“i didn’t say it was normal. of course it’s not normal; they’re fucking insane and all they do is try to bite everyone’s heads off. they’ve been around longer than i have, but joel told me…” she pauses, realizing this woman wouldn’t know who joel is. “my friend told me that it was some fungal infection in bugs or something, but it jumped to humans. the outbreak happened pretty fast after the vaccinations failed and the hospital patients got loose. it spread all over the country within days, and since then, the world’s gone to SHIT and nobody’s safe unless you can shoot a gun or stay quiet long enough for them to pass and leave you be. but that’s rare, i mean sometimes they’ll stay in one spot for months. once they stay long enough, they mold into the wall and leave deadly spores behind. breathe ‘em in, and boom. you’re a clicker. there’s more clickers than there are humans, i bet. i’m only 17, but i sure have seen a lot of gross shit. clickers are disgusting.” she doesn’t bother to mention her immunity. ellie knows it’s best kept a secret, regardless of whether or not there are clickers in this weird-ass place.

Astrid was intrigued. It was almost like a zombie apocalypse broke out but didn’t turn anyone into zombies but instead weird fungi creatures---how fascinating! “Oh my God, that sounds terrifying. I can’t imagine how ANYONE could survive. Just ugh...” The blonde shuddered, lip biting down heavily onto her lip. “As a fourteen year old I had to take care of a huge population of kids because all of our parents and adults disappeared from the world with no explanation whatsoever. And believe me that wasn’t the only weird event. Kids started getting powers and I mentioned that animals were affected too. There were these kids that burned down a huge part of the town, a whole battle for control over a town, and a plague of our own.” She stopped, realizing that she was rambling and knew that she should probably slow down. The FAYZ wasn’t something she could explain in a matter of minutes. “Oh, I’m Astrid by the way. Astrid Ellison.”

diana exhaled heavily. oh sweet sweet astrid, how could she NOT forgive her? no matter how annoying or how entitled she thought she was, diana always had a soft spot for her. “i’m sorry too. i’m sorry that i stuck with caine.”

Astrid could easily see how hard things were for Diana---and she always believed that she was one of the strongest women that she knew. “Did you stay with Caine...because you loved him?” She knew the question would be DIFFICULT but she needed to know the truth. Closure after the FAYZ was a necessity in her opinion.

ellie doesn’t take well to unfamiliar surroundings or people. because of this, she is overly hostile and a bit scared ( well, maybe more than just ‘a bit’ ). she’s been awake for, say, five minutes and already she’s rummaging through her backpack in search of her switchblade, but to no avail. it’s gone. she grunts and rises to her feet, turning to face the nearest stranger. “okay, if a fucking clicker jumps out of nowhere, you can kill it.”

Astrid’s quiet for a solid second, trying to piece the information together. She doesn’t know what a clicker is. And when the genius didn’t know what something was---it was either fake or too complex for her. “I’m sorry, I don’t know what you mean by a CLICKER.” The blonde crossed her arms over her chest. “And I’d rather not kill anything. I’m far from a violent person.”
