. Even while talking with her, you felt some kind of comfort.
“How come you’re hanging out with the Cullens these days?” Shuhua struck a question. Her right hand holding her point, middle and ring fingers closely. furrowing your eyebrows, you felt some kind of shame wash over you. “How…Who told you?” your face met hers. Her eyes were lingering over the shore. Taking a moment to look back at you. Her eyes always carried a beautiful shade of dark brown. As if the whole forest that was on both of your left sides was right inside them. Letting nature fill her pupils, you knew she felt grounded in herself. All the brown autumn held and stones that summer dried out— it was all in Shuhua's eyes.
You remembered her clear words. Words of both hesitation and warning.
“Y’know.” She took a few seconds before continuing. To arrange the cubes of forming the next sentence. “The Cullens are originally, well, traditionally, viewed as our…” the sudden stop made you look up to her again. “our?” adding a curious extension to the last letter. While waiting for an answer you tilted your head upwards, extending your neck. That’s when Shuhua finally built the courage to look at your face. “They're our tribe’s enemies.” As you blinked, you continued the questions.
“But I’m not a member of your tribe—” “You don’t understand.” Her sharp words left this memory in your mind. “Then explain?” you forced a smile, wanting Shuhua to ease up. But she refused to explain why, she just went to that one sentence. “For your safety, I want you to be away from the cold ones.”
At that moment, you got struck by a realization. Not immediately, afterwards, you thought of that sentence for the remaining days. Why was Shuhua starting to become different? Why was she so protective? Why doesn’t she like vampires?
“Back up, I’m going up.” you heard Shuhua demand as you looked back and obeyed. Slowly taking a step back.
Though you couldn’t see it clearly, Shuhua immediately climbed the tree next to your window. With her strength she attached herself to the highest stable branch and whipped herself to your window sill. When she managed to enter your room, as she stood up, you noticed she didn’t have anything but a bra underneath her navy blue jeans jacket. A small flush of redness covered your cheeks, but the coldness of the wind covered it well. Struggling to maintain eye contact, you heard her break the ice.
“Hey.” Her lips parted to reach out for something, something beyond words. “Look I’m sorry for everything that I said last wee-” You half-extended your hand so that your clenched fist could stop her figure that wanted to approach you.
There is no word that Shuhua has been a little harsh to you these days. Trying to break your stubborn character and convince you that Cullens are no good. But you just wanted answers.
“I know you’re hiding something,” you finally locked eyes with those deep brown eyes. “And I just want you to tell me what has been happening these days.” In that moment Shuhua backs away from your hand and proceeds to walk over to sit on the end of your bed.
Shuhua let out a defeated sigh. “Y/n, I can't tell you about this.” fidgeting her fingers.
“It’s not something I have control or choice over,” she looks up at you. “And it’s not something usual like…I can’t even explain it but I promise you I just want you to be safe and I need you to stay away from–” she suddenly stopped when she saw the scar on your open hand.
A bite mark.
Her gaze locked onto your hand as if the rest of the world had been stripped away.
“That…” Shuhua’s voice faltered, for the first time losing its steady edge. She quickly leaned closer, taking a better look at it. Shuhua’s fingers hover just above your skin, almost afraid to touch it. “That’s… not normal.”
The room felt smaller suddenly. The wind outside pressed against the glass like it wanted in, like it knew something had already changed inside.
You pulled your hand back slightly, but her eyes followed it.
“It’s nothing,” you lied, too quickly. “It healed weird, that’s all.”
But Shuhua shook her head once, slow and certain, like she already knew the truth you were trying to bury. “No it didn’t! I don’t even get how you can let those blood thirsty people do what they want!” Shuhua suddenly stood up and made her voice certainly louder than it was just seconds ago.
“What’s that to you anyway?” you almost yelled back. “You suddenly come to me with all this information that doesn't make sense and want me to be, what, in a cage?!”
“I’m not saying you shouldn’t go outside I—” you stop her. “I just don’t understand why they are so bad if you’re hiding things more than they are?!”
“I’m telling you to stay away because I’m a werewolf!!”
Silence stretched between you both, heavy and trembling. Her jaw tightened, and for a moment she looked almost angry—then it broke, just slightly, into something more human. Fear. Not of you. For you.
“I told you to stay away from them because I know they will turn away from you.” she said, quieter now. “It’s in their nature, but not in mine.” she put her palm on her heart.
You exhaled sharply, stepping closer to the bed where she sat. It was all clear now.
Werewolves were always enemies with the cold blood sucking creatures. Even when the deal over the land was made, vampires stepped over it just like that. They are no creatures to be trusted. The real reason Shuhua wasn’t telling you about her real, animal, side was because she wanted to protect you.
And the reason Cullens were so open about them, their powers and abilities was because they wanted to control you.
Taking a deep breath, you swallowed that hard pill and slowly accepted that truth. The air in your room felt different now—heavier, like it had been given a name.
You stared at Shuhua, as if you saw her for the first time and the last time at once. Everything she had ever said, every warning and shared silence suddenly stopped being fragments and started becoming a puzzle you finally solved.
A truth you wanted to find out.
You exhaled slowly, sitting next to her. Her eyes were constantly on your face. Now, she seeks your approval of the truth. “I didn’t want you to find out like this.” blinking, you answered. “I’m glad I did.”
Your words caught her off guard. Now, she completely turned her body to face yours. Shuhua tilted her head, “Why?” Shuhua’s brows tightened slightly. Showing clear signs she didn’t quite understand yet. So you leaned back on your hands, letting the weight in your chest settle into something clearer.
“Before,” you admitted, “I thought I was being pulled in two directions by people who wanted different things from me.” Your gaze flickered toward the window for a second, then back to her. “But now I see it wasn’t like that.” you held a proud look in your eyes before showing it to Shuhua’s.
“It was only ever one side trying to pull on me,” you said quietly. “And the other trying to keep me from getting torn.”
Shuhua’s expression shifted into something soft, breaking through the tension she had been holding for too long.
Still, she replied almost disbelievingly, “And you don’t hate me for it?”
That question hit differently than all the others. You turned fully toward her now, mirroring the way she had just turned toward you.
“No,” you said simply. “I think I would’ve hated myself more if I didn’t know the truth.” There was no room for doubt in your words.
At that her breath caught slightly. Shuhua gulped, letting the silence consume her in this eye contact you’re both holding. And you felt it. Another realization. Realization that showed you the real path. Showed you who you should really love.
Your eyes fell to her soft pink colored lips. Both of your hearts suddenly started rushing. A strange warmth spread through your chest, making every beat of your heart feel louder than the last. You could hear the wind rattling the branches outside your window, but it sounded so distant. The only thing that felt real was the space between you and Shuhua. Or rather, how little of it remained.
Shuhua followed your gaze for only a second before her own eyes widened slightly. The realization reached her too. Neither of you spoke. Everything important had already been laid bare.
“Y/n...” she whispered. Sounding vulnerable and needy for your words. As her lips stayed apart, you took this moment to get closer. Shuhua was waiting for your move, she could wait for you to decide as long as it takes you, she would wait.
Your name left her lips so softly it almost hurt. You looked back into her eyes. Those familiar brown eyes. And suddenly, choosing didn't feel difficult anymore. It felt obvious.
Both of you let go of the tension you felt these days and shared a kiss. Struggling to breathe, you slide your hand to rub against Shuhua’s. Wanting her to see you’re as comfortable as she should be. Shuhua brushed away strands of hair from your face. Grasping for your face.
Outside, the wind continued to rustle through the trees, but for the first time in days, neither of you paid it any attention. As you both continued the kissing, it felt as gentle as you both imagined it.
In the end, the truth you found out under this waning crescent moon was the truth that uncovered the lies you were told. And that same truth will lead you on the right path. Not because you realized it, but because she showed you what you truly deserve.

At times, Miyeon never learned the fact of the attention Love got---especially on Valentines day.
The day where everyone exchanged letters to show some kind of affection, or even confession, toward their loved ones.
It was the day Miyeon worked the most.
The cupid.
Destined to change fate so two tied lovers could finally meet.
She never got why she had to change the laws of nature with no consequences so two people could just meet.
Until,
her heart shaped pupils met your walking figure. The sun shined a little bit brighter than usual. Your hair looked a little more detailed and your eyes
---- your eyes looked like they were far more impactful on her thoughts than they ever were.
She'd been eyeing you ever since her stay on that part of the earth. She wished she never did.
So she shouldn't have to await the day she pierces a bow through your and your future lover's back.
It would be her last day.
Until then, she chose to ignore it.
You didn't even know she existed. But something about you made her feel the comfort she needed. Comfort she wanted.
Maybe that's why she didn't like her purpose---she needs to give it to everyone but herself.
The way you carried yourself through the stress, traumas, accidents---the way you used your words to express your feelings. And mostly, the way your whole atmosphere gave her the feeling like she's on cloud nine.
Miyeon watched you from her little cloud in the sky. Laying on her stomach and resting her chin on the end of her palm. Why is it that she finds you so astonishing?
Her eyes sparkled when she saw you smile upon. A smile grew on her face too.
But every time she smiled because of you ---she frowned because of herself.
The more you gave her joy, the more sorrow she gave herself.
That's because loving you was the game she was losing.
The day's been getting closer----the day she springs an arrow through your soulmate and you.
She had to do it.
It was her only purpose.
And when the day came, tears flowed through her glassy eyes.
Miyeon held tightly onto the bow. The arrow was slightly trembling. Emotions overflowing and swallowing her whole. But she had to.
Miyeon took a deep breath.
Aimed, once again
and shooted.
The magic that's not visible to humans escaped the arrow when it touched the two's hearts. The colors of red, pink and white breezing up back in the sky.
As you and your soulmate made eye contact, that's where Miyeon broke.
Coughing hardly, she could barely breathe.
As her arrow connected the two hearts, hers was bleeding from being broken.
Miyeon aimed one last arrow to fulfill her mission to the great Gods, her strength was leaving her side.

Cold sweat formed on your forehead as your worried eyes scanned the messages you just got. Quietly, your eyes started to tear up upon the honest words.
“I just wanted to be honest with myself and also with you—I don't want to be yours anymore.”
Gripping the metal of your phone tightly, your hands started to shake. The moment has come, it really did. Already, you wondered how long it would take Minnie to be disappointed in you, moreover, leave you.
These days have been tough to handle. Constant mistakes, reading between the lines, in addition, feeling like you're in an eager fog and no matter the path you take, you can’t seem to grasp out of it.
“I value a lot you showed me over this past time but a lot has been on my mind and I had to tell you eventually before I started to hate you.”
And these confessions are cherries on top of your overwhelmed mind.
In reality, Minnie was your light and your daily dose of sanity you needed over the tiredness you’d feel during winter. The cold months always have a grip on everyone and their mood, but even though you love cold times— you hate how they make you feel.
Trying to move your fingers to type at least something, but you failed. You could only watch as the written words pierced deeper into your heart.
That’s when you closed your eyes.
“Y/n!!” a muffled sound.
“Y/n!!” the second one got clearer.
“Wake up, Y/n!” Now you heard it perfectly.
Slowly, your eyelids let your vision arise. Slight groaning at the light shaking you felt, your eyes roamed your room. Your and Minnie’s bedroom.
“Y/n…” Minnie’s voice was almost above a breeze of a whisper. Feeling her warm hand caressing your forehead, brushing a strand of hair off your face to see you better. “Are you alright? You seem like you were having a bad dream.” When you finally realized, opening your eyes not just physically, you got it now— It was all a dream.
Though you felt the tear fall under your cheek, you gently moved into her lap. Hugging Minnie’s waist and resting your head on her thighs, you held her tight. “I was…” you whispered, so she shall not hear how the sadness makes your voice appear. In response, Minnie looked down at you in awe, ready to take care of you and make you fall asleep better. Her hand roamed the top of your head, gently ruffling your hair. “It’s alright…you’re alright.” she started. “C’me here.”
As you backed away so Minnie could snuggle up against you, she wrapped her hands around your back. Moving your figure closer to her chest as you laid your head on it. Silently letting the wasted tears stain her collarbones. Though you were calm, you didn’t know why you cried such small tears. “Don’t worry, you’ll tell me in the morning,” she continued. “I’ll be right here when you wake up.” After then, she placed a meaningful kiss on your forehead, making you hold her tighter.
The luminosity of the early morning cast its glow on both of your sleeping figures. The white blankets make the cozy atmosphere even more real as the sound of both of your breathing filled the room.
It all made you realize, no matter the doubt you treasure at the depths of your heart, Minnie will not leave you for them. Even during a restless night.
