Vampire Hugo Headcanon/Theory
Hey, first of all I’m kinda surprised there are so many fans of a story on Reddit. I’m all for it though lmao.
“I’m a guard stationed at a secret government prison” is like one of my favorite stories I’ve ever read. I was listening to The Dark Somnium’s narration (for like the 4th time) while reading along and I couldn’t help but wonder if Hugo could still be alive.
We never actually see Hugo’s death, all we know is that Kael gave him a nice goodbye, but for all we know Hugo could have just fell unconscious or something. Now I love Kael, but is it possible he maybeeee could have stayed by Hugo’s side for a few minutes before leaving, thinking he’d die any second?
My theory is basically Kael bit Hugo turning him into a vampire. Now you may be thinking “but wouldn’t Kael say something when the battle was over or ask to go back for Hugo?” Well what if he did it accidentally and didn’t know he did?
Now we know from Kael’s backstory that to turn someone into a vampire you basically need to bite into their neck. In part 3, we see Kael use his fangs on the Gladiator’s shoulder and tore a chunk out so he can also use it as a weapon.
But what if Kael meant to use it as a weapon but accidentally made Hugo a vampire? In part 2, during their fight, it says that Kael “bit into his neck” not his shoulder, not his arm, but his neck. I’m not totally sure how that whole vampire thing works but assuming it depends on the type of bite, intentional or not, Kael could have accidentally bit Hugo a specific way or in a specific place that would turn him into a vampire.
When we see Kael getting turned into a vampire, he passes out relatively quickly after the bite. While Hugo is human (sort of), he has that weird power that could possibly delay or maybe even prevent him from passing out. In part 3, he does pass out after the battle, that could just be because of his wounds but it could also possibly be because he was bitten and the passing out was just delayed. In part 3, Hugo stated that he generates the same as any ordinary man. If he can’t regenerate fast, how could he already be able to walk by the next time we see Hugo and Kael? Hugo gradually turning into a vampire would also explain how he miraculously stays alive even after being beaten to a pulp. It would also mean that Hugo’s still alive although badly injured.
These are all the examples I can think of at the moment, so bye ✌️.
