Composite Charts & What They Mean
Composite charts are a method of visually representing relationships by merging the involved parties birth charts. Astrologers treat composite charts as a entire separate entity to the individual birth charts as it's a merging of energies between people. From the composite chart interpretations of the nature of their relationship to insightful and deep advice about possible problems that may arise in the relationship can be ascertained.
This is achieved by finding the midpoints between pairs of planets and other elements existing in both people's birth charts. E.g Sun of one and the Sun of the other = The composite Sun is the midpoint of the two suns.

The Aspects & What They Mean
Each aspect represent an ‘activated’ relationship between the two planets in question. The type of aspect describes the nature of energy between them. One way to find out the energy of an aspect relationship is to find out what sign the planet is the ruler of.

Predominance of a certain type of aspect:
Conjunction: People with a predominance of conjunctions in their chart may be highly cognitive and a have an innate ability to draw their attention to a subject completely without external motivations. Though sometimes their field of view can become very narrow and lose sight of the bigger picture.
Oppositions: People with a predominance of oppositions may experience a energies tend for extremities and are difficult to maintain a balance with. Whoever this polarity of energies drives them to seek deep understanding of themselves and the world around them in an effort to find balance and serenity.
Trines: People with a predominance of trines may experience a free flowing life with little burdens coupled with having a whole host of talents. What are retrogrades and what do they mean?
Retrograde planets are functions of the personality which operate in an internal, indirect, subconscious and delayed manner. They show us the energies that were repressed when we were young and not encouraged to naturally flourish. As a result we must learn to open space to develop these energies ourselves and forge our own path. Majority of people usually have 2-3 retrograde planets.
People with no retrogrades, at an early age naturally develop their important life skills and normally feeling no inclination for inner self-exploration. Normally characterised as that friend that we grew up with that had life figured out from early on. Though as we age planets may turn retrograde through our life time by progression.
On the other hand, people with 4 or more retrograde planets may find a hard time finding themselves and how they fit into the puzzle of society. Normally these people work very internally and feel a need to forge their own path. These people may be relflected as highly individualistic, sometimes eccentric and alternate.
Retrograde planets may be characterized as regression, self-repression and isolation, but they also provide infinite potential for internal growth. Their energies allow space to open for finding your true voice and true understanding of your being and where your path is.

Every planet, sign, and relationship in astrology (such as an aspect) has a symbolic meaning. Skilled astrologers vary greatly in their interpretations, but agree on some core principles. What is exciting about astrology is own our room for interpretation of what we see. Is what we know only at the tip of an iceberg? Can the movements of the planets describe movements of subtle energy in our lives and on our planet?
Signs
The signs are the 12 constellations that make up the zodiac. You can the signs as unique energies through which the symbology of the planets filter.
Sign Legend
Planets
In astrology, the planets refer to the positions of the fast moving Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars and slow moving Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto. Many charts now also include Chiron, as asteroid thought to represent one's wounding, and the North Node, thought to represent a more spiritual view of one's life path (in comparison to the Sun).
You may also see the angles listed: Ascendant, MC, IC, Descendant. The Asc shows the sign that was rising on the horizon at the moment of the chart. It varies greatly by hour and minute. The Descendant is exactly opposite of the Ascendant and shows the sign falling on the horizon. The MC is the point at which meridian intersects with the zodiac, and the IC the point directly across. Use the below as a legend for the symbols on the chart.
Aspects
Each planet creates a geometric relationship to each other planet within the circle. When this relationship is special - for instance the angle formed between them is 90 degrees and thus looks like the corner of a square, this is noted by astrologers and interpreted.
The primary aspects to look at are the conjunction, square, trine, opposition, and sextile. The others are less common to interpret and examine but many are still included in astro-charts as they may be of interest to you.
