Alex giggled, nudging Leo. “It’s cause he’s old! And he’s no fun.”

“Hey!” River playfully glared at Alex, rolling his eyes playfully when she giggled in response. He focused back on Leo, “Last time I checked, I do live in a house.” He titled his head, “So what’s Among Us then?”

Leo took a deep breath before explaining, “It’s a game where you’re on a space ship and one of your crewmates is an imposter. The imposter is a monster who tries to eat the crewmates, but they look like everyone else. ”

Astrid returned from her trip to the bathroom and approached her son and the two strangers. Leave it to Leo to talk to strangers when she specifically asked him not to. “What are you doing, monkey?” she asked, ruffling Leo’s hair. 

“Moooooom!” He groaned as his hair was messed up. “I’m telling this guy what Among Us is!”

Alex checked, only gaining a long scratch along her arm from the fall. “I’m okay.” She noticed he had a game going on the Switch’s screen, her face lighting up when she saw it was Among Us. “Among us! You play too? I always play as the pink one!” 

River checked out Alex’s scratch, sighing in relief that it was a very minor injury. He’d never hear the end of it from his mom otherwise. Hearing both her and Leo, he cocked an eyebrow. “What’s Among Us?”

Leo nodded. “Yeah! I just got ejected though. I usually play as orange, but somebody took the orange color so I had to be yellow this round. Bleh.” Leo gasped dramatically at the older boy. “You don’t know Among Us? Do you live under a rock?!”

Astrid: Okay, who showed you The Exorcist?

Leo: Aunt Heather.

Astrid: Okay, note to self: kick Heather’s butt at Christmas.

Leo: So like the girl in The Exorcist?

Yeah, I’m just an old maid.

Exactly. Dangerous indeed.

Cross my heart! *considers this next bit, and nods her head, finger tapping her chin until Leo pipes up, and Chris looks down with a grin, offering her take, too* Something you don’t ever want to run into trouble with. 

Leo: But what is it?!

Astrid: It’s something people use to talk to ghosts, but sometimes the ghosts are mean so you shouldn’t try it.

I’m pretty sure I am. I was born in ‘87.

Okay, but that burns. A lot.

That’s why you mix it with other stuff! You’d be surprised how quickly fruity cocktails get you buzzed.

River immediately hurried up seeing the boy on the floor, picking up his sister first before helping the boy up. “You okay, little dude?” He asked before side-eyeing his sister. “Alex, what do you say to someone you accidently hurt?” 

“I’m sorry.” Alex mumbled, looking down at the floor. “I didn’t mean to.”

“I’m okay,” he mumbled, looking over at his Switch to make sure it wasn’t broken. Fortunately, the console was unscratched. Unfortunately, however, someone had called an emergency meeting in the game to say that Leo was suspicious. With only five seconds left to vote, he would have to take the loss this round. “It’s okay. Are you okay? You fell over too.”

Alex was running so far up ahead, ignoring her brother’s calls for her to come back and giggling while she did. She was so caught up in disobeying her brother that she didn’t notice running into someone’s legs head first, sending both the person and Alex tumbling to the floor. 

“Alex!” River ran over to the scene, helping her up quickly. “Are you deaf? I told you to stop running!” He scolded her before he looked to your character. “Are you okay? I’m really sorry.” He said, before helping them up. 

Leo was playing Among Us on his Nintendo Switch, minding his business, when he suddenly felt himself fall to the ground. His console fell out of his hands and onto the concrete in the process. “Aww man, I was just about to kill that guy!” he whined, struggling to get out from underneath the smaller girl.
