Trinity Santos has an ironclad sense of justice. It is incredibly neurodivergent sexy character defining. That woman does not let people off the hook. This is both very good as a defense mechanism and very bad as a social skill.

Trinity will not forget what was done. You crossed a line? You hurt someone? You get a straight shot, no passing go no $200, to the unsafe person category. You now have 5000 miles of barbed wire and land mines between you and ever getting within shouting distance of her. She learned it early and hard that some people are not safe. And she will be treating all interactions with them with the appropriate amount of PPE. You had your chance and you fucked it up. Deal with the consequences.

But as a social skill? Trinity sometimes people need some grace and leeway. No one could ever be that perfect (even though you push yourself to be). You need to learn what honest second chances look like. You need to learn to move past the hurt. Let the hurt go… if you don’t let the hurt go it’s going to kill you one day

Ted Bundy killed 30 people. Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 people. Dennis Rader, the BTK Killer, killed 10 people. John Wayne Gacy killed 33.

We call these men monsters. For the loved ones they took, for the needless pain, suffering, and terror they inflicted. And while there are those who cannot help but take a morbid interest in their crimes, still they are villified by them. Their character is universally damned. Rightfully so.

As Vice President of the United States, Dick Cheney oversaw the killing of 655,000 people in Iraq, 241,000 people in Afghanistan, and nearly 7,000 of his own men. He had hundreds of people kidnapped and tortured. He built in this country a culture of fear, distrust, and racial and religious hatred. He created a system by which every man, woman, and child on Earth is now constantly spied on. Even all these years later, our own streets fill over with soldiers, maimed in body and mind, unable to compete in the corporate meatgrinder he had prepared for them upon their return. I don't quite have the figures on how many of them have died, but I can't imagine they're small.

Upon his death, we are told he was "divisive."

What is the magic number, I wonder, where a man ceases to be a monster and becomes a statesman? What is that great and hedy tonic that takes the most depraved acts of whch men are capable, and renders them merely divisive?
