written from beyond the void & based on an ever-developing original universe, driven lovingly mad by gracie, she/her, 35. indie, selective, fandomless ( with heavily developed verses for star wars, star trek, & others ), & mutuals only. this blog explores lovecraftian themes with a focus on the human in the horror, the comedy in the cosmic, & the bomb in eldritch abomination! it is influenced by various different media & also the insane thoughts that show up in my head at 3am. mostly the insane thoughts, if i’m being honest.

                          the updated carrd is live!! / her extended bio is still a wip, i have a few things to finish but i’ve got the basics down for her mainverse so far. all the art ( my icon and carrd edits ) are by the artist reycat. if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask and even if you don’t stay, thanks for popping by!

* please note: this blog is going to be heavily plot focused ( this just means i’m going to be writing with people who i’ve spoken to and plotted with a bit ), since i don’t have a lot of time or energy for anything else. so please keep that in mind when you follow! i am hoping that my brain fog clears up as i work on my health issues, so i’m crossing my fingers that things will be a little easier soon!

the bar is loud after the concert, which is to be expected really. everyone's a little bit hyped up and itching for the next thrill after such an immersive performance, even more hyped up now that the lead singer is having a drink with them. it makes her job a little harder, but it keeps his attention elsewhere and she's grateful for it — something tells her his attention is dangerous.

the comment comes out of ( what feels like ) nowhere, but he's not the kind of guy that drops words without a reason behind them. perhaps he can see the grief that follows her, maybe he's just fishing for information, maybe he's just screwing with her.

who knows. she briefly considers petitioning the church for a sainthood for not hitting him with something ( yet ).

it's a lazy sort of evening. almost dull, but for the well-curated playlist, and the drinks which are just impeccable. it's a weekday, it's half empty, and all of the people in the bar, he knows. some of them nod his way when they pass him. others turn away, in fearful remembrance of the fight last month. but it's not enough. there's no conversation here, no nothing. comfort starts to feel irritating. the familiar becomes suffocating, and not in a fun way.

and then she walks in. the first fresh face of the evening. halleluiah! he watches her a few seconds as she makes her way towards the bar. her features intrigue him, but what's beneath them intrigues him more. this might just save his evening.

it's been a while since she's been inside a bar. mostly because, well, she's been busy — and also there's alcohol at home without the risk of someone on another barstool being annoying. but the world is outside, and so she goes out into the world for a stroll and a drink.

the room shifts when she walks in. for some of them it's a simple, cursory glance, for others it is a full blown stare but none of them are as interesting as the bartender. who is very cute and also very, definitely, not human.

in order to get a proper grasp of lilly as a character and the mythos surrounding her/the others, i want to use tropes as reference points. note that this says reference points, mostly because these are general assumptions/information and not always specific to her as a character and/or the mythos i’ve created. i’ve found that these tropes are themes that i use often — so it’s a good point of reference to have! if you click the link it will direct you to the tropes page where you can read a little bit more. yes, i am indeed aware of how over-powered this makes her, but while these themes are present — much of it is toned down due to her current situation. if you have any questions, let me know, but i promise it will be explained more and make more sense once i get the rest of this all sorted.

this link is a conglomeration of all lovecraftian tropes, also an index of cthulhu references because why not. not all of them will be used, but many of them will be referenced and honestly —- some of them are hilarious. i know there are more tropes i will be adding this list but i will post an update when i do that! the above list deals with mostly her on a cosmic scale, but nothing about her as a character re: her personality, traits, etc. so i will be posting another one of these lists that focus solely on that since — this is already super long.
